Developing economy vs. protecting environment

As a developing country, china has become the second largest economy in the world. China has achieved tremendous economic growth. With the development of our economy more and more environmental problem have arisen. Such as pollution problems, loss of farmland etc. some people think the urgent thing is to develop economy on large scales; but on the other hand, some people believe protecting environment is top priority; Some people think both developing economy and protecting environment are equally important. I believe that protecting the environment is more important than economic development.

We live on the earth which is a comprehensive ecological environment of the land, sea, air, plants, animals and people. It is an unbroken totality, all intricately linked to one another. Our ultimate aim in economic development is to provide a comfortable and happy life for us. But we have already wasted and destroyed vast amounts of natural resources, climate changes will turn fertile fields into desert, polluted water can lead

to crop failures, people’s physical health is affected by a great many pollutants in his air. Economy development should never be at the cost of the environment. If we only focus on economic growth, no paying attention to our environment, nature would penalty us.

While developing economy may have caused environment issues, one should not lose sight of the advantage it brings about. People live in bigger flats or house. Most of people have their own cars. Nutrition has improved greatly for both urban and rural residents. A sustainable development is what we pursue.

It is our mission to protect our environment, where is our living home.
