Chapter 15(2)Predicative clause and object clause Teaching goals:

1. Make students have a general understanding of predicative clause and object clause.

2. Improve students’ ability to use predicative clause and object clause

1. The teacher gives students enough examples, and students understand and study the usage of predicative clause and object clause from these examples.

1.表语从句。

在主句中担任表语的从句,叫做表语从句。表语从句可以由陈述分句、疑问分句和名词定语分句担任。

The answer is that he is one of the top three physics experts in his particular field.答案是在他的特殊领域里,他是三位顶尖的物理学家之一。(陈述分句用作表语)The question is whether we shall run out of food soon.问题是我们的食物是不

是很快就要吃完了。(一般疑问分句用作表语,whether引导的分句作表语时不能用if替换)

The question was how he could find enough work to support himself.问题在于他如何能找到足够的工作来维持自己的生活。(特殊疑问分句用作表语)That is how Annie came to be with us.这就是安妮怎样过来与我们一起的。(名词定语分句用作表语)

2宾语从句。

在主句中担任宾语的从句,叫宾语从句。宾语从句有三种,即直接宾语从句、形容词宾语从句和介词宾语从句。

※直接宾语从句,它可以由陈述分句、疑问分句、名词定语分句和感叹分句担任。

He found t hat he was looking down the empty railway track.他发现他在往下看那空荡荡的铁轨。

I don’t know whether I should use this carpet or not.我不知道我应该不应该使用这块地毯。

1.1.1连接代词或连接副词引起的宾语从句

Could you tell me where you are from?你可否告诉我你是哪儿人?

Tell me what you want.告诉我你要什么。

We must find out who did all this.我们必须弄清楚这些都是谁干的。

1.2由关系代词型what等代词引起的宾语从句

We always mean what we say.我们向来说话算话。

We’ll give you whatever help you need.我们将给予你们需要的任何帮助。

I’ll read whichever book you recommend.你推荐的书我都要看。

1.3.由that引起的宾语从句(that可以省略)

He requested that the Premier grant him an interview.

他请求总理接见他。

The letter says that they are leaving on the 20th.

信上说他们二十号动身。

He assured us that he would complete the blueprints in time.

他向我们保证会准时完成图纸。

2. 直接引语变间接引语

直接引语变间接引语应注意的几个方面1.谓语2.时态3.人称4.状语

①He said:“Mother, the boy is very naughty.”

He told his mother that the boy was very naughty.

②He said to me:“I have left my book in your room.”

He told me that he had left his book in my room

③She said to me:“Your pronunciation is better than mine.”

She said that my pronunciation was better than hers.

但这种变化并不是绝对化的,如果意思上没有这种变化的必要(例如是当天说的话)也就不需要作变化

①She said;“I will come here again tonight.”

She said she would come here again tonight.

②He said :“I arrived yesterday morning.”

He said he arrived yesterday morning.

※祈使句的间接引语常用复合宾语的形式来表示

①He said:“Please come again tomorrow.”

He asked me to go there again the next day.

②He said:“Don’t be late again.”

He told me not to be late again.

※间接宾语的谓语不一定用say,tell,ask这几个动词,只要意思允许还可以用admit,agree,affirm,promise,reply,remind,request,declare,exlaim,remark,wonde r,enquire等词

①“Really,that’s my fault.”

He admitted that it was really his fault.

②“Hello!Where are you going?”

He greeted me and asked where I was going.
