（一）学习篇
1. Why I Like Learning English
Nowadays, studying English gains popularity in China. I am also among the fans of English. I like learning English for the following reasons. First, English has become an international language. If I can speak English, then I can go almost anywhere around the world without any communication problem. Second, I can get information and knowledge directly from English books, movies and internet. Third, English sounds musical to my ears. I love to hear it and speak it. So I like learning English.
2.Self-study
For a student, the amount of time spent in classrooms with teachers is very limited. It is therefore very important for a student to make good use of his time to have self-study.
To make self-study successful, some rules should be followed. First, one must make a study plan and try to carry it out firmly. Second, one should preview his lessons before a class starts. Third, one should review his lessons immediately after a class when his memory is still fresh. Fourth, studying one’s lessons regularly is essential in self-study.
3.My Study Plan
I decide to make a study plan to improve my English. First, I will read a passage in English for half an hour very morning. I will look up every new word in the dictionary and try to remember them. Second, in the work hours I will try to use every chance to practice my English. Third, in the evening I will practice my oral English for half an hour. And then, I will summarize what I have studied each day.
I hope my English will be improved a lot with my efforts.

4. My Favorite TV program
I like watching TV very much. And my favorite TV program is news. Through the news, I get to know what is happening in our country and in the world every day;
I can find some interesting things and know what we can do and what we can not do through news. Furthermore, I can acquire some knowledge from news. I watch TV for news at the same time every day. I believe that many people like watching TV for news too.
5. My Favorite Food
My favorite food is egg. Firstly, it is soft, delicious and nutritious. It is
good for the old, the young and the weak. Secondly, it is easy to cook. Even when I was in primary school, I Somehow got to know how to cook eggs for my parents, and they were moved a lot. I knew how to make steamed eggs, boiled eggs, fried eggs and egg soup. Thirdly, it is useful. We can use eggs to make cakes, noodles and other food. I like eggs very much.
6. The season I like best
I like winter best. When it snows, everything turns white and bright. Trees and houses are all covered with thick snow. How beautiful the world looks! After a snowfall, my friends and I usually make snowmen and throw snowballs at each other, which give us much pleasure. Although snowing days become rare, I’m still longing for the winter to come, just in hope of a beautiful snowfall. Besides, winter gives me a feeling that spring will not be far behind.

7. My Favorite Sport (之一)
I like sports very much. I like running, skating, playing basketball, swimming and so on. But swimming is my favorite sport. When I was a little boy, my father and mother took me to a swimming pool and taught me how to swim. Swimming is a good sport. When you are swimming in the water, you feel as if you were a lovely fish. I can swim in different ways such as breast stroke, back stroke, free style and butterfly style. The most important thing is that you’ll be strong er if you often go swimming.
My Favorite Sport (之二)
My favorite sport is swimming. There are a few reasons for this. First, swimming can keep me slender and fit. Second, swimming can enrich my life. I usually go to the swimming pool with my good friends. We always have a good time together. Last but not least, when I feel upset, swimming can cheer me up. When I go swimming, I make a goal, either to swim faster or to learn a new swimming style. I always tell myself I can do it. Swimming has become part of my life. I like it.
My Favorite Sport (之三)
There are many kinds of sports that I enjoy, such as swimming, running, and dancing. However, the sport that I like most is basketball. When I was in junior high school, I started to play basketball and became a member of the basketball team in my school. I usually play basketball with my classmates after school. Besides, I like to watch as many basketball games as possible. I love this sport very much. Basketball has given me the most wonderful time in my life.
8. My Favorite Hobby
I have many hobbies. But reading is my favorite hobby. I like reading for three reasons. First of all, books introduce me to a colorful new world. Through reading,
I can trace back to ancient China to see the splendid Chinese culture. It can also bring me to the foreign countries that I have been longing to visit. Secondly, reading can widen my horizon. Most of my knowledge has been obtained from books. Thirdly, reading can provide a moment for thinking.
Reading has become part of my life. At night, I can hardly go to sleep without a book in my hand.
9. My Hobbies
I have quite a few hobbies. I like collecting cards and playing cards with my friends. I like doing physical exercise in the fresh air such as roller-skating and swimming.
In addition, I am interested in drawing pictures, listening to music and singing songs. At present, I'm learning how to play the guitar. Finally, I enjoy learning English because I like speaking with foreigners and I like watching Disney cartoons.
As you can see, my hobbies keep me busy and excited. I'm always looking for new things to do.

10. My Family
There are five people in my family. They're my grandfather, grandmother, father, mother and I. My father is a businessman. He's busy working every day and travels to different places in China. He always has something nice for everybody in my family when he comes back home. My mother is a housewife. She cooks meals, washes clothes, and teaches us lessons every day. I am a part-time student. I am as busy as a bee with my lessons. My grandparents have both retired and enjoy their life very much. I have a happy family.
11. My Classmates
I have many classmates. I would like to introduce some of them. Alice is very cute. She’s always ready to help others. Mary is forgetful. She always fo rgets to bring her textbooks to class. Ben is the most talkative boy in our class. He has a great sense of humor. Linda is a quiet student. She is good at every subject but she never shows off. Allen is a very tall boy. He plays basketball very well. These people are lovely and interesting. I like them very much.
12. My Best Friend
I have a best friend named Li Ning. He is 25 years old now. We’ve been friends since we were in primary school. He is very kind and always ready to help others. He presently works in a joint-venture company, which has cooperative relations with the company I work in. Therefore, we have many opportunities to see each other and talk about our work and our life. We both like traveling very much. When we are free, we will travel together at least once a year. I hope we will be good friends forever.
13. My Teacher / My Favorite Teacher
My favorite teacher is Li Ning. He is a strongly built thirty-year-old man. He is often simply dressed. He has been teaching us English since 2007. He devotes all his time and energy to teaching. He is capable of making his lessons lively and interesting, and all of us like his lessons. He is very strict with us but he shows us great concern. He offers us help whenever we need it. He is not only our good teacher but also our close friend. We all respect and love him.
14. The Person I Feel Most Grateful to
The person I feel most grateful to is my mother. She is the one who has given me life and taken care of me since my birth. No one loves me more than she does. She has done everything silently to make me happy. She is such a traditional mother whose life revolves around her son and household chores. She works hard to support our family though she failed to have a good education when she was young. She loves me and her love is unconditional. That’s why I feel most grateful to her.

15. My Hometown
My hometown is Shanghai. Shanghai is a very large city. According to statistics, there are about 17 million citizens in Shanghai. Shanghai is a modern city. We can see lots of high buildings in downtown areas and numerous cars on the streets. Shanghai is a beautiful city. We can see many buildings of European styles. We can see green trees and grass and all kinds of pretty flowers everywhere all year round. Though it is very hot in summer, I love my hometown Shanghai very much.
16. My Job
In my childhood, I wanted to be a teacher, a doctor, or a scientist, but to tell you the truth, I am a businessman now. I like reading stories about some successful businessmen such as Bill Gates and Li Jiacheng. I believe I will be a man like them some day. With the development of market economy in China, there are many chances in business. So I work very hard and I am always encouraged by my boss. I am studying business in a college of continuing education. I must get myself qualified for my job.
17. A Day to Remember
One hot summer day, my father and I went to the swimming pool. While my father was away, I slipped into the pool! The water kept coming towards me and I drank a lot. I tried very hard to keep my head above the water. I was so afraid that I shouted! Just then, my father saw me and seemed to be shocked. He said, "Calm down, just wave your arms and legs like that!" And I got it! I finally learnt to swim. From this experience I learnt that one's power is unlimited. And one has to stay calm when
in danger.
