I am a team player when I was in low grade but I usually led the team in my senior years when I accumulate enough experiences. I am a minister of Career development Society which support university office and plan many projects every year. I’ d like to share an experience of disagreement when we hold a mock interview competition recently to provide students with internships opportunities. The companies invited prefer senior students for the positions. Nevertheless, I can imagine that our target candidates will be low-grade students as they have more free time. My teammates suggested that we should stick to what firm preferred and removed the candidates in

low-grade but I preferred to talk about the real situations in the university and decreases the expectation of Human Resource recruitment of the firms. After several times of communication in the group and with the firms, we reach a consolidation that we should in one hand improve the competency of the participants particularly the low-grade students and in the other hand suggest the firm to provide appropriate internships to the winners according to their strengths. And the competition is very popular at that time among the students and through this experience, my communication skill and leadership quality are boosted and I am better at coping with complicated situations.

I would like to share you the task my professor assigned to me in the last semester. It was acase about

a coffee shop. We were required to make a presentation in the class.

At that time, I was in conflict with another member over the presentation’s topic. I preferred to talk about this particular coffee shop, while someone wanted to learn about the whole industry. Then I made some investigations in private to let other students to choose between the two topics. After considering the results of the investigations, we decided to combine the two topics in our presentation. Finally we had a good presentation. This experience taught me that when you had a different opinion from others, the best way was to communicate actively.

*2. Please describe a challenge you have faced and how you coped with it. It can be work related or during your study in school, or even in your personal life you want to share. Actually, I used to lead a sedentary lifestyle and easily got ill. I did not realize theimportance of staying healthy until I read an article three years ago telling whatconsequences an unhealthy lifestyle would

lead to. Since then, I decided toexercise regularly to keep healthy and chose to learn swimming. I took swimminglessons and under the directions of instructors, I quickly got the hang of it. I usuallygo to the swimming pool in the university gym with my roommate twice a week. Ireally enjoy swimming like a fish in the pool. Swimming is a good work-out as itexercises every muscle in my body and helps me keep fit. It can develop coordination and build endurance and it’s also a practic al life skill. In

myfast-pacedlife, swimming is a good way for me to relieve stress and concerns and enjoy thepleasure exercise brings to me.

As a university student, I did loads of group work and cooperated with othersin many situations. An impressive experience is to give a presentation with myteammates. Last semester, one assignment of my management course was to givea presentation on the topic of organizational culture. The lecturer divided the classinto subgroups of four people. During the preparation stage, we read the materials roughly to get a background understanding of the topic. Then, we designed a questionnaire and distributed to workers of 20 companied in different industries in Ningbo. After several days’ of data collection and analysis, we finally drew the conclusion and set the key content. The final step was to make visual aids and note cards. The presentation day was on the end of last semester. We had to do the prein the auditorium in front of about 300 students and also the module convenor. Thanks to our adequate preparation, the presentation went on well and got good feedback. Although the task looked tough at first as none of us had any knowledge in this field, through our cooperation and efforts, it finally turned out to be a success. This project improved my cooperation skills and at the same time brought me close friendship. In the group, everyone was cooperative and ideasand opinions were freely exchanged so that the efficiency was dramaticallyincreased. Everyone played to their strengths and learned from each other. Workingin the group helped us to reach our full potential, improve communicating skills and grow ourselves together.

In 2012,I was in a team to participate a case analysis competition held by Hong Kong institute of certified public accountant. The case was about a mobile company. No one in our team had known this industry before, we were confused at first. Fortunately, our leader showed us a teaching video on how to analyse the case and prepare a report. After watching the video and a long-time discussion, it seemed clear to us what we should do.

My roommate and I were in charge of the company’s strategy. First, we came up with an analysis framework according to the video. Then we delegated the mission and began to search the Internet separately. Whenever anyone got into trouble, we would figure out the solution together. At last, we finished the report beyond our expectation. From then on,I realize the great power of communication

and teamwork
