Should people be rewarded according to ability or age?

With an increasing number of graduated students from colleges, they are facing more pressure on job hunting thus they can’t get satisfied salary compared to some relatively old workers who actually do less than young workers. However, most companies and industries prefer to reward people according to one’s work length and experience rather than the ability and contributions to the boss.

There seem to be a lot of factors that contribute to such a phenomenon. First of all, in some position like safety engineer, age is almost equal to experience that can help workers findpotential danger and correct it instantly. Young workers may be a lot of practical work but they should accumulate much more experience step by step and show respect to old workers. What’s more, some old workers help boss founded the company at the beginning, so leaders gratitude these workers in another way although they have lagged behind the time. Finally, young workers have the ability of learning something new quickly than old ones, but no one can deny old workers’contribution to help young workers to grow. They deserve the reward.

As far as I am concerned, our society should integrate the methods of judging people from ability and experience so as to balance the distribution of money. Employers should recognize ability and age justly. This would remove one of the biggest causes of friction between old and young and ultimately it would lead to a better society including the improvement of the whole company.
