让英语作业从机械抄写走向意义写作

当前的英语作业,很多教师习惯于让学生进行机械的抄写,严重增加了学生学习英语的负担。在长期限小学英语教学实践中,笔者做了一些有益的探索和尝试,力争让学生的英语作业从机械的抄写走向有意义的写作,既减轻学生的负担,又能让学生的创造思维和写作能力得以培养和发展。

一、组词造句

组词造句的任务比较简单,适用于初学英语的低年级儿童。不少英语教师习惯于从学生一开始学习单词就让学生机械地抄写。笔者并不反对一定数量的抄写,但过多的机械抄写让学生在接触英语的起始阶段兴趣就受到影响,思维受到束缚。在学习了不同类的单词之后,我为学生设计了组词的写作任务,启发和引导学生模仿我们的汉语根据情景将两个单词组成一个新的短语,以更准确全面地描述一个事物。

例如,学生刚学完《牛津小学英语》教材3A中的Unit 1Animals和Unit 2 Colours后,我要求学生将Unit 1中的各种动物涂上自己喜欢的颜色,然后再依照a black cat 的形式组词。学生充分发挥想象,涂颜色,写短语,创造思维和初步的写作能力得到了有效的培养。一些学生甚至根据实际情况写出了a black and white panda, an orange and black tiger等精彩的短语。当然也得到了我的大力赞美。在学生英语知识储备和运用能力达到一定程度时,我又开始为学生设计写句子的任务,以适时发展学生的写作能力。例如,学完3A Unit 11中的描绘任务外貌特征的形容词后,我要求学生用本课所学生词模仿例句写几句话,并能恰如其分地表现出自己身体外形的特点。由于有例句可以参照,绝大多数学生都能正确写出I’m thin. I’m not short. My hair is long. My eyes are big.等句子。对于少数几位存在困难的学生,我也会给予更进一步的帮助。

二、看图仿写对话

《牛津小学英语》教材中,每一个新授单元的C或D板块都是固定的看图说话练习,教材中提供情景图和对话示例,旨在让学生在一定的情景中通过对话练习提高交际能力。在实际教学过程中,教师可以充分利用这些现成的情景资源,让学生根据情景并模仿范例编写简短的对话。据笔者观察了解,这种方法正在被大多数英语教师所采用。

不过,这种照搬教材情景和范例的方法也存在一定的缺陷:学生的思维容易受到范例的束缚,主动性和创造性成份很少。而且,有时课本中的情景图内容很丰富,但是对话却只有很简单的两句,不利于学生写作能力的提高。针对这种情况,教师首先要能摆脱教材的束缚,鼓励学生根据情景充分发挥想象,编写出完整、有新意的对话。如4B Unit6 (C)中,课本中给出了四幅情景图,而提供的Key sentences就是简单的Shall we go to …by…?All right./OK. 教学中,我在学生课堂练说的基础上,选择了其中的第四幅图让学生编写对话,并比一比看谁写的对话最完整,最符合实际。教材中的情景图:

三、改编调查结果

《牛津小学英语》中设计了很多调查性任务——Do a survey。学生通过与同伴之间的交流互动,交际能力能得到很快的发展。大部分教师对此类任务的利用,仅仅满足于调查结果的形成。我在教学中注重对调查结果的再次开发和利用,让学生将图表式的、片断的调查结果改写成完整的短文,以培养学生的综合运用能力和写作能力。

例如5B Unit 3 Hobbies,本课中的Do a survey以表格形式罗列了学生常见的各种hobbies,并让学生调查几位好朋友,同时在表中记录调查结果。调查完成后,我要求学生选择调查结果中一位或两位同学的hobbies,写成一篇短文。为了降低难度,我还引导启发学生,帮学生理清思路,扩展写作角度。

Everyone has some hobbies. My hobbies are playing football and going fishing. My

good friend Wang Tao’s hobbies are playing football and drawing pictures. So we have the same bobby, playing football. He plays well and me, too. We often go to play football in the sports field on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. But sometimes we don’t play football. When we feel too tired, he draws pictures and I go fishing with my father. Wang Tao can draw nice pictures and sometimes he draws lovely animals for me. I like his pictures very much.

四、扩写听力内容

从6A开始,《牛津小学英语》教材中开始出现较多的Listen and write练习。但教材设计的侧重点还是培养学生的听力,培养学生从大篇听力材料中捕捉和收集关键信息的能力。教材列出了一些出自听力材料中的重点句子,每句话空掉了一个或数个关键单词,让学生听录音完成填空。学生听完听力材料,所需要做的只是写出几个单词,对培养学生的综合写作能力作用不大。

经过实践探索,笔者发现如果充分挖掘和合理利用,教材中的这部分内容可以作为培养学生写作能力的优质资源。以6A Unit 2 (D) Listen and write为例。首先,教师不能偏颇教材本来的设计意图,要引导学生多听,在基本理解听力材料的基础上完成填词的任务。此后,教师可以要求学生认真阅读,理解课本中列出的重点句子,并以这些句子为主要框架,充分发挥想象,综合运用学过的英语知识,写一篇完整的短文。由于有重点语句的支撑和帮助,学生写作过程中难度并不是很大。

本课教材所给重点句子:

1.My birthday is coming.

2.I would like a big cake for my party.

3.I would like to have a cake with lots of grapes.

4.I would like some fish as a birthday present.

5.I would like a yellow one and a blue one.

6.Mum will buy one for Ron, too.

学生所写短文例选:

My birthday is coming soon.

This Sunday is my birthday. I’m getting very excited. After supper my family and I are talking about my birthday party. Many friends will come to my birthday party.

So I’d like a big cake for them. Tom likes grapes very much so I’d like a big cake with lots of grapes. I like keeping fish and watching them. I’d like some fish as a birthday present. Mum will buy me a yellow one and a blue one. I like computer games, too. Dad will buy me a new VCD of computer games. It’s not brother Ron’s birthday, but Mum will buy a fish for him, too.

五、改写课文对话

《牛津小学英语》教材的每一个单元第一板块内容都是以人物对话形式呈现的,同时配有一定量的生动活泼的情景插图。教材对此部分的教学要求为Look, read and say或

Listen, read and say。不难看出,教材此部分设计的侧重点还是在于培养学生的听、说、读的能力,而对于写的要求基本空白。在平时的教学中,大多数教师也是全盘照搬教材的要求,让学生进行听录音、跟读对话、背诵对话、表演对话等活动,着重培养学生的听读能力。而对于写,教师最常用的做法就是让学生抄写对话,或是抄写、默写对话中所谓的重点词汇。事实上,教材中的这部分内容可以作为很好的写作资源加以开发和利用。随着年级的升高,当学生的知识积累和综合运用能力达到一定水平时,我就有意识地从这些对话材料中选择适合改编的一部分,让学生以这些对话的主要内容为基础,将对话改写成陈述性的小故事,当然也鼓励学生加入自己的想象成份。这样的写作任务,不仅利于培养学生综合表达的能力,由于其间还涉及人称、时态的转换等语法项目,对学生掌握和运用语法知识也有很大的帮助。以5B Unit 8为例说明。先请看课本中的对话内容,这是一篇较适合改编为陈述性短文的对话。

It is Friday afternoon. School is over. The students are talking about their weekends.

Mike: How do you spend your weekends, Wang Bing?

Wang Bing: I surf the Internet. It’s very interesting. I learn a lot from it. Helen: Do you do it every Saturday and Sunday?

Wang Bing: No. Sometimes I go swimming. Sometimes I play basketball. I like sport. How about you?

Mike: I like sport, too. I often go climbing. Sometimes I listen to music or go to the cinema. Helen: I like watching TV at home. How do you spend your weekends, Yang Ling? Yang Ling: I often go to the park. I like playing on the swings.

Helen: I do housework at the weekend. Do you do housework, too?

Yang Ling: Of course, I do. I clean the rooms and wash the clothes. How about you, Su Hai?

Su Hai: I often watch cartoons.

Yang Ling: How does Su Yang spend her weekends?

六、设计真实任务编写

任务型教学模式提倡让学生在完成任务的过程中体验英语,运用英语,培养学生运用英语做事的能力。培养学生的英语写作能力同样如此。教师要根据教学内容的特点、学生的生活实际等方面设计一些具体而真实的任务,以完成任务为导向和过程,培养学生的综合运用能力和写作能力。如学习5B Subjects and weekdays后,我设计了My timetable的写作任务;学习6A Holidays时,我设计了Introduce a traditional Chinese holiday的写作任务;学习The seasons时,我设计了The weather in my hometown的写作任务……这些接近学生生活实际的任务,有效拉近了学生信息储备和信息输出之间的距离,激发了学生的表达欲望。学生在任务的驱动下,积极思维,有序表达,写作能力得到了有效的提高。

一、作业设计应遵循的原则为:

1、灵活性原则:

设计的作业类型、形式灵活多样,让学生的多种感官动起来,而不仅仅是培养学生学会做题而已。

2、层次性原则:

作业的设计要有弹性,满足不同层次的学生对于知识巩固的需要,而且作业内容应该由浅入深,由易到难,由简到繁。

3、独立性原则:

鼓励学生通过自己独立思考,体验自主解决难题的快乐,学会独立学习,独立自主学习的能力。

4、预见性原则:

要预见学生在完成作业的过程中可能会出现的问题,并给予适当的指导和提示,避免不必要的错误。

5、复现性原则:

巩固新知识时,有机地融合旧知识,即可巩固已学语言材料,又可加快学习新知识的速度。

二、作业形式:

1、书面作业:正式作业本,每周2~3次作业,

2、教辅资料型作业:挑选基础训练上有价值的题做完由老师批改并评讲。

3、实践活动作业:课堂上设计的各项实践练习,如:Make a survey; Do a report. 让学生活学活用;或每节上课的前三分钟,让学生用所学过的内容作演讲,学生通过各种形式或活动来完成活动;或小组活动共同完成活动。

三、作业要求:

1、书写规范,字迹工整,干净整洁,不使用涂改液。

2、按时、按质、按量完成作业。

3、独立完成,不得照抄作业。

4、错题要及时纠正,下次做作业之前先纠正。

5、一律使用同一种颜色的笔,不得使用铅笔。

四、评价标准:

针对学生的课后作业情况,标准也不尽相同。

1、对于英语作文,将学生的作文分成A+ABC 四个等级,书写工整、清晰符合要求、书写规范,涵盖所有要点、结构规范、条理清楚、逻辑严密,词汇比较丰富、没有或者有少量语

法错误为A+等级。

符合要求、书写规范,部分涵盖要点、行为基本连贯,词汇不够丰富、有一些语法错误为A等级。

与要求有明显距离、书写不规范,要点不完整、行文不连贯,词汇量不足、错误较多,勉强能看出作文意图为B等级。

能用句子表达,错误百出,只能勉强猜测出作文意图为C等级。

2、对于练习题形式的作业书写规范,字迹工整,干净整洁,不使用涂改液正确率在90%以上为A+,优秀;,80%-90%为A,优良,60%-80%为B,合格,60%以下为C,不合格。

3、对于实践活动作业:口语练习,如:Make a survey; Do a report,则用教师的评语来评价,表扬学生敢于挑战选做题等。
