On the Christmas Culture

Abstract

Christmas is a traditonal festival in western countries. It is the biggest festival cele brated in the Chirstian countries of the world. Christian countries regard this day as the birthday of Jesus Christ, but many of the customs and celebrations are not of a religious nature.

Red,green and write are the Christmas color. Before the Christmas every family will prepare a Christmas tree in the drawing-room. They decreate it very beautiful. On Christmas Eve, the family will have a big dinner, and the children hung up the stock and listen for Santa Claus. Santa Claus is the American name for ST. Nicholas. It was his c ustom to go out at night and bring gifts to the needy. He is a fat jolly man who wears a r ed suit, a red hat and has a long white beared. On Christmas morning, the first thing for many people is gather around the Christmas tree to exchange gifts and Merry Christmas

greeting with each other. Then the Christmas Dinner is coming.

The basic message of Christmas is the announcement that God, the almighty creator of the universe, has come into the world in the human form of a person whose birth name is Jesus. This is the news of God’s incarnation in human flesh. The apostle John has given the appropriate meaning to this historic event in his statement that, “No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only (referring to Jesus Christ), who is at the Father’s side, has made him known” (John 1:18 ).

The significance of Christmas is "forgiveness" and "reconcilement", rather than expecting Christmas gift. In the tranquil night, try to think about if there is someone offended you and haven't got your forgiveness?

Chapter One

INTRODUCTION

For many people, in many countries around the world, celebrating Christmas is a yearly statement of their religious beliefs. For others, it is an opportunity to exchange presents with friends and family, and to indulge in the more secular aspects of the season. Whatever the reason for their celebrations, they are taking part in a festival that combines traditions from various civilisations across three millennia or more.

The decorating of homes for Christmas is very common. Most American who observe Christmas have a Christmas tree in their homes. This may be a real evergreen tree or an artificial one. In either case, the tree is decorated and trimmed with small lights and ornaments. In addition, parents always buykids Christmas socks to contain gifts. According to the traditional legend, Santa Claus will send gifts to kids with socks beside them. As a matter of fact, it is always done by their parents and relatives. Other decorations such as lights and wreaths of evergreen and signs wishing a "Merry Christmas" can be found inside and outside of many homes.

Chapter Two

THE ORIGIN OF CHRISTMAS

2.1The relationship between Christmas and religion

Christmas Day-December 25-which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the founder of the Christian religion, is the biggest and best-loved holiday in the United States.

"Christmas"- meaning "celebration of Christ "- honors the time when Jesus was born to a young Jewish woman Mary.Christmas also referred to as Christmas Day or Christmastide, is an annual holiday celebrated on December 25 that marks and honors the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. His birth, which is the basis for the Anno Domini system of dating, has been determined by modern historians as having occurred between 7 and 2 BC. The date of celebration is not thought to be Jesus' actual date of birth, and may have been chosen to coincide with ancient Roman solar festivals that were held on December 25.

.From December 24th to next January 6 is Christmas feast. During the

festival, christians were held the ceremony. Christmas is originally Christian festiv als, because people attention, it became a national holiday, the

biggest festival in a year, and the New Year in western .

2.2The story of the birth of Jesus

According to the Bible, the holy book of Christians, God decided to allow his only son, Jesus Christ, to be born to a human mother and live on earth so that people could

understand God better and learn to love God and each other more.

Mary was engaged to be married to Joseph, a carpenter, but before they came together, she was found to be with child. Because Joseph, her husband, was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

Although the exact date of the birth of Jesus nearly 2,000 years ago is not known, the calendar on the supposed date divides all time into B.C. (Before Christ )and A.D. ( a Latin phrase, Anno Domini, "in the year of our Lord.")For the first 300 years, Jesus' birthday was celebrated on different dates. Finally, in the year 354, church leaders chose December 25 as his birthday.

Similar worship services are held in many Protestant churches on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day.

The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas. It is believed that Nicholas was born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Much admired

for his piety and kindness, St. Nicholas became the subject of many legends. It is said that he gave away all of his inherited wealth and traveled the countryside helping the poor and sick. One of the best known of the St. Nicholas stories is that he saved three poor sisters from being sold into slavery or prostitution by their father by providing them with a dowry so that they could be married. Over the course of many years, Nicholas’s popularity spread and he became known as the protector of children and sailors. His feast day is celebrated on the anniversary of his death, December 6. This was traditionally considered a lucky day to make large purchases or to get married. By the Renaissance, St. Nicholas was the most popular saint in Europe. Chapter Four

THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS

The gifts to their kids can best embody the meaning of gifts. Anthropologists tend to emphasize the gift in return obligation. However, the gifts to their kids just get rid of the return obligation. The actual Christmas gift giver of course parents, but they gave all the credit to the Secret Santa, just for the sake of the children's naive to expect. Don't let the children lose on Santa's innocence, is to let them understand a truth, people give strangers present, do not need what particular reason. During the festival, appeared in public places of Santa Claus are dressed in the same way, red hat, beard. They under somebody else's name sincerely to strangers, to the cold winter brings endless warmth.

Christmas is the one day of the year that carries real hope and promise for all humankind. It carries the torch of brotherhood. It is the one day in the year when most of us grow big of heart and broad of mind. It is the single day when most of us are as kind and as thoughtful of others as we know how to be; when most of us are as gracious and generous as we would like always to be; when the joy of home is more important than the profits of the office; when peoples of all races speak cheerfully to each other when they meet; when high and low wish each other well; and the one day when even enemies forgive and forget.

The difference between Spring Festival and Christmas is so obvious that we can fi nd easily. First the background is different. One is the eastern festival, and the other is w estern festival. Then the people celebrate them in different ways, such as China does not have Stanta Claus, and America does not have any couplets. At last, east and west eat d ifferent food to celebrate the festival.

But the two festival also have some similarties. The two different festivals are cel ebrate in winter. They are the biggest festivals in the east and west. Families celebrate S pring Festival or Christmas together, and so on. In a word, our family have a good time during the festivals.

I like festivals,no matter what festival it is. Becesure during the festival we can e at delicious food, meet famliy members who we do not see for a long time. Then we ha ve a good time.

The management of China’s Relations with its Neighbors and its Challenges under the Initiative of Belt One Road 1.ABSTRACT To a great extent, the emergence and implementation of the “One Belt One Road”initiative symbolizes a major shift in China’s role within international relations. China has moved from its former role of an observer or participant vis-a-vis the international community or even the global into one of a positive promoter or even shaper of that order. While so,objectively speaking, the “One Belt one Road” is clearly a broad-based developmental initiative, involving many states and a massive population ,and is without precedent in Chinese diplomatic history. At the same time, the national contexts of the states bordering China’s “One Belt one Road” are extremely comliex,if not unavoidable impacts on the initiative. As such, the question of how China can manage its relations with so many different countries is inextricably related to the success of China’s “One Belt one Road”initiative. KEY WORDS: One Belt One Road ; Neighboring States ; Challenges ; Management Regardless of realism, liberalism and constructivism, the research on the behavior of international relations is the question of the proper meaning on the mainstream theories of international relations, but the research on the relationship between the process is obviously weak, the constructivism has been covered without the countries "relation" in-depth study. According to the research of domestic scholars, "relationship" reflects the Chinese traditional thought, and this cultural characteristic has important ideological significance in how to construct national relations. In other words, the importance of the relationship has important enlightenment to promote the implementation of the "China development initiative The Belt and Road". "Development initiative The Belt and Road" means that the China role in international relations began to change, which is involved in some extent from the past into a positive "shape", which relates to the strategy of many countries, population of the public, in Chinese unprecedented diplomatic history. In this context, good governance and "China Belt and Road Initiative along the country's relationship is directly related to the" The Belt and Road "development initiatives and defeat. However, the relationship between governance is important, but not for a relationship, this is obviously the most core challenges facing governance "and China Belt and Road Initiative" of the countries along. Only solution to this challenge is on the basis of China’snational culture to achieve, only in this way, China and The Belt and Road "of the countries along the governance in order to find the soul and the core, lay the foundation for the success of The Belt and Road" initiative. 2.Introduction 2.1 The significance of relationship governance to China and Belt and Road Initiative countries First of all, fundamentally speaking, the relationship between Chinese and Belt and Road Initiative along the country governance effect directly determines the "The Belt and Road" initiative's success or failure, this is undoubtedly the national relationship management on "The
