Jean Driscoll was born to be an athlete. Being born with a problem in her spine 脊柱didn?t stop her. In fact, Driscoll has won the wheelchair division of the Boston Marathon seven times. She has also won medals in shorter races at the Olympics and the Paralympics.

A young girl’s dream

As a child Driscoll had to wear crutches拐杖to help her walk. However, she enjoyed sports with other kids and taught herself to ride a bike. When Driscoll was 14, she fell off her bike and hurt her hip臀部。After that she had to use a wheelchair.

At first Driscoll was afraid that being in a wheelchair meant stopping sports. Then a friend talked her about wheelchair soccer. Driscoll became interested in it and loved it. As a volunteer teacher, I traveled a long way to a small village school in Longzhou, Guangxi. On my way there, I thought about the village, the school, and the children there.

However, I felt sad when I arrived there. It wasn't what I expected. It didn't look like a school at all! The school had only three rooms, one for Grades 1, 2 and 3, and another one for Grades 4, 5 and 6. There was a third one for me.
