Unit1 Can you play the guitar?

一.单元教材分析

本单元的中心话题是运用情态动词谈论自己在某一方面所具有的能力。整个单元的内容是围绕情态动词can 展开的。通过本单元的学习,使学生能够运用情态动词can 表达自己在某一方面所具有的才能,谈论自己的喜好与意愿,能够自荐或参加各种课外俱乐部,并制作海报,而且学会写出招聘广告.并让学生在实践中学会和使用目标语,鼓励学生积极参加各种课外活动,培养学生的多方面才能及团队精神。

二.Teaching aims

1)知识目标:

A学习重点词汇:dance, swim,sing,play,chess paint,speak Japanese, play the guitar,art music,guitar, drum,piano,,trumpet,violin

B掌握情态动词can 的肯定句和否定句、情态动词can 的一般疑问句、特殊疑问句及肯否定回答;

C学会制作招聘广告

2)能力目标:

A学会运用情态动词谈论自己的喜好与意愿;

B运用情态动词can 谈论自己在某一方面所具备的才能;

C成立同学们自己喜爱的各种俱乐部并为其制作海报。

3)情感目标:

通过实践让学生体验学习英语的乐趣,并能勇于展示自己的才能,通过小组活动谈论彼此的特长与爱好。指导学习积极与他人交流,相互学习,相互帮助,培养团队精神。

三.Teaching methods

采用Classifying,Role—playing,Comprehending in context和Skimming的学习策略,利用教学图片或制作多媒体课件来展开课堂Pairwork问答式的口语交际活动、小组活动和写作练习,谈论各自的能力。本单元的教学法建议:语音教学:模仿操练;词汇教学:演示讲解、情景操练、反复使用;口语教学:互相操练、对话练习、交际活动;阅读教学:选词填空练习;听力教学:图文配对和对话选择;写作教学:填空造句、模仿。

Unit 1 Can you play the guitar?

Period 1

I、Teaching goals :

1.Knowledge goals:

(1) To master some new words: dance, sing, swim, draw , speak English, play

the guitar, play chess, and so on.

(2) To master the usage of modal verb“can”.

2. Ability goals:

(1) use“can”to talk about one’s abilities and likes

(2) Arouse students’ interest i n English by group work, and help students to

form good learning habits.

To help students to love English, show their abilities, and communicate with other people actively.

Step 1:Revision and lead in

The teacher says I like basketball. Then asks: Do you like basketball/ volleyball? Do you want to join a basketball club?

Step 2:Presentation

Ask the students to look at the pictures of Page 1 , there are some clubs in it. Let’s look at the clubs. What are they? They are art club, English club, chess club, swimming club and music club. What club do you want to join? Help the students to answer I want to join the art club and so on.

If the school has clubs, the teacher can ask the students: What clubs do we have in our school?

The teacher writes What club do you want to j oin? I wan t to join… on the blackboard. Ask the students to practice it.

Then introduces the key vocabularies and the words can and can’t.

The teacher says to the students who say he/she wants to join the basketball club: Can you play basketball? Help the studen ts say Yes, I can. No, I can’t. Then repeat with other actions or pictures, such as play volleyball.

Show the students the activities the people in each club can do with the same step. Then repeat with dance, swim, play chess, paint, speak English and play the guitar with the help of doing the action. Or we can use the PowerPoint to help us to show the students what we can do. The teacher can ask the students to practice the following dialogues with can.

Do the action and read the new words and phrases.

As k the students to practice can and can’t. Ask the students to practice can you play it well?

At the same time, the teacher write down sing, dance, swim, play chess, paint, speak English, and play the guitar on the blackboard. Ask the students to read after the teacher.

Step 3 A game

To be more familiar with the words and phrases, the teacher can organize a game like this:

Write the words and phrases on pieces of paper. Ask one of the students come to the front and choose one of the paper, then do the action. Ask other students to guess what he or she can do. Then exchange.

Step 4 1a:

Look at the pictures on Page 1. Points to the activities the people in each club are doing. Say something about each club’s activity clearly. For example, This is a chess club. See the chess? They are playing chess.

Step5 .1b

Say each conversation with a student in Part 2. After doing this, play the recording the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording a second time. This time ask the students to listen to the conversations and write a number 1 next to the first conversation they hear, a number 2 next to the second one they hear, and a number 3

next to the third one they hear. Point out the sample answer.

Step 6.1c.

Say the sample conversations. Have students repeat. Then ask students to practice the conversations in pairs. Ask them to use the vocabulary from .

Step7 .Difficulties

1. 动词play的几种用法(1)play表示“玩(球类)”或“玩棋牌及其他游戏”,这时作宾语的名词前不带任何冠词。如:play

basketball/cards/chess/bridge/badminton打篮球/打牌/下棋/打桥牌/打羽毛球。(2)play表示“演奏,弹奏(乐器)”,这时表示乐器的名词前须带定冠词the。如play the piano/violin。(3)play表示“装扮、扮演”。如:play a doctor/ Lu Xun/ the fool 扮一名医生/扮演鲁迅/装傻(4)play with fire玩火,play with water玩水,play with balls玩球,这些短语中的介词with不能丢。△play还有一些其他常见的用法和含义。(5)play sth. for sb. = play sb. sth. 为某人播放…… (6)play + sth. + on + 乐器用某乐器演奏(某乐曲)

2. help sb. do sth. 与help sb. with sth. Can you help kids with swimming? 你能教孩子游泳吗?Help sb. with sth. 此词组的意思为“在某方面帮助某人”,还可以说help sb. do sth.。如果上下文意义较明确时,两个词组可以互换。注:在help sb. with sth. 结构中,with是介词,故动词应变为doing形式,doing相当于名词,作介词宾语。Can you help kids with swimming? =Can you help kids swim?

3. Can的用法can是英语中最常用的几个情态动词之一,它没有人称和数的变化,不能独立作谓语,必须与主要的谓语动词的原形连用。△can本身不表示动作,只表示体力或脑力方面的能力。例如:(1)I/ We/ You/ She/ He/ They can speak Chinese. 我/我们/你/你们/她/他/他们/会说汉语。can无人称和数的变化,表示脑力方面的能力。(2)I/We/You/She/He/They can carry the heavy box. 我/我们/你/你们/她/他/他们搬得动这个重箱子。表示体力方面的能力。注:情态动词本身无人称和数的变化,后面的动词用原形。△情态动词的否定式由情态动词加not构成,如:I/We/You/He/She/It/They can’t swim. can’t=can not 我/我们/你/

你们/他/她/它/他们不会游泳。△情态动词Yes/No问句的构成:将情态动词can 置于句首,后接句子的主语和主要谓语动词即可。如:—Can you/he/she/it/they can swim? 你/他/她/它/他们会游泳吗?—Yes, I/he/she/it/they can. 是的,我/他/她/它/他们会游泳。No, I/he/she/it/they can’t. 不,不会。△can还可以与疑问词一起用在特殊疑问句中。如:Who can swim?谁会游泳?The fish can swim. 鱼会游泳。What can the cat do?It can drink its milk. 猫会干什么?它会喝它的牛奶。(3)△“Can we...?”一般疑问句表示说话人请求对方的许可,询问可不可以做某件事。如:“Can we put our coats here?”“Oh, yes, you can.” “我们可不可以把我们的外套放在这儿?”“噢,当然可以。”

1. join的两种用法I want to join the music club. 我想参加音乐俱乐部。1)结合、连接:Three roads join together here. 三条路在此会合。(2)参加:join用作及物动词,后接表示人的名词或代词作宾语,表示和这些人一起进行某项活动。My classmates all go to the zo o, but I don’t join them. 我的同学都去了动物园,但是我没有和他们一起去。△join还用来表示参加军队、政党、组织等,成为其中的一员。如:join the Party/ League/ WTO/ the army/ the music club 入党/入团/加入世贸组织/参军/加入音乐俱乐部

2.be good at/ with及系表结构的动词短语英语中有大量的由连系动词be与表语构成的系表结构的短语。如:Are you good with children? Tony can dance. He dances well. He is good at dancing. 托尼会跳舞。他跳得很好。

can本身不表示动作,只表示体力或脑力方面的能力。例如:(1)I/ We/ You/ She/ He/ They can speak Chinese. 我/我们/你/你们/她/他/他们/会说汉语。can无人称和数的变化,表示脑力方面的能力。

(2)I/We/You/She/He/They can carry the heavy box. 我/我们/你/你们/她/他/他们搬得动这个重箱子。表示体力方面的能力。注:情态动词本身无人称和数的变化,后面的动词用原形。

Let ss read the three descriptions about Peter, Alan and Ma Huan.

Underline what they can do. Let ss answer the questions .Then check the answers. Let ss read again and find out what they can not understand.

Then the teacher write down also, people, home, be good with, make ,make friends, today, help with sth, center ,weekend, on the weekend, teach.

Ask the students to read after the teacher.

At last ask the ss repeat the text after the teacher.

Step 3.Practice

Let ss talk about themselves in English like the three descriptions.

1.like to do sth = like doing sth. 译为“喜欢做某事。”

2.play games with people ,复习Play 的用法

3.also表肯定的也,放在句中,too也表肯定的也,用在句末,either是表否

定的也,用在句末。

Eg.1. Alan can play the piano .I can also play the piano.

Peter can play the piano too.

2. Tom can’t play t he chess. I can’t play the chess either.

4. I’m in the school music club.译为“我参加了学校音乐俱乐部”

Be in = join译为参加

复习join的用法。

Step5.2b Have a game in groups.

Let ss .read the ads. Match the titles with the ads. Check the answers.

Then ask the ss read the ads and finish 2C, Match each person in 2a with an ad in 2b .Write A,B and C.

Step6. Practice.

Let ss read after the teacher explain the difficulties.

1.need sb. to do sth ./ need help 译为“需要”作实意动词用。以后还会学到作

情态动词用。Eg ( 1.) We need help at the old people’s home. (2.)We need you to help with sports for English-speaking students.

2.be good with sb.对···有办法;善于应付···的

Are you good with old people?

3.make friends ;make friends with sb.译为“与某人交朋友”He wants to make

friends with Tom.

4.call sb./ call sb. at +号码。译为“打某人电话。”

5.be busy doing sth. 忙于做某事。We are busy reading English. Be busy with

sth. We are busy with English.

Step7 Summary and homework.

Try to retell what Peter, Alan and Ma Huan can do after class.

情态动词can的用法

can的意思,一是:能,二是:许可

一、

can的口诀:情态动词can、can、can,动词原形跟后面。

变疑问can提前,变否定not后面加上去。

主语人称单复数,情态动词不能变。

二、

情态动词can可以引导肯定句和疑问句。

1、肯定句:主语+ can + 动词原形+ 其他成分

2、疑问句:can + 主语+ 动词原形+ 其他成分

三、

can 引导的肯定句变为疑问句的方法:(一调二改三问号)

1、can 提前,首字母大写。(一调)

2、肯定句中主语在变成疑问句时的变化。(二改)

如:肯定句:You can feed the animals.你可以喂动物。

疑问句:Can I feed the animals?我能喂动物吗?

3、在句尾后面加问号。(三问号)

回答:

1、肯定回答:Yes,主语(必须人称代词)+ can.

2、否定回答:No,主语(必须人称代词)+ can not (can’t).

注意事项:Yes 或no 后要使用逗号,除了I 以外,其他人称都要小写。
