Chapter 1 Task Description

Chapter 1 Task Description

This chapter provides an introduction to this task, including source, contents, requirements, objectives and significance of the task.

1.1 Source of the Task

This report is based on news translation for the China Daily website (Chinese version) since the author worked as its intern from July 2015 to January 2016, and the language pair is from English to Chinese. Generally, the English news needed to be translated for China Daily website (Chinese version) came from English websites, such as CNN, the website of BBC and The Telegraph, etc.. The timeliness of news required the author to translate it as soon as possible in the effective limited time. Also, the author consulted some relevant materials to ensure the accuracy and objectivity of the target text.

1.2 Contents of the Task

This task was to translate the English news into Chinese and then published it on the China Daily website (Chinese version). The content of source texts covered a lot of ground, including politics, business, society and culture, etc..

1.3 Requirements of the Task

The task requires strictly in time limit, which needs to be done within one day after receiving a source text. Besides, the task also has the following requirements: 1.The translator needs to do accurate language transformation for the original content, avoiding factual mistakes and spelling errors; 2.The task requires the translator to translate every sentence smoothly and make the target text conform with Chinese habit of expression, and the logical relationship between each paragraph is also an important point shall be noticed by the translator; 3.Translators shall regard the information dissemination and sharing as their duty and ensure their translations are
