The Brief Introduction of Sichuan Province 四川自古以来被称为“天府之国”，其土地肥沃，气候温和，幅员辽阔，风光秀丽，历史悠久。

With fertile soil, temperate climate, vast territory, beautiful scenery, long history, Sichuan has been called the Land of Abundance since antiquity.

四川简称“川”或“蜀”，位于中国内陆腹地。从地势上看，它西为青藏高原扼控，东为长江三峡之险，北为秦岭巴山屏障，南为云贵高原拱卫，战略地位十分重要。全省东西绵延1200多公里，南北最宽为900多公里，面积达57万平方公里，约占中国面积的6%，仅次于新疆、西藏、青海和内蒙。

Chuan or Shu is short for Sichuan, which locates at the inland of China. The military position of Sichuan is extremely important. The north of it is the natural protective screen—Qinlin and Bashan Montains; the south of it is surrounded by the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau; the east of it is the risk of Yangtse Gorges; the west of it is protected by Tibet Plateau. From north to south, the width of Sichuan is more than 900 kms, and from east to west, the length is about 1200kms. The acreage of Sichuan is about 570,000 square kilometers,

which is about the 6% of the whole area of China, ranked fifth after Xinjiang, Tibet, Qinghai and Neimenggu provinces.

四川四面环山，中间是一盆地，滔滔的长江在四川境内由西向东，横贯而过。其地形为西高东低。西部为川西高原，海拔7556米的贡嘎雪山是横亘高原的第一峰。东部为盆地，盆地西部是富饶美丽的成都平原。全年气候东西各异。西部除河谷地带外，属大陆性高寒气候，气温低，日照长，长冬无夏。东部属亚热带湿润东南风气候，冬暖，春早，夏长,最冷的一月份为5c—8c,最热的七月份为25c—29c，全年无霜期可达300天以上。深受中国和世界人民喜爱的珍奇动物—大熊猫，就生长在盆地西北部的卧龙自然保护区和王郎自然保护区。

Sichuan is embosomed by hills, and the middle of it is a basin. The Yangtse River flows through this area from west to east. The physical feature of Sichuan is: Lower in the east, higher in the west. The western part of Sichuan is ChuanXi Plateau, where the highest hill is the Gongga Slow Montain, which is 7,556 meters high above the sea level. The eastern part of Sichhuan is a basin. The beautiful and richly endowed Chengdu Plain is in the western of the basin. The climate of Sichuan is respectively different according to the seasons, from east field to west area. The western part, except for the valley areas, belongs

to the continental cold climate, with the characteristics of low temperature, long time sunshine, long winter time and no summer time. The eastern part is the subtropical moist southwest- wind climate, with the characteristics of warm winter, early coming spring, and long summertime. The coldest month is January when the temperature can low to5 centigrade to 8 centigrade (5℃-8℃), while the hottest month is July when the temperature can reach top to 25centigrades to29 centigrade, therefore, the frost-free period is more than 300 days. In addition, the rare animals Giant Panda, which are loved by Chinese as well as the people of the world, grow in the Wolong Natural Reserve and Wanglang Natural Reserve in the northwestern part of the Sichuan Basin.
