Describe an adventurous person you know.

You should say:

who the person is

how you know this person

what this person does that is adventurous

Explain how you feel about the risks this person takes.

I’d like to describe my cousin Nancy to you, who, in my opinion, is very adventurous.

During the time she was studying at university, she was always active in sports and often organized excursions with fellow students to go mountain biking, rocking climbing, swimming in rivers and so on. She even backpacked in Tibet for two weeks with only 400 RMB in her pocket.

After she graduated with a degree in medicine, she decided that instead of joining a large hospital, which would have guaranteed her a high salary, she joined a volunteer group to Yunnan to help treat sick villagers. She often has to travel to remote mountain villages and is always in danger of having an accident, being caught in terrible weather, or catching the illness herself.

I feel very proud of my cousin for taking these risks

because it shows that she is selfless and cares more about those around her. Many people are concerned about those who need help.

Describe a child you know.

You should say

how you know him or her

what he or she likes to do

what kind of person he/she is

And explain how you feel about this child.

Personally, I love children. I think they are pure and na?ve. They are more imaginative and creative than adults. My niece Rose is such a girl.

She is 5 years old. She has a round face, with a small red mouth and a straight nose. Her sparkling eyes are the first things you’ll notice about her, which make her look smart and cute.

Rose is fond of drawing. When she was only two years old, she began drawing on paper, on walls, or on desks. although she couldn’t hold the pencil very well, she drew very carefully. It was not easy for us to tell what she was drawing. She told us, “this is a duck, this is a horse", or “this is I who am sleeping”

With her explanation, we found that the pictures looked like what

she suggested. She always draws pictures out of imagination, not copying books. I think she is a creative girls. Once she pointed at a piece of cloud in the sky and said, it looks like mom and me. We walk together and hold hands.

Last month, Rose sent me a picture drawn by herself as my birthday present. I was touched. It was a lovely monkey. There was a line of words below,“ a lovely monk, to my aunt,” Aha, she misspelled the word “monkey "as “monk”!

Describe a party that you enjoyed.

You should say:

what it was celebrating

where the party was held and who went to it

what people did during the party

and explain what you enjoyed about this party.

The party I enjoyed most was the one held by my university professor Jeff. He was one of those typical Westerners who were just crazy about parties.The party, which took place in his backyard during one of summer holidays of my college years, was essentially about barbecuing.

There were at least 20 people attending the party,

including many of my classmates and Jeff’s family and friends. It was obvious that everyone was enjoying the party very much: some were toasting beef, lamb and chicken in the oven, some were lying on a deckchair to get tanned in the strong sunlight, some were playing card games and having arguments occasionally, and some were just talking happily about their future plans under the shade of a large oak tree.

Describe a special meal that you have eaten.

You should say:

Where you had this meal

What food you had

Why it was special

Whether this type of meal is common in your country.

I’m going to talk about a meal I enjoyed. It was right after my university graduation, when I was about 21. My whole family gather together and came to see me. After the ceremony we all went to a nearby restaurant, which was busy with other families who were all doing the same thing. The atmosphere was exciting and busy. The restaurant was beautiful, with long tables, candles and flowers. My family also gave me a huge bunch of flowers and some cards and special gifts.

I remember that we ordered a lot of seafood and ch ampagne to celebrate. I can’t really remember what else we ate, but the seafood was delicious. Oh, that’s right, we had lobster to share, which was amazing. We spent all afternoon at the restaurant, talking, eating and laughing. And of course, we took lots of photos. My father made a speech of congratulations and wished me successful in the future.

Describe a practical skill that you have.

You should say:

what this skill is

how you learned it

when you use this skill

and explain how this skill is useful to you.

Well one skill that I have is playing the guitar.

I learned it when I was young, at first it was a little difficult because to be quite frank, I really didn’t see myself as someone who was musically inclined. Even now I have a long way to go with playing but I have found it enjoyable not just for myself, for others have said they enjoy it as well. I have had a few guitars and although there are different styles and qualities, to me it seems that as long as they have strings on them and you can tune them fine.

I use the guitar to cheer myself up when I am feeling a little down and also use it to teach songs to others. I don’t know if I would want to pursue this skill as a career but as long as I still enjoy it, I am going to do it.

Describe a wedding ceremony you joined.

You should say:

Whose wedding it is;

What happened at the wedding;

And explain why it is impressive on you.

The traditional event which impresses me most is

Chinese traditional wedding.

The red letter da te will be picked by the groom’s parents. Both the bride’s and the groom’s house will be decorated in red in advance. On the wedding day, the groom’s family will send out some servants, entertainers and a carriage which is carried by four servants to the b ride’s family to bring the bride back. The bride and the groom will worship the heaven and the earth, the groom’s ancestors. And they will also serve tea to all their superiors in the family.

After the meal, the new couple will return to the bridal room and some naughty friends may tag along and play tricks on the groom. Then, the couple will finally be left with themselves and the groom can take off the red cloth that covers the bride’s face. You know in the ancient time, a man might probably marry a woman that he had never met before.

That’s why I find the traditional wedding so interesting. Now more and more young people choose to have a traditional wedding, which means there is a growing trend towards the traditional culture. That’s quite delightful.

Describe a trip you made

You should say:

When did you travel;

Where did you travel;

What did you see;

And why do you like travel.

One hot summer Sunday five roommates and I went on a holiday excursion to the north mountain.

At nine o’clo ck we came to its base. Oh, how beautiful the scenery was! We followed other sightseers and began to climb the mountain. Along the rugged (崎岖的)path rose jagged(不整齐的)stones and rocks. Trees with dense foliage sheltered an ancient temple. Clean, clear water flowed from a nearby spring. Several old trees towered grandly toward the blue sky. The melodious songs of birds continually pleased our ears.

We felt very happy to bathe in the natural beauty. At noon we picnicked on a spot of grass, and then continued to climb until we reached the top. Below us we could see the open fields stretching far to the horizon with small houses and trees scattered here and there.

Where was our city? It seemed to be hidden in the mist

---now appearing , now disappearing.

In the late twilight we made our way down and bid farewell to the North Mountain, and returned to our college.

雅思口语素材汇总之端午节 雅思口语素材:Dragon Boat Festival(端午节) Qu Yuan The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous rice(糯米)wrapped to form a pyramid using bamboo or reed leaves) and racing dragon boats. The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races, especially in the southern provinces where there are many rivers and lakes. This regatta(赛舟会)commemorates the death of Qu Yuan , an honest minister who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river. Qu was a minister of the State of Chu situated in present-day Hunan and Hubei provinces, during the Warring States Period (475-221BC)(战国时期). He was upright, loyal and highly esteemed for his wise counsel that brought peace and prosperity to the state. However, when a dishonest and corrupt prince vilified Qu, he was disgraced and dismissed from office. Realizing that the country was now in the hands of evil and corrupt officials, Qu grabbed a large stone and leapt into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth month. Nearby fishermen rushed over to try and save him but were unable to even recover his body. Thereafter, the state declined and was eventually conquered by the State of Qin. The people of Chu who mourned the death of Qu threw rice into the river to feed his ghost every year on the fifth day of the fifth month. But one year, the spirit of Qu appeared and told the mourners that a huge reptile(爬行动物)in the river had stolen the rice. The spirit then advised them to wrap the rice in silk and bind it with five different-colored threads before tossing it into the river. During the Duanwu Festival, a glutinous rice pudding called zong zi is eaten to symbolize the rice offerings to Qu. Ingredients such as beans, lotus seeds(莲子), chestnuts(栗子), pork fat and the golden yolk of a salted duck egg are often

Part 1真题:Have you travelled recently? 1 :Yes, I have. (Direct answer)Last month(when)I went to Hong Kong(where)with my parents (who). We had a great time at the Disney Land and went shopping,too.(what) 思路演示2: No,I haven’t(Direct answer). I’m been b usy with my studies(why).But after the exam(when), my parents and I(who)are going to Hong Kong and we would like to go to Disney Land and go shopping, too. (what) Part 2真题:Describe a library that you have used. You should say: where it was what type of library it was what you used the library for what you liked and /or disliked about this library and explain how useful it was for your studies or research. 思路演示:“where it was”: on campus(Direct answer) (Where): It was next to our teaching building of English Department (When) : It was built 50 years ago when our school was established.

Describe a restaurant you have been to and enjoyed. Describe a trip you made by public transport. You should say: Where you went What public transport you chose Why you chose public transport And how you felt about the trip

Dangerous Sports

Why do you think some people are attracted to dangerous sports or other dangerous activities? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Nowadays many people attracted to dangerous sports and other dangerous activities. From my everyday experience and observation I think it is a result of dramatic changes in people's life. Just imagine at old times men had to hunt for food, fight, face many challenges and obstacles. Now our days are quite ordinary with a cup of coffee, donut, computer, desk table and TV. Basically, we do not have to straggle every day for our life and we have nutritious meal without any efforts. So, all we have to do is to contemplate out life. However, I must confess it can be boring. All improvements created for the past centuries made our life easier. Nowadays people look for adventure. They want to face a challenge, prove themselves something, conquer the world, etc. Personally, I think that every person sees different goals in doing dangerous activities. Some people want to add some stress and tension to their lives. From the other side, other people want to eliminate stress and tension gained from their everyday lives. They can forget about all troubles and leave them behind. I believe that dangerous activities give one freedom, happiness, feeling of independence and tone. To sum up, I think that dangerous sports and activities are irreplaceable in our life. Without them out life would be miserable and boring.

If I really have to choose a place to describe, I’d like to tell you that …. is such the place。” 策略一:WH细节描述法 当考生在面对话题无从下手时,可以利用”WH Questions”来引导思路的拓展,包括“what, w hen, where, who(whom),why, how (how exactly, how often, how long, how much, how many)”。 例如,Describe a restaurant or cafe you like. 首先须明确what(the Bookworm),when(some five years ago),where (down the south of Chengdu),who(foreigners for most of time);其次是整个描述的重点why(comfortable, pleasant, intimate ),how exactly (detailed

比如考官问你Do you like flowers? 你只回答Yes, I do. 或者说No, I like sports. 或者比如考到Do you like music? 比如pop music 中很多人喜欢的Adele的经典歌曲”Someone like you”。

1.The best way to eat a dumpling is in one bite. “Dumplings are designed to be consumed in one mouthful, as it’s the best way to enjoy the combination of the meat filling and the very thin and springy flour wrapper,” If you can’t use chopsticks, eat your dumplings with your fingers. Avoid using a fork at all costs, as piercing the dumpling will compromise the flavour. 3.Mix two parts vinegar with one part soy sauce for the perfect dumpling sauce. Add young ginger slices too, Chili oil is also a great addition when available. 4.Dumplings are just one element of dim sum. “Dim sum doesn’t just include dumplings. It’s also braised dishes like pork ribs, chicken feet, and beef balls. It’s actually small tapas-style dishes that are eaten in Cantonese restaurants at lunchtime,” 5.Xiao long bao dumplings are different from others as they contain broth. They originated in the Jiangnan region of China and are prepared in bamboo steaming baskets called xiao long, hence the name. 6.When eating xiao long bao or a dumpling with a ~soupy~ interior, opt for chopsticks and a spoon. “As soon as the dumplings arrive at your table, lift one from the steamer basket onto a soup spoon. Next, tear the skin of the dumpling by pressing the chopsticks from the side of the dumpling onto the spoon. The broth will ooze out onto the spoon. Sip the soup then enjoy the dumpling in one mouthful.” 7.You can tell whether your dumpling was cooked fresh or frozen by looking at the skin. “The skin of a freshly made dumpling is springy and light. “Frozen ones tend to be soggy.” 8.When makingdumplingsat home, try to keep your packages small.
