Lately,we study the text about “The art of the table ”. From the text, the author believes that culinary customs have had a certain influence on the character of Chinese people. I really agree with this point.
Many people have saw the intensely popular TV program—A Bite Of China. The latest seven part documentary offers insights into the geographical, historical and culture dimensions of what the Chinese eat. China’s long history ,vast territory and extensive contact with many other cultures have given birth to the distinctive Chinese culinary art. As a saying goes “you are what you eat”. In my opinion, food is always connected with people, reflecting their different living situations and attitudes. For example, people in the north like noodle ,but the south like rice. Then northerner is strong, bold and generous;southerner is gentle, graceful and restrained. People in Sichuan province is hot. It is probably their special cuisine which is famous for its spicy and hot food.
Besides, many Chinese people value the time when the families or friends can get together—cases in which food serves as reminds of happy times. So,diet is not only the need of the body but also the psychological demand.
