Lead-in

Show the students some pictures, including the Great Wall, the Grand Canal and the Dujiangyan Dam. Get the students to know the famous construction projects in the history of China and enhance the national pride of the students. Then show the picture of the Three Gorges Dam and lead to the topic.

Step1 Skimming

Ask the students to read the passage and then match the main idea with each paragraph.

T: In this lesson, we are going to learn about the Three Gorges Dam. Now please look through the passage quickly and get the main idea of each paragraph.
