在企业简介英译中普遍采用的手段有: (1) 以“with”引导的介词短语; (2) 分词; (3) 从句。
(1) 以“with”引导的介词短语:

(一) 拘泥于原文引起的翻译不当
1. 逐字翻译引起的“翻译腔”
例1 轻纺工业产品的花色品种增多。
原译:The designs and variety of light industrial and textile products have increased.
拟改译:Light industry and textile products are now available in better designs and richer variety.
原译的词类完全按照中文,主语冗长,有头重脚轻之嫌,是典型的Chinglish。而改译先以一主谓结构统领,再补充其他成分,并且对“轻纺工业产品”在词性上做了变动,使译文更符合
英语语言的习惯
2. 逐字翻译引起的表达繁冗、拖沓
例2 为了实现信息化数据化, ?

1. 误译(mistranslation)
误译的现象很普遍,原因主要归结于译者的疏忽大意,英文功底及文化认识的欠缺。在公司简介中,引起误译的原因则主要是译者英文功底不扎实,并且为图方便以主观臆测代替客观求证。
例3 我公司专门生产腰包。
原译:Our pany is specialized in producing body bags.
拟改译:Our pany is specialized in producing wallets/ purses.
Body bag 在英语中意为“遗体袋”,而不是我们所认为的与身体(body) 有关的包。类似的误译在许多公司简介中很常见,从而使翻译达不到正确传递信息的目的。
2. 欠额翻译(undertranslation)
欠额翻译也叫“过载翻译”(overloaded translation) ,它是“译者无视译文的理解性与可读性,或过高地估计了译语读者的知识,以致于译文读者在译语中得不到理解原文所必需的信。
例如对“拳头产品”一词的译法, 欠额翻译fist product 给读者的理解度不够,而
( highly) petitive product 虽然未能做到原汁原味,但至少在表意上达到了传达信息的目的,显得更为可取。当然, knockout product 形神俱备,最为妥帖。
(三) 文化差异导致的拙译
1. 缺乏准确的文化认识而导致的拙译
例4 投资热点
原译:investment hot spot
拟改译:a region attractive to investors
原译对“热点”逐字翻译,其实际意义为“(可能) 发生动乱的地方”(至少以这一意思为主) 。另一种译法investment heat spot 也不妥当,因为heat spot 是医学上的“热觉点”。改译采用了解释性翻译,表意清楚,同时又体现了热点的“热”字真正的含义在于具有attractive 的特性,并且避免了字面翻译引起的错误。
例5 本公司对所有产品实行三包。
原译:Our pany provides three packages for all the products.
拟改译:Our pany provides three guarantees for all the products in terms of repair , replacement and refund.
一般中国人都知道“三包”指的是产品售后服务的保证,所以这个“包”其实是“保”。针对不了解行情的外国企业,翻译的关键不仅在于准确传递这个“包”字的含义,更在于说明“三包”的具体内容
2. 文化的不可译性(cultural untranslatability)
每种文化都有它的独特性,这就导致在翻译中会出现文化的不可译性。中国的白象牌电池功效相当不错,但其英译white elephant (意为大而无用的东西) 使之在美国市场上的销售情况不景气。译者在翻译的过程中必须考虑这种文化的独特性。
(四) 语法错误
语法错误不是翻译中独有的问题,却不可小视。公司简介的翻译中出现语法错误不利于
中国企业进入国际市场。
