TPO15 writing based on reading and listening.

The reading passage and the listening material have conflicting opinions about whether certain ways can prevent the population of cane toads in Australia become too large. The lecturer argues that the suggestions in the reading passage are not convincing, and provides three evidences to rebut them.

First of all, while the author in the reading claims that a national fence can stop the cane toads from spreading to uninfected places, the lecturer casts doubts on this point, instead. According to the lecture, those young toads or their eggs can easily be spreaded by the rivers or streams since the fence cannot stop the flowing of water. As only small number of these toads can cause problems, this way turns out not to be effective.

Secondly, the author states that the toads or their eggs may be captured and destroyed by the volunteers. However, the lecturer rebuts the authors opinion by providing strong evidence to attack it. Despite the fact that toad can be easily destroyed, these volunteers are untrained. They are not able to tell the difference between cane toads and other toads(even some endangered and precious toads). Using volunteers to trap and destroy the cane toads will affect native environment's stability.

Last of all, the reading passage claims that we use a specially invented virus to destroy the population of cane toads. By contrast, the lecturer holds that the author's opinion does not hold water because this may cause negative effect to the cane toads in their original habitat, Central South America. Since scientist or other people sometimes need to do research or go from Australia to South America, the toads infected by virus may be carried there and devastate the native population. This act can affect the eco-system in a negative way.

Writing based on living experience.

As the society is developing, there is an accumulation in the wealth of a family. Parents tend to give money to their children in order to let them know how to manage their money. Some people may think that this is not appropriate because children may waste money. However, as far as I am concerned, offering children money may be a better choise for both the development of a children and the melodious life of a family.

Initially, by learning how to disperse their money, children will grasp the idea of life management. During this process, children have to organize the way to spend money. Because of the limited sum of money their get, they cannot waste money in ways unnecessary. Several years ago, scientists did a research on children of a range ten to fifteen about whether or not getting money during childhood can let them be more responsible. The results showed that most of those children getting money during childhood could manage their life and money successfully after becoming adults. They also showed the ability to make tight schedule and experience regular lives. In contrast, those whose living necessities were purchased by parents showed disorganized mind in using money and even organizing lives. Because children will all grow up eventually, it is good for them to learn to organize their life.

Not only does this act help children learn to adapt to future lives, but this promotes family members to be happier everyday as well. On the one hand, not letting children spend money can prevent children from wasting money, one the other hand, this can be rather inconvenient. Take my brother Jim's family as an example. His parents do not give money for him to use, they think he may spend money in many wrong ways. As s result, Jim has to ask parents for permission of using even a little penny(eg. buying some pens or pencils, taking a taxi, etc.). Also, if parents do not buy things Jim wants, he can be really unsatisfied. This caused his family members really anxious and often give rise to his family conflict.

In a nutshell, it is normal for people having worries about children dispersing money. But we have to offer children a space of living; a space of management; and also a space for development. The best way to accomplish this goal is to offer them money, and help them to be financially responsible.
