1.Some people like to work in a team. Others would rather work individually.

Which do you prefer and why?

I prefer work in a team. It’s like a game, basketball or football match,

you never see the match will win by one person, it can win as the team

cooperation, we often call it team work spirit.A nd it’s same in the work

or daylife.

First, there will be a brain storming. And your brain will be opened.

Second, working with others can make your work easier and save

much time.

Finally, teamwork makes you feel that you are powerful and you are

not fighting by yourself

①I am equally comfortable working as a member of a team and independently. I have experience with independent and team-based work and I see the value in both approaches.I am very comfortable working on a team, but I can also work independently, as well.

I am comfortable working alone and in a group depending on the situation. If the task is easy enough

to tackle on my own without brainstorming or breaking up the work without a team, I am happy to work on my own. However, if the assignment is a high priority or too much for one person to handle, I welcome working with a team to tackle the project together. In my experience, most projects require a combination of independent work and brainstorming depending on their various elements.

Working in sales has strengthened my abilities to work both alone and with others. I am comfortable engaging with a customer face to face, but I also believe in the benefit of sitting and brainstorming with coworkers about best practices and alternative approaches. Additionally, having a team behind me gives me confidence that if I come across something I am unsure of while working alone, I have the resources to consult someone who can educate or help me.

②There are basically two ways to get work done. One is to work individually. In this way, people can decide for themselves when to start work and how to do it. What’s more, they will be able to learn how to solve problems on their own.

People may also choose to work in a team, where they can learn from each other and help each other. Besides, they may work out better ways to get work done by discussion.

Personally, I prefer to work in a team, which offers me a chance to learn how to get along with others and to share my experience with them. As the work can be divided among several people, it can be done efficiently. Teamwork is always important.

2.Please comment on the following statement: Computer ethics contribute to a

better and safe use of computers in our daily life.

What are ethics? ethics are the moral values that stop you from doing anything that is not legal and that does not harm or damage anyone else's work, or interests. These simple etiquette and ethics help the environment to be more safe, friendly and co-operative for others around. Computer ethics are nothing but how we use our personal morals and ethics while using the computer for various purposes. They consist of all the rules that you would apply to not misuse any information that is not yours to use, or to access any data that is not owned by you. With issues like cyber crimes, plagiarism, hacking and password thefts, it has become important to know the importance of computer ethics to be able to create a safe computer-based environment.

Your computer is not just an electronic device for communication, it is your data store, your photo album, your work recorder, your social network, your calculator and what not..., it is what you are!

If you get involved in downloading information or accessing portals that you are not allowed to, you are opening the doors of various issues and threats like viruses and Trojans that can illegally enter your system and crash it completely! On the other hand, if your system is used in the way it is supposed to, you are creating a safer and a better atmosphere wherein you can rest assured that your work and your personal information is absolutely safe and secure.

Computer ethics are something that cannot be imposed on you, it is rather something that should be followed out

of your own will and desire. The way you use the computer to access information speaks a lot about you and your ethical values. What would you do if you get your colleague's password? Would you ask him or her to change it since you accidentally found out, or would you try to get some information that you are not supposed to? There are two kinds of people in this world, one who follow the rules and respect them at the same time, and the others who don't really care. Should you care about the ethics involved in becoming a responsible citizen? You decide! Nevertheless, if you are caught, rest assured the authorities won't care about you as well

3.Why are we loosing productive land? How shall we address the land problems?

First reason is overgrazing by farm animals. The animals eat too many of the plants, they aren’t enough plants left to hold the soil in place. Then the topsoil is eroded by wind and rain they carry it away. Second reason is over-cutting of trees. If trees are cut down and not replanted, there is nothing to hold the good soil, wind and water carry the good soil away and it erodes quickly, leaving land that is dry and less productive. Third reason is farming methods are another big factor. The traditional methods that have been used for hundreds of years no longer work well. Some farmers may use too much fertilizer on the limited land they have or not let the land rest from year to year causing it to become less

fertile.

The experts try to help countries look at their specific problems and figure out what possible changes they can make to protect their land. Farmers might try to grow genetically engineered crops that don’t hurt the oil as much or plant new trees, or raise fewer animals, or build new irrigation systems that leave less salt in the soil.

4.Are you for or against the wide application of DNA testing?

When we were born, we completely didn’t know what the future may have in store for us. But there definitely are some relationship between something inside us and something that will happen. The former is, as we all know n, DNA, which to some extents determines what we look like, what we like to do, and what our future will be.

Due to the information that DNA contains, scientists have found a way to identify possible genetic relationshi p between two persons, which is the most common application of DNA testing. It helps people determine a male li ne by researching Y chromosome, which passes only from father to son, for instance, to figure out which great em peror a mummy might be. Besides, we can use paternity tests to help immigrants find their ancestors.

Another widely use of DNA testing is for criminal investigation. The policemen can easily find the suspect by detecting the DNA in the hair or something else that is part of the suspect’s body, which is left in the scene of cri me.

There is one important thing which must be made clear that DNA testing must be used properly, in order to av oid ethical problems. It should be considered only to help verify exhaustive research of the historical world. After all, this technique has assisted people in solving so much problems, and it surely will continue to contribute to our everyday life.

6.Please comment on the following statement: Man can do nothing in face of natural

disasters.

Human survival and development of the Earth's environment has led to the environment worse, the earth's ani mal and plant extinction, which are necessary for human survival? Human more want to overcome nature, the mor e subject to nature's counterattack. In the face of nature's counterattack, humanity will become more helpless. Ther efore, we believe that nature can not be conquered. That’s all, thank you.

Can it indicate that man can conquer the nature? In the several millions of years from human birth, but we still suffer a lot when the disaster comes, why? Is there a disaster which people know before it happens and prevent it? Thank you.

I have to lay stress on it again that some natural disasters are not powerful enough and people can overcome them with the development of high technology.Facing with disasters that cannot predicted in time ,a single person can merely do nothing .And that is what horrifies everybody !

There is a gold chain runs through the universe, there is a red line links all living things, it is the things in the course of development of natural formation and the rules of the law - the law of life and death. The law forms natural, can not be easily changed, nor transfer with the people’s will. People can only obey the rulers, not change the law. So we insist on that nature can not be conquered.

7.Why is economics regarded as a science?

The field of economics uses scientific methodology to unveil truths about its nature. Economists often perform experiments and use scientific tools for crafting analyses. However, much of the attention paid to economics focuses on its non-scientific aspects.

At its core, the field of economics tries to uncover basic universal facts. Like many sciences, economics has a strong foundation in mathematics, and it is developed by testing hypotheses. In many ways, economics can be viewed as a field of applied psychology. Understanding how humans behave in certain situations and respond to changes is essential for the field's development.

Unlike the so-called "hard sciences," however, many economic hypotheses are difficult to test. Economic systems are run by governments, and it is immoral to cause economic harm to individuals and populations. With its strong mathematical foundation and its reliance on human behavior, economics straddles the gap between more basic types of science and so-called "soft sciences" such as anthropology and sociology.

In the media and in politics, however, the scientific aspects of the field are often ignored. Politicians might discuss the morality of different economic policies, and they might make promises based on faulty economic premises. Because economic policies have such a dramatic effect on the lives of voters, politicians spend a considerable amount of time developing a message that influences voters.

https://www.sodocs.net/doc/6911570688.html,ment on the impact of globalization on culture.

Briefly speaking, we wear a pair of NIKE shoes, eat hamburgers in KFC and talk with friends with an I-phone in our hands. So this is the globalization. Even though different people have different views, it is necessary to notice the tremendous impact on that globalization has been brought to our life. As for me, I’d like to discuss it with following 3 points.

Firstly, globalization makes our material and moral life more colorful. In turns, it provides foreigners with more chances to know all-sided Chinese culture.China,as one of the four ancient civilizations, has a long history and splendid national culture. After more than 5000 years of developing, this ancient country now has measurable extensive knowledge and profound scholarship. Foreigners can surf on the Internet and get more information about China. And also they can find a lot of "Chinese Town "and taste many Chinese characteristic food. It is also a good way to learn more custom on Chinese food. That means they can get what we want without being in China.

Secondly, with the foreign culture rushing to us like a heavy flood, it contributes us to rethink and to take actions to protect our traditional culture. Because of globalization, we do realize that as one of the successor of Chinese culture, it’s our duty responsibilities to inherit and carry forward our culture. Meanwhile, we should also have an inclusive and open attitude to the rest of the world culture .When the South Korea asked for that the Dragon Boat Festival belongs to their country's traditional culture, most of us was shocked and annoyed. We begin to pay attention to the protection of our own culture. Thus, our culture will be kept and even promoted.

Thirdly, as we know ,every coin has two sides. On one hand ,it is a chance for our traditional culture. On the other hand ,it's also a challenge. There are more and more famous foreign brands and festival taking root in our coutry .More and more lovers spend their Valentine's day together on 14th Feb instead of the 15th July, the traditional Valentine's day in our China.Even they may remember the date of Christmas Day more clearly rather than the date of Dragon Boat Festival.

So,at the present state,it's urgent to rejuvenated our culture and carry foward it to the world. And that's it.As a current college student ,we should make a good judgment on the relationship of globalization and our traditional culture. That is,we need to absorb the good factors and abolish the bad.

10.N owadays, people all over the world share the same fashions, advertising, brands,

eating habits and TV channels.Do the disadvantages of this trend outweigh the advantages?

As to the beneficial effects to a corporation, it is capable to decide on a flexible model for the further growth which allows it to make the most use of local and overseas markets. For example, under the background of globalization, international trade is a common form of business, therefore, the firm can select to expand the business either in the local nation or across border to the appropriate nations where can help to achieve the most amount of profits, which is the main purpose of every corporation. Moreover, To expand to other countries means that has a wider market owning new customer groups with various demands, which consequently means that there hides huge business opportunities and a more generous margins. In a word, the increasing liberalization of markets all over the world are provided by globalization to give multinational companies access to customers and profit margin unexpected.

Adversely, in despite of so many advantages, the opposite aspects can not be ignored and weigh even more. Firstly, globalization may lead the disadvantaged companies to the situation of bankruptcy. In order to gain better development, a firm is much difficult to avoid the fierce competition in an open and liberal economic environment. However, such environment and conditions indeed do not avail for those weaker companies with low level of technology and productivity, low quality of the staff and more backward level of management, which are easier eliminated from the market than companies with a powerful and abundant strength. Secondly, in the open globe, corporations have to bear higher risk in the process of merger, acquisition or engaging normal commercial activities. Before the implementation of a commercial decision, accurate expectation of earnings and reasonable capital amount of investment should be projected according to the repeated investigation to the target market, unless it could be suffered from several types of risks, such as credit risk, market risk and capital risk, which may cause imponderable damages to the company, even may lead to the elimination from local market. Therefore, a company should weigh the advantages and disadvantages of globalization, especially the drawbacks, and avoid risks as much as possible.

11.Some students like online courses. Others like to take traditional classroom

courses. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Online courses are becoming more and more popular. The ability to relax at home and use our own personal computers to obtain college credit is taking more and more students out of classrooms and putting them

online.Technological evolution has obviously made our lives easier and more efficient. With that said, it only seems fit that we should utilize online learning in our colleges and universities. While it may seem fit that we adapt our learning style to keep up with the technology available to us, there are reasons to believe that online courses are not nearly as beneficial to us as traditional style classroom learning.

Lack of Interpersonal Skill Development

Online courses usually require no face to face interaction with classmates or teachers. Information on assignments is posted online and may be completed at leisure without having to attend class meetings. While the leisure of this concept is nice, it takes away from the interpersonal skills that students need to acquire along with their education.

When in a classroom, students may be required to speak their mind. They may be required to give presentations or speeches. They will have to work in groups with all kinds of people with many differing viewpoints. Online courses require none of that. Businesses often tell university faculty that they wish graduating students had more interpersonal skills. They say it is crucial to success in their careers. Traditional style learning teaches these things. Now obviously if businesses are telling universities they wish these skills were more evident, there is room for improvement. Still, online courses are not the answer. If anything, online courses will only hurt a students ability to speak and interact with others in a way that will help them in their life and career.

When students are required to interact with classmates and professors, they gain confidence in their ability to speak and interact with others. It grants them the opportunity to learn how to carry themselves in a professional manner. Because online learning can't do this, it's value to a student is significantly lower.

Lack of Memory and Learning Development

Why do many students sign up for online courses? Well, one reason is of course the fact that they do not have to attend an actual class and can learn at home. A more serious, unspoken reason however may be the fact that online learning does not require the student to study or memorize material in the way that traditional learning does.

Students taking a test or quiz online do not have to worry about a professor catching them cheating. Students have the ability to use a book and quickly look up answers online. Even while many tests are timed and many professors don't mind the use of a book on certain things, is this really the way a student should learn? When someone does not have to study and memorize material, it does not embed in his or her long term memory the way it does when they do study it. This is a serious flaw with online courses. It does not promote memory development. Students may not realize it while enrolled in a difficult course, but they will better appreciate the education they receive in college if they are required to put in more effort in obtaining it. A child does not learn how to spell by looking up words in a dictionary, he memorizes the words using flashcards or something similar. This is what enables him to actually learn.

Lack of Student Motivation

One problem with online classes is that all too often, they motivate us to get a degree, but not to learn. Having debates and in class discussions with multiple professors who all have unique personalities motivates students to develop their own opinions. It motivates them to want to voice their opinions. If a student is scared to voice his or her opinion, the classroom is the place he will practice overcoming that fear, not online.

When students receive face to face verbal feedback and constructive criticism from their professors, it instills in them a motivation to not want to let their professors down. It is the relationships and bonds that are formed that give face to face learning an advantage over online learning.

Motivation is a skill that cannot be developed when students are allowed to complete task at their own leisure. They may get the work done, but this does not teach a student how to complete task under the pressure of time.

During their careers, they will need to complete task in a certain amount of time on a whim when they are told. If a professor assigns a paper at the start of class and requires it be handed in at the end, that is good preparation for a career. Reading about a similar assignment online that is due in six days doesn't teach this.

Make the Smarter Choice

There are some things that need to remain the same as time goes on and societies evolve. Education is one of them. While there is an argument that online learning allows people to learn at their own pace, it is still not as valuable as the education obtained from a traditional style classroom. Keep in mind, this is only true if the teachers and professors are good at what they do and if the student is willing to learn. If not, then regardless of the method, nothing will be learned. It just does not make sense to pay for online education when you gain more skill sets and knowledge with traditional style learning (which is typically less expensive).

12.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Young people know

more about the modern world than their parents do. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

I don’t think young people know more about the modern world than their parents.

First of all, parents have more social experience and practical knowledge than young people. In the second place, although young people spend more time and energy on computers and smart phones, they do this just for entertainment, it doesn’t mean they know this world better than their parents. Last but not least, nowadays most of young people are spoiled by their parents, they don’t understand the hardships and difficulties in this relentless and unforgiving world.

13.S hould Tianjin try to preserve its old, historic buildings or destroy them and

replace them with Modern buildings?

Some people believe that older places and historic buildings should be replaced by newer modern constructions as a necessity of modernization while others believe that these places are parts the architectural heritage of the place giving the city some kind of personality it needs. The first attitude has been the stronger one widely accepted for a rather long period but people are fortunately changing their minds and accepting the logical idea.

The historical buildings’ most important roles are their cultural effects. I believe rapid changes are harmful to societies as a community is as susceptible to severe changes as a human being. The old places act as a memory for society. When people see their cultural and historical background everyday on their way they will not forget their traditional virtues. However this essential effect has been ignored in many countries, blindly seeking modernization. For example this happened in our city, Tehran. Tehran had 8 very beautiful gates on different sides of the city border. When government decided to extend the city farther, they were unfortunately destroyed. Today if you take a trip round the city you will find nothing telling you the story of this city. In contrast you will find historical notes and guides all around Paris in every street or square. You may notice a sign denoting that a well

known scientist once lived in the street you are passing or you may even see one saying "This square was where many people were killed during the revolution."

Another really beneficial advantage of keeping these treasures is their tourist attraction. Nobody travels all the way round the world to just see a big skyscraper. But each year thousands of people go to Egypt to visit the Majestic Phoenix. That is because they really understand what is worth spending time and money on! Our country's Capital, Tehran, is a so-called modern city in contrast to Isfehan, a very ancient and historic city. When you go to Isfehan you are amazed at the historic sights to the degree that you do not want to leave there. But when someone has to travel to Tehran just to do some official work in an organization, he just tries to escape the horrible place.

So as a conclusion I believe it is better to keep the historic buildings even if it might block some advancements. You do not have the right to destroy a building in order to give way to a new highway under construction. Considering it’s cultural and financial {Can these two things be contraste d?} Damages you also have to keep in mind that these historic places do not merely belong to this generation. Our children can blame us for the destruction of their ancestors’ legacy, which was truly theirs.

14.D o you think it necessary for China to hold large conferences and activities such

as the Olympic Games, APEC, and Expo? Use specific examples to support your ideas.

As we all know, Olympic game is a sacred activity. So there will be a lot of benefits for being a country to hold the most important sport event in this world. First of all, it has a major effect on the economy in that country, because the huge amount of people will come to the host country for attending this event, they are providing a good opportunity for the development of tourism and some other related industries, so that the host cities will also be permanently improved. Normally, the athletics will be more confident and achieve good result due to the host factor, so when they obtain a certain reward, they will also win the respect from other players, and this will definitely bring international prestige to the host country.

1. Encourages Investment in Transport and Infrastructure.

Major sporting events usually require upgrades to transport and communication links. This investment leaves a lasting legacy for the whole economy. Better transport links reduce congestion and help to improve efficiency for local business. It can help increase the productive capacity of the economy (shifting aggregate supply to the right). For example, for the London Olympics in 2012 we have seen new rail links created in East London, and improvements to existing underground and over ground train services (London Olympic rail networks)

2. Influx of Foreign Visitors.

A major sporting event like the Olympics can attract 10,000s of people for the duration of the games. These foreign tourists bring a boost to the local economy. In particular the local tourist trade, shops / hotels will benefit from the surge in visitor numbers. However, it is worth noting that these visitor numbers tend to be temporary. The major sporting event only lasts for a few weeks; potentially there could be many empty hotel beds in the future. On the other hand people argue a major sporting event can lead to a long term growth in visitor numbers. e.g. China

felt the Beijing Olympics created a feeling that China could be a popular tourist destination. Barcelona saw higher visitor numbers continue after the Barcelona Olympics of 1992.

3. Job Creation

Typically, major sporting events require investment in building stadium and hotels. This creates jobs for the local economy for up to 4 years before the event. These extra jobs help create a positive multiplier effect amongst the local economy. It is hoped that the London Olympics will help regenerate the east end of London. Some argue this temporary job boost can prove more permanent, if the economic regeneration continues after the games.

4. Higher Economic Growth

It is estimated that the ‘Olympics Effect’leads to a boost in economic growth due to the higher investment and foreign visitors. This leads to higher tax revenues for the government

15.Take-away Apps on mobile phones are more and more popular nowadays. Some

people believe that we are becoming lazier with the use of them. What do you think of this phenomenon?

With the modern technology developing, the mobile phone becomes more and more popular in our life. Sometimes we find out that we could hardly do anything without it. We keep in touch with those we know by phone. We call our friends to discuss where and when we meet. We call the restaurants to order take-away food. We even have meetings through the phone with our coworkers when we can't come back...It's no doubt that phones make our life more convenient and effective, but it makes us lazier at the same time. More and more people complain that people today are not as close as we used to be. So you see, everything has two sides--positive side and negative side. We can't blame the phone. We just need to find a balance.

16.In your opinion, what are some of the qualities of a good parent? List reasons

and specific examples to explain why these characteristics are important.

Parents are important part of our life. Whatever in our childhood or in the future life, parent can never be replaced. When we were in danger, parents protect us as much as possible. Wh en we face the problem, we can call for parents to help us. However, a parent only have love is far away from a good parent. How can one be considered as a good parent?

First of all, the respect that children receive is of primary importance. Although we are possi bly still a little cub in parents’ eyes, we always want them to treat us as adults. Whether in ex pressing some views or in making some decisions, we hope they can respect or accept our o pinions. For instance, if parents always want to pry into their children’s privacy, even somet ime we do not know, we are angry when hearing this situation. Then we may argue with o ur parents and do not trust them any more.Respect is the basis for a good relationship bet ween parents and children. 尊重

Moreover, understanding is also a significant quality. When communicating with us, parents should try to view things from our perspective. Maybe we have different opinions regarding whether some things ought to be done like that. We both expect we can understand ourselv es. Therefore, good parents often try to understand what children think or how they feel. 理解

Finally, in this day and age, especially in China, a couple of families only have one child. Spoil i ng children is commonplace. Having love is a beneficial stuff. However, if parents indulge too much love on their children, it will be harmful for their development. When some children d o something, they may never consider the result and never shoulder the responsibility. Good parents can affect their children maximally, including their behaviors, words and ideas. Whe n growing up, how can we face the trouble and educate our offspring. Those are what we lea rn from our parents.

Respecting and understanding children and give the appropriate love play the pivotal role.

But there are sill some o ther words.some people is against to it .For the simple reason that college is a place for us to get accustomed to sociaty gradually We should not be too eager to it . Movi ng ahead steps by steps is the truth.

From my perspectives, doing part-time jobs is an excellent way to exercise ourselves, The sociaty is more than dangerous On if we are aware of this and exercise more in a dvance , can we behave more matrure when we meet with troubles .

Doing part-time jobs can polish our life and help us flying higher and further.

Here are some of the top places to visit in the city.

1. Haihe River

Items 1-8 are from College English Integrated Course 2 (大学英语综合教程第二册) 1. What are the differences between Chinese and American learning ways? Which one do you prefer, why? Chinese learning way is show children exactly what to do or how to do, and teaching by holding children’s hand. American learning way is making children learn to think by himself, to solve problems on his own and even to discover new problems, for which creative solutions are wanted. It’s value originality and independence more than the Chinese do. In my perspective, I prefer tradition Chinese learning way. There are two reasons for it. First, children can come back for more and happier. He can know the solution immediately and learn effetely. Second, I was taught by this tradition Chinese way, and I think my learning ability is well now. 2. How do you comment on Karl Green's way of life? Give your reasons.Karl Green lives in a modest apartment, wears suitable cloth and has a dependable 1999 car. Though he is not rich, his life is colorful. He helps a lot of people and feels connect. He is psychological satisfaction. 3. What do you think causes the generation gap, and how to solve this problem? Several reasons can account for this common phenomenon. Firstly, the gap between p arents and teenagers is a little big. That’s to say, parents are mutual and old-fashioned while teenagers are quite active, passive and in style. Therefore, it’s normal that parent s and teenagers are both very hard to find the common language. Second, the most important reason is that parents and teenagers are usually not trying to under stand each other. Just like Heidi’s father get with on his children.Thirdly, the children want to be more independent, but the parents still want to take children under their wings. I think we should build a bridge between parents and children. The can have a family meeting and exchange each side’s opinion, communicating and to have an agreement.Parents can also observe their children’s behavior in order to understand their children’s personality and reduce the quarrels between them.In conclusion, to have a close relationship between parents and children, it is rather important for each

Topics for Oral test 1. Which great leader do you admire most? What qualities did/does he/she have? bill gates 2. Which do you cherish more, your friendship with a good friend or your romantic relationship? obviously, friend is easy to make, but lover is kind of hard to seek for. Since relationship between friends might be not that close compared to romantic relationship, I will probably take it serious and cherish this sweet relationship. Also, I believe that my friends will support me and our relationship won’t be tense and freezing because of this. As the Chinese saying goes, once you got a boyfriend or a girlfriend, you may leave your friends out of your mind. I partly agree this, and when I fall in love, especially at the very beginning, I think I will cherish it more than friendship. 3. What factors would you consider first if you were to find a job (even a part-time job)? I will first consider whether this company and the offered position is high potential. I think high potential is a quality that is vital for the company’s future development and its personnel’s self improvement. Every one need a room to promote and realize one’s self-value. Another factor I concern is—its location. I’d like to work and live in big cities because big cities offer so many opportunities and a higher salary while small cities can’t. 4. Whom do you usually turn to when in trouble, vour parents or your friends? They know me better than anyone else and their vision is wide, their thoughts are mature.
