故事梗概

Rachel自打工以来业务一直不熟练，经常把客人的order搞混，就连Monica等人点的东西也记得一塌糊涂。这天几个人又来到Central Penk”，这次为了显显身手，Rachel没等大家提醒就把他们所点的东西一一端给她认为正确的人手中。完事之后．Rachel自认为自己进步神速，非常了不起。可谁知得意洋洋的Rachel一走开，众人便开始交换手中的饮料……

Rachel: (carrying a tray of drinks) Alright, don't tell me, don't tell me! (Starts handing them out.) Decaf cappucino for Joey.. Coffee black.. Late.. And an iced tea. I'm getting pretty good at this! All: Yeah. Yeah, excellent. Rachel: (leaving to serve others) Good for me! (The gang swaps all the drinks for what they ordered as Phoebe enters. She sits down without saying hi.)

在国外，tea(茶)一般指红茶。如果要绿茶则需指明green tea，iced cca是冰茶。同样，冰咖啡为iced coffee。但需要注意的是在西餐馆，客人就坐后送上来的冰开水英文就叫water，不用刻意强调iced water。

beverages包括咖啡、红茶、可乐(coke)、牛奶(milk)、果汁(fruit juice)、啤酒(beer)等。如果是alcoholic beverages或liquor就是只含酒精成分的饮料，像whiskey(威士忌)、brandy(白兰地)、gin(琴酒)等(酒精成分超过40％的烈酒称为spirits)。曾经参加过几次外教组织的聚会，每每回想起当时品尝到的各种鲜美饮料，My mouth waters．(我就口水直流。)除了上述那些我们熟知的那几种之外，还有chocolate milk shake(巧克力奶昔)、vanilla malt(香草麦芽啤酒)、butter milk(酸牛奶)、ginger ale(姜汁汽水)、grape soda(葡萄苏打)、lemonade(柠檬水)、cherry coke (樱桃可乐)、apple cider(苹果西打等等)。如果第一次接触到这么多种饮料，想必你也会drink to your heart’s content(大饱口福)。

故事梗概

Phoebe的账户无缘无故多了500美元，因经便去找银行处理。可她万万没有想到等来的处理结果却是得到500美元的赔款及一部橄榄球电话。大家劝Phoebe将这1000美元留着自己用，Phoebe却觉得自己无法享受这非分之财，毕竟这钱不是自己赚的，留下来跟偷来的没什么区别。于是Phoebe将钱送给了Cizzie 一位无家可归的流浪女人。Cizzie为Phoebe买了一瓶汽水以示谢意，Phoebe开了汽水刚要喝，却突然发规里面漂着一个大拇指! 接下来发生的事更让Phoebe瞠目结舌，汽水公司竟然为此付给她7000美元的赔偿金……

Joey: What are you talking about? Keep it! Phoebe: It's not mine, I didn't earn it, if I kept it, it would be like stealing. Rachel: Yeah, but if you spent it, it would be like shopping! Phoebe: Okay. Okay, let's say I bought a really great pair of shoes. Do you know what I'd hear, with every step I took? 'Not-mine. Not-mine. Not-mine.' 在与别人探讨问题时，有时你会兴奋地发现他的想法竟然与你的不谋而合，这时简单的一句Same here!(我想的跟你一样!)就能表达你的心情。当然，类似的口语表达方式不止一个，其他的如：That makes two of us．(我也是这么想的。)或That goes for me，too．(我也这么想。)或That's just what I was thinking．(这正是我所想的。)等等也能达到同样的效果。

一次坐在电视机前收看有关双胞胎的Talk Show(脱口秀节目)，其中一位双胞胎姐姐的话给我留下了深刻印象。她说：We see cyc to cyc on almost everything．(我们几乎在所有事情上都意见一致。)see eyc to eye在口语中非常实用，表示意见、看法完全一致。sce cye to eye不能从字面上去理解，否则会笑话百出。我的一个朋友就是一个例子。我的这个朋友学英语经常自以为是。一次当听到跟我聊天的老外说Wc see cye to eye!(我跟你的看法完全一致!)时，她立马跳起来把我拉了出去，说：你可不能那样，你们俩不合适!她的话让我莫名其妙，这是哪儿跟哪儿啊?再一问才明白，她把see eye to eye理解成男女双方互相钟情于对方的意思，也就是我们俗话说的俩人看对跟了，真是让人哭笑不得!

说到see eye to eye的来源，那得追溯到《圣经·旧约》中的《以赛亚书》第52章第8节：Try watchmen shall Iift up the voice；with the voicc together shall they sing;for they shall see eye to eye，when thc Lord shall bring again Zion．(听啊，你守望之人的声音。他们扬起声来，一同歌唱。因为耶和华回归锡安的时候，他们必亲眼看见。)不过，现在已经舍弃原来的意义，

而用以表示意见完全一致的意思。

下一个短语也来自《圣经》，它是an eye for an eye(and a tooth for a tooth) 即tit for tat(以眼还眼，以牙还牙。／一报还一报。)例如：If you tourder somcone you deserve to die．An eye for an eye．(如果你杀了人，你就得偿命。／一报还一报。)

故事梗概

Chandler在帮助Joey排练剧本时，给他做了抽烟的示范，没想到把烟瘾一并勾了回来，而且一发不可收拾。为了不让他三年的努力前功尽弃，大家纷纷劝他赶紧戒掉，好话坏话说了一箩筐。可Chandler非但不领情，反而抽得更加理直气壮：大家都有缺点，为什么就不能包容我呢?最终还是Phoebe出招奏效，她说：如果你不再抽烟，我就给你7000美元……
