Being a Lifelong Learner

Learning doesn’t finish when you leave school. Learning can become a way of life which helps you to achieve your greatest potential. We never stop learning; there is always something new and interesting to discover nearby. Learning new skills can be a bit scary but we all need to do this each time we reach a personal learning plateau. Break through the plateau by actively seeking support and advice. Take up some training, further education, night classes— any new interest which will help you to develop your strengths. Keep observing and listening and keep your brain active. Remember, the world is your classroom and you are never too old to learn.

Independence Day

Good morning, Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom...Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution...but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live, to exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

To totally and completely Express myself

Jeet Kune Do is not a style or an organized institution that one can be a member of. Because of styles, people are separated. They are not united together. Because styles became law. Jeet Kune Do is the way of the intercepting fist. It is “how can I most efficiently, directly end a moment of combat?” You either understand that or you don’t. And that is that.

And when you’re talking about combat…well I mean if it is a sport, now you’re talking about something else. You have regulations. You have rules. But when you’re talking about fighting as it is. It has no rules. Real fighting, well then, baby, you’d better train every part of your body. You have to because that is the expression of the human body. I mean the… everything, I mean, not just the hand.

I do not believe in styles any more. I mean I do not believe that there is such thing as like

a Chinese way of fighting…or the Japanese way of fighting or whatever way of fighting. Because if you don’t have styles, if you just say, “Well here I am, you know, as a human being, how can I express myself totally and completely?” Now, that way, you won’t create a style, because style is a crystallization. I mean, that way it’s a process of continuing growth.

You ask yourself “how can you honestly express yourself at that moment?” If I want to punch, I’m gonna do it, man, and I am gonna do it. Not you want to punch because you’re trying to avoid getting hit. So that is the type of thing you have to train yourself into it, to become one with the spirit.

Let Us All Be Heard

There really is nothing more important to me than striving to be a good human being. So to be here tonight and to be acknowledged as the first to receive this honor is beyond expression in words for me.

We all are just regular people seeking the same thing-----we all just want to know that we matter. We want validation. We want the same things. We want safety and we want to live a long life. We want to find somebody to love. We want to find somebody to laugh with and have the power and the place to cry with when necessary.

The greatest pain in life is to be invisible. What I’ve learned is that we all just want to be heard. And I thank all the people who continue to let me hear your stories, and by sharing your stories, you let other people see themselves and for a moment, glimpse the power to change and the power to triumph.

Maya Angelou said, “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” I want you to know that this award to me means that I will continue to strive to give back to the world what it has given to me, so that I might even be more worthy of tonight’s honor.

Rev. Al Sharpton

在迈克尔杰克逊葬礼上的发言

Michael did that. Michael made us love each other. Michael taught us to stand with each other. There are those that like to dig around mess, but millions around the world, we are gonna up hold his message. It’s not about mess. It’s about his love message.

As you climb up mountains, sometimes you scar your knee, sometimes you break your skin, but don’t focus on the scar, focus on the journey. Michael beat ’em. Michael rose to the top. He outsang his cynics. He outdanced his doubters. He outperformed the pessimists. Every time he got knocked down, he got back up. Every time they counted him out, he came back in. Michael never stopped! Michael never stopped! Michael never stopped!

I want his three children to know: Wasn’t anything strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with. But he dealt with it… he dealt with it anyway. He dealt with it for us.

So some came today, Mrs. Jackson, to say goodbye to Michael, I came to say thank you. Thank you because you never stopped. Thank you because you never give up. Thank you cause you never give out. Thank you because you tore down our division. Thank you because you eradicated our barriers. Thank you cause you gave us hope. Thank you, Michael. Thank you, Michael. Thank you, Michael.

英语口语发音要诀_把单词读音发准

英语口语发音要诀把单词读音发准 1. Listen to yourself. 如果你听不到自己的发音问题,要纠正就很难了。试着把你将的话录下来并和英语为母语人士将的对比一下。应对口语非常有效。 2. Slow down! 很多英语学习者常说语速太快容易养成他们的坏习惯。由于太快而模糊不清是口语考试的大忌。所以我们要accuracy 然后才是fluency,每天操练一些基本语言以单音节开始,然后单词,把几个词连在一起,组成句子。这样你就能慢慢开始表达自己的思想了。 3. Picture it... 闭上你的眼睛并在说出口之前想一想如何发这个音。想象出口型和脸部动作。这个可以配合看电影来做,留意Hollywood的明星是怎么样一字一句的说出那些令人神魂颠倒的话语的。 4. Get physical! 发音是个形体动作。要学会嘴巴的发声方法和移动肌肉的方式。每天集中训练几个音。你发this, thank, they,和little, wool等单词困难吗?试试发‘th’,将你的舌头放在齿间(不要咬住)并从口中吐气。感受气流从你的舌间吹过。 5. Watch yourself. 站在镜子前查看当你发某些固定音时的嘴型,唇型和舌头的位置。和你看到的native speaker的发音对比!平时还可以把自己的发音模样录成video,仔细观察比较。 6.Copy the experts. 绝对没有取代从专家-英语母语人士处学习发音的方式。因此仔细听!听英语广播节目并看英语的电视节目和电影。尽量不要念字幕!模仿你所听到的-就算你还不肯定他们说的话。 7. Find a language buddy.

适合练习口语地英语短文

1. Yesterday...Today...AND Tomorrow 昨天,今天,还有明天 There are two days in every week that we should not worry about, two days that should be kept free from fear and apprehension. One is Yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed, forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed. Nor can we erase a single word we said - Yesterday is gone! The other day we shouldn't worry about is Tomorrow with its impossible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. Tomorrow is beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds - but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet unborn. This leaves only one day - Today. Any man can fight the battles of just one day; it is only when you or I add the burdens of those two awful eternities- Yesterday and Tomorrow- that we break down. It is not the experience of Today that drives man mad - It is remorse or bitterness for something which happened Yesterday, and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring. Let us, therefore, live One Day at a Time!

6.开音节:a) 辅音+元音+辅音+e : name, bike, home, due, plane b) 辅音+元音: he, go, hi, do, be, tree, three, hello 7.闭音节:a) 辅音+元音+辅音: bad, bed, sit, hot, cup, let, mad b)元音+辅音:it, is, of, in, on, up, out, ant 8.

[e] [?] [?] [?] [?] [?] [ei]、[ai]、[?i]、[i?]、[??]、[u?]、[au] 、[?u] 单元音(12个) 长元音 /i:/ /?:/ /ɑ:/ /?:/ /u:/ 短元音 /?/ /e/ /?/ /?/ /?/ /?/ /?/ 双元音(8个) /e?/ /a?/ /??/ /??/ /a?/ /??/ /e?/ /??/ 辅音部分(28个) [p]、[b] 、[t]、[d]、[k]、[g]、[f]、[v]、[s]、[z]、[θ]、[e]、[?]、[?]、[t?]、[d?] [tr]、[dr]、[ts]、[dz]、[m]、[n]、[?]、[h]、[l]、[r]、[j]、[w]

It’s none of your business.

Unit 1 Basic Concepts: Syllables, Stress & Rhythm Listening Exercise 1 When we learn to speak English, we are learning a new way of listening and speaking. The purpose of this textbook is to try to make your ears sharper for the sounds of English and the way the sounds are organized; to help you get familiar with pitch movements of English utterances and the message it conveys; and to help you improve your English pronunciation and intonation. When you can hear English properly you will be able to improve your spoken English. Listening Exercise 2 In words with two or more syllables in English, one of the syllables will receive more stress than the others. Look up these words in the dictionary and you will see a mark indicating stress in front of this syllable. People often have difficulty understanding these words if the stress is wrong because a word is considered mispronounced if the wrong syllable stress is used. Correct stress is, therefore, as important as correct sounds. Listening Exercise 3 Listen to the following words and underline the primary stress of each word. Example: soft ware Sun day 1.blueprint 2.driveway 3.motorboat 4.textbook 5.beefsteak 6.notebook 7.greenhouse 8.forestfire 9.football 10.paperback Listening Exercise 4 Listen to the pitch change on the long stressed syllables of the following words. Underline the stressed syllable of each of the words. Example: air plane ( 2 ) 1. receive ( ) 2.dictionary ( ) 3.understand ( ) 4. because ( ) 5. considered ( ) 6. mispronounced ( ) 7. correct ( ) 8.important ( ) 9.timetable ( ) 10.textbook ( ) Listening Exercise 5 Listen to the following sentences. Decide how many syllables are in each sentence. Example: They worked all night ( 4 )

英文发音技巧:让自己口语变得有节奏

连读有两种规则,分别为: 1、以辅音结尾的单词+元音开头的单词: 如:(1)I’d li(ke a)nother bow(l o)f rice. 这里like / laik / 以辅音结尾,another 以元音开头,所以连读;(2)We have an English friend. 这个句子有两处连读:前一处是have的尾辅音/v/与an的开头元音//连读为/v/;后一处是an的尾辅音/n/与English的开头音素/i/连读为/ni/。举例:I’m~an~English boy. It~is~an~old book. Let me have~a look~at~it。 Ms Black workedin~an~office last~yesterday. I called~you half~an~hour~ago。 Put~it~on, please.Not~at~all. Please pick~it~up。 注意:以辅音结尾指的是音标中的最后一个音是辅音,而不是单词的结尾,这如同 u[ju:.]niversity前面的定冠词必须用a 一样。 2、以辅音结尾的单词 + h开头的单词h不发音,与前面的辅音连读 what wil(l he) [wili]do? Ha(s he) done it before? Mus(t he) [ti] go? Can he do it? Should he….? Tell him to ask her…. Lea(ve him) [vim]. For him (连读这个词,会发现和forum 很相似) 3、以-r或-re字母结尾的单词+元音开头的单词时,可将/r/与后面的元音拼读。 如:They looked for it here and there。这个句子也有两处连读:前一处是for it合读为/frit/,后一处是here and合读为/hirnd/。举例:They’re my father~and mother. For instance, if a teacher-training student finds a part-time job to teach in a family serving as a home tutor, his practice will enable him to better understand how to teach well. Moreover, students can accumulate work experience through part-time jobs, which will benefit their future job-hunting. Part-time jobs act as warm-up exercises for students to take full-time jobs after graduation and help them to prepare for future careers.
