Analysis of the teaching material

This part is aim to improve students’ reading and writing ability. In this part, students will learn to understand a passage. They will also learn the meanings of “happy” .After learning this part, students should know how to tell a story and how to face power, wealth and happiness.

Analysis of students

Students like stories. Maybe some students have read this story. So students will be interested in learning this part. But it may be a little difficult for them to learn how to analyze the passage and understand the meaning of “happiness”.

Teaching procedure:

Step I. Lead-in

1. Greet students as usual.

2. Review the words about feelings by watching a video.

Step II. Presentation

1. Lead in the story by introduce the background of the story.

2. Review the new words. Teach and repeat.

3.Learn the beginning of the story. Lead in the new words and try to let students to guess the meanings of the new words.

4. Learn the development of the story.

a, Fast reading. Read the story quickly and answer the questions.

1). Who was called to the palace?

2). Were they happy?

Check the answers.

b. Careful reading.

Read the passage carefully and fill in the chart.

Step III. Practice

1. Game time

Ask students to role-play the story and then ask some groups to act it out.

2.Do a review.

Ask a student to be a interviewer to interview other students about their understanding about happiness.

3. Thinking.

All the students think what is happiness.

Step IV Consolidation

Writing

What happened to the king at last? Could he become happy ? Could the top general find a happy person for him? Now you are the writer of the story. Please give your ending of the story.

Summarize the meaning of happiness. Your attitudes are very important. Let’s smile to the life.

Step V. Summary

现场表演这个故事,学生热情很高,但由于准备时间仓促,还存在一些问题。我在导入上

也花费了过多的时间,导致整节课时间分配不是很好,最后的讨论环节应该可以再深入些。
