一、商务说明书的语篇结构

根据商品在性能、用途等方面的不同，英文商品说明书的结构形式也会有所不同。通常商品说明书由标题（包括副标题）和正文两个部分组成。

1.商务说明书的标题（Headline）

商品说明书的标题可以大致分为直接性标题（Direct Headline）和间接性标题（Indirect Headline）两个类别。前者直接表明是对何种产品的说明或者是何种产品的使用手册。例如：

而间接性标题并不直接说明是何种产品的说明书。例如：

该例采用了间接性标题，其标题没有述及具体的商品名称。

部分商品说明书除了正标题之外，还另外附有副标题（Sub-headline）。副标题通常是正标题之具体内容，为客户提供更详细或明确的信息，以引起客户的兴趣和注意力。例如：

（2）商品说明书的正文（Body）。

商品说明书的正文是其核心部分，其不可缺少的成分包括：产品的适用范围、使用方法及注意事项等，对于机械、电器类产品来说，一般还包括安装和维修方法。英文商品说明书通常采取两种模式：其一为开门见山式（Come-to-Point Style），即直接陈列所要说明的事项或方面；另一种为引言式（Introductory Style），或称概述式，即先对商品作一般性的介绍，然后列出所需说明的具体方面。看下面的例子：

2. Soaking. Fill contact case one-half full of Comfortact. Place lenses in case and add a few more drops to cover all surface.

3. Cleaning. Apply a few drops of Comfortact to lenses and rub gently for ten seconds. Rinse and repeat.

Notice：Wash hand thoroughly before touching lenses. Do not let the tip of the bottle come into contact with any surface which may contaminate the solution. Do not use with sift contact lenses.

二、商品说明书的语言特征

1. 商品说明书的词汇特征

(1)一般用小词比如一般要用use而不用utilize, 用stop 而不用discontinue, 用get而不用acquire

(2)频繁使用缩略语大量缩略语的出现, 使得消费者能很快记住产品的名称。并且它简洁的形式可以节约在文本中所占空间, 也可以避免拼写上因为冗长而出现的错误等不必要的麻烦。DV: Digital Video(数字视频) , PC: Personal Computer ( 个人电脑), CD: Compact Disk(激光唱盘) , DVD: Dig ital Video Disc( 数字视频光盘) , OD: Optical Driver (光驱), HD: Hard Disk ( 硬盘), LCD: Liquid Crystal Display (液晶显示器)

2. 商品说明书的句法特征

(1)省略句的使用为了使句子简洁, 说明书文本中多使用省略句。省略句的使用, 是在一定的语境下进行的。只有读者根据上下文语境理解了文本的意思, 才可用省略句。通常, 会省略主语、谓语和宾语。例如: 省略主语和谓语的情况: Fully compatible with IBM PC. PCXT, PCAT, PS \ 2 systems. 句中省略了主语it和谓语is。省略宾语的情况:

通常在口语体中, 祈使句的使用会给人以严肃甚至不礼貌的感觉。然而, 在说明书这种书面文体中, 它的使用会让读者对产品有种信任感。因为祈使句用在说明书中, 用一种清晰而带有权威性的语气来书写, 会让消费者对他所进行的每一步操作都相当有信心, 认为这些都是在经过专业技术测定和认可之内的、是安全可靠的, 可以放心使用。比如: Keep this User Manual for future reference; Keep this equipment away from humidity; Lay this equipment on a reliable flat surface before setting it up.

(3)商品说明书的常用句型结构

1）（情态助动词）be + 形容词（或过去分词）+ 状语

该句式常见于说明书的开头以说明该产品的性质或用途。例如：Poly Clean is specially formulated to clean all dirt and stain from glass，windows and other hard surfaces quickly and easily.

保洁丽配方独特，能迅速清除玻璃、窗户及其他硬物表面的污垢和尘迹，方便快捷。

再如：This machine is equipped with a gear transmission mechanism，and its multi-dies are arranged in line. 本机采用齿轮变速传动结构，串联组成多模连续拉丝机。

2）（情态助动词）be + 介词短语

该句式常用于说明相关商品的特征、状态和范围以及计量单位等。例如：The Type CYJ15-18-18 oil pumping machine is of simple and compact construction. CYJ15-18-18 型抽油机的结构紧凑。

3）be + 形容词+ 介词短语。

该句式也常用来描述相关商品的特性和状态。例如：It is effective in reducing neurological pain and spasm caused by lack of calcium.

三、商品说明书翻译中应注意的问题

1．在商品说明书的翻译中应该注意商品说明书的语用功能,使使原文与译文读者能有相同的感受。例如: 原文:A VON ROLL ON ANTI- PERSPIRANT DEODORANT All- day deodorant and wetness protection. Keep under- arm s dry and odor- free. Glides on smoothly. Dries quickly. Non- stinging. Non- sticky. Wont' stain clothing. 译文: 雅芳止汗香体露(山茶花香) 配方特别温和, 适合各类肤质, 独特的清香, 令身体24小时保持干爽清新。从译文可以看出, 译者并没有按原文对译。原文中的! deodorant( 异味) 、ticky( 粘连)、stain(污染)直译成汉语都是不雅的词语, 欲买此类产品的消费者当看到这样的说明书时, 肯定会觉得自己的缺点被暴露无遗,顿觉尴尬, 不愿再继续购买。

2．理解原文本深层结构，使译本风格与原文本风格一致。看下例：
