The Differences between College and High School Study

For most high school students, college is their common goal. In their eyes, college is the paradise that is free that they can do whatever they like. Obviously, it is important to know the differences between high school and college. They are as follows.

First of all, in college, it is more demanding in handling the time than in high school. In high school, students had little spare time and had to study all the time. All the things they should to do are to prepare for the College Entrance Examination. While in the college, there is much free time for students. Study is only part of the school life. They can study in the library, stay in their dormitory or go out with their friends. It is necessary to learn how to make use of the free time. Besides, students in college and high school are still students who seek the knowledge, yet study in college is much different from that at high school. High school students seldom consider their future but just study. In college, students need not only to do their academic record well, but also to have the essential social experience prepared for their future.

As for me, it’s a difference that I lived at home when I was at high school, while I live in school’s dormitory in college. It’s my first time to leave my family and live by myself. At high school, my parents arrange almost do everything for me, such as washing clothes, cooking

delicious dishes, cleaning the room and so on. At that time, I was like a little bird in the nest. A bird one day would fly outside the nest and look for food itself. Just like me at the moment. In the college, I live in the dormitory with three other roommates. In dormitory, I learn to take other roommates’ feeling into account when I do something that may affect them. The dormitory not only belongs to me, but also belongs to the other three.

To sum up, college is the further study of high school, and it requires more students’ abilities in many aspects than high school. Realize these differences, and adjust ourselves. I believe I can do better the following years.
