Is gender equality possible?

According to Wikipedia, gender equality is the view that everyone should receive equal treatment and not be discriminated against based on their gender. And when it comes to this topic, mostly we are talking about that female receives worse treatment. As far as I am concerned, gender equality is not possible.

First of all, male and female have so many differences, which can’t be removed by anyone. Apart from the obvious differences of our bodies, thoughts, emotions and so on vary in male and female. Online are many funny pictures discribing the view. Here is one example.

Different characters result to the different positions and much more differences, which means the way to true equality is difficult to be found.

Secondly, a lot of people aren’t aware of the gender inequality in our life, and are even accustomed to the phenomena that actually are not as normal as we think.

Does man or woman dominate in politics?

Why must woman be quiet and become a good wife?

Why must man be the decision-maker?

Why must woman be young and beautiful?

……

As a matter of fact, gender inequality has permeated into every respect of our life. You may not find it strange, and this is exactly the fatal point.

Thirdly, gender gap is a complex result of history, culture and social background.

Referring to 2015 The Global Gender Gap Report, Iceland tops the list, while Egypt is on the bottom. But the reason why the countries haven’t achieved gender equality is various. So we definitely can’t solve the problem in one pattern.

Last but not the least, the ideas in our mind are influenced by our parents’, unavoidably including pedantic and old-fashioned matters. Generations after generations inherit the popular thoughts and the gender gap has been too great to be declined.

To summarize, a world with absolute gender equality is impossible, but we could reduce such phenomena by our efforts.
