Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I'm Jenny, a manager assistant of Sichuan Airlines. I'm very happy to have this chance to give my presentation. Today, I'm going to introduce Sichuan Airlines company.

I have divided my presentation into three parts: the first part deals with the history of Sichuan Airlines; the second part concerns a recent news about it; and the third part relates to the personal analysis of the case.

Well, let's move to the first part.

Sichuan Airlines Co., Ltd. is a regional airline headquartered on the grounds of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, operating mainly scheduled domestic flights out of Chengdu Airport and Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.

Sichuan Airlines Co. Ltd is restructured on the basis of its predecessor, and which was established on September 19, 1986 and began its operation on July 14, 1988.

In 1992, with a financial leasing and barter trade, they brought in 4 frame of 154 plans. The 154 plan was enjoyed a name of "the air handsome boy", and immediately put into operation with passengers' love.

In 1995, Sichuan Airs took the lead in the country to introduce the A320 plan, which was known as "cross-centry model" of the airbus, and then established a largest western airbus fleet, making the shipping route expend to the national major cities gradually.

The restructure was completed on August 19, 2002. As the holding company, Sichuan Airlines initiated and combined the multiple investment entities into one complex unit with different shares held respectively by: Sichuan Airlines Group, China Southern Airlines Co. Ltd, Shanghai Airlines Co. Ltd, Shandong Airlines Co. Ltd, and Chengdu Gingko Restaurant Co. Ltd.

In October 2007, they opened the first international route, Chengdu--Seoul.

OK, let's continue to talk about the second part.

From June 22, Sichuan Airlines will launch the first flight from Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan province, to Vancouver, which will be operated three times a week. It will make a stopover in northeastern Chinese city of Shenyang.

It will be the first air route between western China and North America, said Zhang Huiyu, vice general manager of Sichuan Airlines. Passengers in western China previously had to fly to such cities as Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou first before traveling to North America.

"The flights departing from Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou usually arrive in Vancouver at night, but our new flight will arrive in Vancouver in the morning, making it more convenient for passengers to carry out business activities," according to Zhang.

Chengdu-based Sichuan Airlines now operates more than 130 domestic air routes and 14 international routes.

Ansoff growth suggests that a business' attempts to grow depend on whether it markets new or existing products in new or existing markets. There are four main categoric for it: Market Penetration, Product Development, Market Development and Diversification.

Market penetration occurs when a company enters a market with current products.

Product development is a name given to a growth strategy where a business aims to introduce new products into existing markets.

Market development is a name given to a growth strategy where the business seeks to introduce its existing products into new markets.

Diversification seeks to increase profitability through greater sales volume obtained from new products and new markets.

In this case, it relates to the market development.

As the domestic air transportation market becomes increasingly competitive, it

is continuously exploiting new markets and seeking every possibility both inside and outside China. I think it is an advantage for the company to open this new route. First, as we known, Sichuan is a big city with about 100 million population, in addition, has a great amount of famous universities and countless traveling sights. This route it's not only important to Sichuan Airlines, it's also important to all the people from the western region of China, and it will provide a gateway to the students, immigrants and travelers to Canada. Second, the new opened route is not only satisfied to more customers, but also enhanced the market occupations and competitive, and improved the states of the company.

To summarize, I have talked about three aspects of Sichuan Airlines: the history, a recent news about it, and the personal analysis of the case.

In the Western Han Dynasty (206BC-8AD), brocades produced in Chengdu were very popular in China. So Chengdu was also called the City of Brocade. In the Five Kingdoms Period (907-960), Mengchang, king of the Houshu Kingdom, decreed to plant hibiscuses on the protective wall of the city, so Chengdu was also called the City of Hibiscus. As one of China's famous historical and cultural cities, Chengdu enjoys rich tourist resources. 1500 years ago, a well-known poet in the Jin Kingdom, Zuo Si extolled Chengdu as lofty and pretty. This city has also gained the eulogium by both Li Bai, the poet immortal and Du Fu, the poet sage. With rich cultural heritage and beautiful scenic spots, Chengdu is a peaceful and prosperous city.
