[1]Sweden's program of producing energy from rubbish is so successful, but recently its success has also produced a surprising problem: There is simply not enough rubbish in this country. It has been reported that only 4% of their rubbish goes into landfills (垃圾填埋场). The rest 96% is recycled or more recently being re-used as fuel(燃料) in their waste-to-energy factories that are able to deal with up to 2 million tons of rubbish every year. And this situation has made Sweden face the serious and special problem mentioned above.

Sometimes people come into your life and you know that they are there to teach you a lesson, or to help you understand who you are or who you want to become.

You never know these people who may be a classmate, a neighbour or a friend—but when you lock your eyes on them, you know at that very moment they will influence your life in some ways.

Sometimes things that happen to you may seem unpleasant, painful, or frustrating at first. But in another way, you find that without getting over those difficulties you would have never realized your ability, strength or will power(意志力).

The people you meet and the success you get help to create who you are and who you become. Even the bad experience can be learned from. In fact, they are sometimes the most important ones.

If someone loves you, give love back to them in the way you can, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.

If someone hurts you, or breaks your heart, forgive(原谅) them, for they have helped you learn about truth and the importance of being careful of people around.

About one hundred years ago, many educated people spoke French when they met people from other countries. Today most people speak English when they meet foreigners. It has become the new international language. There are more people who speak English as a second language than people who speak English as a first language. Why?

There are many reasons why English has become so popular. One of them is that English has become the language of business. Another important reason is that popular American culture, like movies, music, and McDonald?s has quickly spread throughout the world. It has brought its language with it.

Is it good that English has spread to all parts of the world so quickly? I don't know. It?s important to have a language that everyone has in common. Our world has become global and we need to communicate with one another. On the other hand, English is a rather hard language to learn and it brings its culture with it. Do we really need that?

Scientists have already tried to make an artificial(人造的) language that isn't too difficult and isn?t from any one group?s culture. It is called Esperanto. But it hasn't become popular. Maybe the popularity of English won?t last that long, either. Who knows? There are more people in the world who speak Chinese than any other language. It offers chances to check the night sky and to be noisier than usual. It lets us have friends over to stay who might not fit inside the house! Follow these instructions and you?ll have a night you?ll never forget!

Put up your tent.

Depending on the number of family members and guests, you may need more than one tent. Tell your friends to bring their tents if needed. Follow the instructions or check out the articles on how to put up a tent on the Internet.

Prepare your bedding.

You?ll want your guests to be able to relax in comfort. Put something soft to lie on on the floor: A blow-up air mattress or thick comforters may work well. Fill the tent with soft toys and blankets (毯子). Have lightweight sleeping bags or cotton blankets. They are especially important if you live where the night temperatures drop greatly.

Prepare a seating area.

If you have a picnic table, that would work best. If not, set up a

few chairs and a small table to set out drinks and food. A simple

choice is to lay out a blanket in the sun, so that your friends can eat

and talk. Be sure the grass isn?t wet!

Make memories.

Plan some activities. You?re camping in the backyard, so it?s time

In its first study of children?s safety in the US, the National Safe Kids Campaign (NSKC) founds that nearly half of the injury-related(与受伤相关的)deaths among children happened in summer.

Ask any group of teenagers in the UK what they most like to eat, and foods like pizzas, pasta, burgers and chips are always mentioned. Many young people would probably also list the local fast-food restaurant as their favorite place.

But what teenagers like to eat is not necessarily what they should eat. For a growing body, eating foods with plenty of calcium(钙),such as milk, yoghurt and cheese, is important because calcium is essential for the development of healthy, strong bones(骨头).Similarly, foods that are rich in iron(铁) are good for developing bodies, so it's good for them to eat red meat, bread and

green vegetables.

Lifestyle habits can be developed during our teenage years, so it is greatly important that young people are educated about what foods are good. In 2005,in order to change eating habits and open teenagers' minds to new tastes, a cook named Jamie Oliver started a “Feed Me Better” project. He worked with teachers and cooks in a number of schools across the UK to provide more healthy school meals. Although some teenagers and parents refused to have a try at first, the project was generally a huge success. The newspapers wrote articles about him and a TV program showed his visits to the schools.

No on expects to end the teenage love with fast and junk food, but, hopefully, if projects like “Feed Me Better” continue to give out the right messages, more young people will understand the importance of eating healthily.

64.What problem do teenagers in the UK have?

65.Why are milk and bread healthy foods?

66.Why is it important to educate people during their teenage years?

中考英语阅读理解试题分类汇编经典 一、初三英语阅读理解(含答案详细解析) 1.根据短文内容出选择正确答案。 B Do you want to live a happier, less stressful life? Try laughing for no reason at all. That's how thousands of people start their day at Laughter (笑声)Clubs around the world and many doctors now think that having a good laugh might be one of the best ways to stay healthy. The first Laughter Club was started in Mumbai, India, in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria. "Young children laugh about 300 times a day. Adults laugh between 7 and 15 times a day," says Dr. Kataria. "Everyone is naturally good at laughing-it's the universal language. We want people to feel happy with their lives." There are now more than 500 Laughter Clubs in India and over l,300 in the world. Many doctors are also interested in the effects (效果) of laughter on our health. According to a 5-year study at the UCLA School of Medicine in California, with laughing there is less stress in the body. Laughter improves our health against illness by about 40%. So what happens at a Laughter Club? I went along to my nearest club in South London to find out. I was quite nervous at the beginning of the class, to be honest, I wasn't interested in laughing with a group of strangers, and I was worried about looking stupid. Our laughter teacher told us to clap our hands and say “ho ho ho, ha ha ha.” while looking at each other. However, our bodies can't tell the difference between real laughter and unreal laughter, so they still produce the same healthy effects. Surprisingly, it worked! After ten minutes everybody in the room was laughing for real and some people just couldn't stop! At the end of the class I was surprised by how relaxed-and comfortable I felt. So if you're under stress, then start laughing. You might be very pleased with the results! (1)The first Laughter Club was started in __________. A. India B. America C. Britain D. 中考英语英语阅读理解试题(及答案)

中考英语英语阅读理解试题(及答案) 一、英语阅读理解专项练习试卷 1.阅读短文,从下面每小题的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳答案。 A man sees a butterfly. The butterfly tries to get out of its chrysalis (蛹). Feeling sorry for it, the man decides to help. He cuts the chrysalis and the butterfly comes out easily. Surprisingly enough, the butterfly is unable to fly. If the butterfly doesn't struggle (奋斗) to leave the chrysalis, it can't fly! The struggle develops the energy in the butterfly which makes it fly. Similarly, the challenges of life bring out the best in young people and make them fly. When people are young, meeting and overcoming challenges will make them strong and ready to face life. When we 1oюk at successful people, we see that the most successful of them are people who have had to struggle. One famous businessman, who now owns many big supermarkets, used to carry clothes on his back and sell them from door to door when he was young. Another successful man is Dennis. His father died when he was only twenty. His father's death forced him to mature fast. He had to bring up a family of nine people. He took up the challenges and overcame them. Today his brothers and sisters are leading successful lives. Sometimes challenges do not appear to us because we keep away from them. So some parents and teachers actively encourage young people to face challenges. They might organize some activities for young people which provide them with challenges, like rock-climbing, camping, volunteer work and so on. However, just passing exams will not prepare a person for life. We must meet and overcome challenges. The young people of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. For countries to continue to become successful, it is important that the young people learn to meet challenges and overcome them. (1)From the story we know that the butterfly can't fly because ________. A. it gets out by itself B. the man feels sorry for it C. it doesn't want to challenge itself D. the man helps it come out (2)Dennis' example shows that success people should ________. A. overcome the difficulties B. take up business early C. become the leaders of tomorrow D. sell clothes from door to door (3)Which statement is TRUE? A. Young people should face challenges because they are strong. B. Losing his father made Dennis mature in a slow way. C. Rock-climbing and camping can shape the strong will. D. The most successful people don't need to struggle. (4)What is the best title for this passage? A. God Helps Those Who Help Themselves B. Young People Must Deal With Difficulties Alone
