The best gift I have ever received

Since I was born into the world, I have received a good quantity of gifts, cheap or expensive. But the best gift is not the most expensive one, but the one from which I learned a lot.

Born in a general family, I had fewer toys, less snacks and worse clothes, but more housework when I was still a child. I always asked my mom why the other children had more things than I do. She could only smile bitterly and said nothing. I was full of complaints about her for that.

On my birthday of ten years old, I told my mom that I wanted a toy which I had desired for so long for my birthday gift. The toy was really expensive for mom to afford. But I wanted the toy too much to ignore mom’s feelings. She said nothing again, which made me mad totally. So I yelled at her and ran away. Wondering on the streets, I calmed down gradually and regretted for what I did just now. I knew how tough my mom was suffering for so many years, and I shouldn’t be so capricious. Maybe it was not late yet to apology to my dear mom. Thinking of this, I rushed home at once. When I was home, I told her that I was really sorry to get angry on her and asked for excuse. My mom just kissed me on the cheek, and showed me a gift. I received the gift and opened it. It was the toy! I looked at her surprisingly with tears in my eyes.

At this time, mom said,“You are ten years old today and you are old enough to take on some responsibilities, so if you want anything, just go

for it with your own strength. You can only depend on yourself than anyone else.” I nodded my head heavily. I think this the best gift I’ve ever received!
