According to several leading educational psychologists, this is one of the biggest mistakes which some parents make. However, if parents are not unrealistic about what they expect their children to do, but are hopeful in a sensible way, the child may succeed in doing very well –especially if the parents are very supportive to their children.

Michael Li is very lucky. He is very fond of music and his parents help him a lot by taking him to concerts and arranging private piano and violin lessons for him. A research team from Finland, the United States, China and Scotland is hopeful about the future of forests. Six experts in forestry science and economics say forest growth is on the increase in some countries and the number is rising. Professor Kauppi says the findings suggest the world may be able to reach a turning point away from deforestation (毁林). Many experts have considered that impossible. But the researchers say it may be possible to expand the world‘s forests by ten percent, or an area about the size of India, by 2050.

They used information released last year by the Food and Agriculture Organization. The new study looked just at the fifty nations with the most forests. The researchers used a new way to measure forest resources. They considered more than just the amount of land covered by trees. They also considered forest density, tree sizes, biomass (生物量) and the amount of atmospheric carbon captured in forests. The biomass represents all plants and tree growth.

The researchers say growing stock increased in twenty-two of the fifty countries. IAnd, in about half of the fifty countries, biomass and carbon storage also increased. The researchers say forest areas and biomass are still being lost in such important countries as Brazil and Indonesia. But they found gains in others, including the world‘s most populous nations. They say China and the United States have had the greatest gains. And they say India has reached the right balance between forested and non-forested land.

In percentage terms , though, the study says that forest areas have expanded fastest in the last fifteen years in Vietnam, Spain and China. And they have shrunk fastest in Nigeria and the

Philippines. Professor Kauppi says the main obstacle to forest growth is fast-growing poor populations that burn wood for cooking fuel, or sell it for quick money or clear forest for crops. But a number of scientists criticized the use of information that came from governments. They said some governm ents didn‘t keep good records about their forests, or may not tell the truth.

The old camera Brownie picked up in a charity shop was a splendid find. But the undeveloped film still inside turned out to be even more of a treasure.

New owner Don Roccoforte had it developed and saw in it an attractive dark haired woman in her thirties with two young boys. He immediately determined to try to find out who they were.

A few weeks later the California-based camera collector received the news that left him stunned . The woman was his wife-Mrs Roccoforte‘s aunt in a picture taken around 50 years ago, and one of the boys, her cousin.

The couple have now unraveled（揭开）the astonishing coincidence, which leads back to Mrs. Roccoforte‘s birthplace- Lancashire, where many of her family still live. The camera was bought from a shop in Preston by Brownie, a friend of Mr. Roccoforte, who knew of his interest in photography and thought it would be an unusual gift.

Back in California, the contents of his new possession inspired Mr. Roccoforte‘s curiosity. Recognizing the water in the background of the photo as a lake in Lancashire, he sent a copy to the local paper in Preston to see if any readers could help.

Another relative recognized the group as Winnie Bamber, still living in the area at the age of 81, her son Tony, Mrs. Roccoforte‘s cousin, and Tony‘s childhood friend, Mick Murphy.

About 97% of the world‘s water is salty and is found in our oceans and seas. But, as we can‘t drink seawater, how can it be important?

Every part of our seas and oceans contains an amazing number of animals and fish that live at different ocean depths. Most of the different species of animals and fish depend on simple plants for their food. These simple plants called algae (海藻) drift near the surface of the ocean and use sunlight to turn carbon dioxide and water into food and oxygen. In fact, algae produce over half of the oxygen people breathe. How important seawater is!

Each plant or animal in our seas and oceans is an important link in a food chain. The algae are eaten in large amounts by microscopic animals, which are in turn consumed by larger animals. These food chains are delicately balanced.

The bad news about the food chains in the oceans is that they are under threat because of man. People once thought that the oceans were so big that it didn‘t matter if we dumped rubbish into them or caught huge quantities of fish and whales for food. But we now know this is not true and fish stocks in the oceans have started to drop.

Thankfully, the world is taking steps to protect the future of our oceans by introducing
