Economic Development and Environmental Protection Some people think that the urgent task is to develop economy on a large scale. That is because strong wealth is the basis of any other development of a country. We all know that our country is still on the primary stage of socialism and its material civilization is not strong enough, so in order to give people happiness, we should spare no efforts to develop our economy. Besides, only under fast economy development, can we make our country strong.

On the other hand, many people insist that environmental protection is a top priority. Nowadays, more and more deadly disasters have happened to our human beings and many people have lost their lives in those disasters. All these happened have much to do with the damage that humans have done to the nature. People develop the economy at the expense of environment. Although today we can live a high standard of life, we cannot experience the happiness the nature gives, like which our parents and grandparents experienced. This is a great pity for us and following generations. And also, environment pollution has done great harm to people’s health.

In my opinion, environmental protection is as important as economic development. We should develop sustainable economy. That is to say, we should keep the balance of nature and human beings, including saving every little drop of water, every piece of paper, every little resource and so on. Everything is equal which means we should live in harmony with other animals and no hunting, no killing. Cutting down the use of cars and using public transportation as much as possible and planting more trees can help purify the air surrounding us. Furthermore, we should accelerate the transformation of the pattern of economic development and explore new natural resources which are renewable. In a word, both of economic development and environmental protection are of great importance and the latter one is even more important.
