Abstract
This research is to compare the estimating-size ability between males and females. And my hypothesis is that the males’ estimating-size ability is stronger than females’. I chose 20 people, 10 males and 10 females, to do this research. I put the data in tables and through the data and the report which is written by scientist to conclusion. My hypothesis is right; males do better than females on estimating size.
Introduction
In daily life, we often estimate things if we cannot measure them. This survey wants to show the ability about estimating size between males and females. I guessed that males can do better than females because the males are good at math.
Research Methodology
I chose 20 people in the research. 10 males and 10 females are about 16 years old. I asked them to estimate 3 things with the distance which is 1 meter between people and 3 things. They are pen, book and eraser. The real sizes of them are 14.2cm, 5cm and 14cm People have 10 seconds to guess the length of these 3 things. And I recorded the number they guessed

After the text, I put the data in these 2 tables. Though compare 2 tables, we can know that the females do better than males. The average of females is more near the real size of the 3 things. We know that the number of Standard Deviation is much lower, much truer. We can see that the Standard Deviation of eraser is the lowest one. So we can believe that answers.
Discussion
From the tables, we can see that the females’ estimating ability is much better than the males, but the difference between males and females is very small. I controlled the distance between the people and these three things, and I also asked them to give me the answer in 15 seconds. So I made the error of the data the smallest. Then through contrast these data, I got the result that the females can estimate more exactly than male when people see the things far away from them. From my research result, I knew that my hypothesis is wrong.
I asked 20 students, 10 males and 10 females, to do this research. They are then similar age. They stood 1 meter far away from these 3 things. I did this to make sure that the error is as little as I can. Also, this experiment of my science report still has some aspects to improve. For example, I did not do many times to estimate size at the same situations. I also should change the distance between the people and three things. Those things can make less error than before I did.
But I forgot put them away each other. The next person might listen to the last person’s answer. And then the answer is not by estimating. And we can see the number of STDEV.S is a little big. That means that the answer is not very true.
After I found other scientists’ report, I found that my research is not enough to get the right answer. My research shows us that females can estimate better than males. In fact, this investigation cannot explain the real things. Maybe I should do more 3 or 4 times to get the real answers. This can avoid error best. The real answer is that males are better on estimating size than females. So I think my hypothesis is not wrong.
My aim to do this is to show the different abilities between males and females. The result can help the company to choose employees which is suit for the job, when the job is need them to estimate size, just like the cashier or tailors.
Conclusions and Recommendations
In conclusion, the males can estimate size better than females. This ability is inherent. So when the company needs people to estimate something, the male is better choice. Although females are not as good as males, they can practice this ability and make it better. My middle school English teacher is a kind woman. When she gives us the paper for text, she can give us the right numbers of paper, no more, no less. With her hands, she can know how many papers there are. So that can supports that the ability for estimating size can do better after practicing a lot
