A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Scripts:

Aside:There was a law in the city of Athens which gave to its citizens the power of forcing their daughters to marry whomever they pleased. For if a daughter refused to marry the man her father had chosen to be her husband, the father might by thus law cause her to be put to death.

ACT I. SCENE I

Athens. The corrider.

HERMIA: Father, please, please don’t do that.

Egeus: I’m sorry ,HERMIA, you have to marry Demetrious, the eligible young man in the city.

HERMIA: I can’t, Father! I can’t be his wife. Egeus: Why do you refused to marry Demetrius? He is really a worthy gentleman!

HERMIA: But I don’t love him. I've fell in love with Lysander.

Egeus: Lysander? Is he better than Demetrious? No!

HERMIA: Oh! Father! Demetrious had ever said that he love my friend, Helena, and she, a sweet lady also love him deeply.

Egeus: No matter what you say, I've decided to let you marry Demetrious. I stick to do this!

HERMIA: I won’t give my heart to the person who I never like.

Egeus: If you don't marry Demetrious, I'll use the ancient right of Athens, asking to put you to death according to our law!

HERMIA: Oh! Please, please do not! My dear father! Don’t you love me any more?

Don’t give me up, please!

Lysander

Lysander: Sweet HERMIA, my love! What’s going wro ng? Let me wipe your heart-breaking tears!

HERMIA: My father said that unless I marry Demetrious, or he’ll be put me to death!

Lysander: My love…

Hermia,

Hermia:NO…Hermia

LYSANDER. Ay me! For aught that I

could ever read, Could ever

hear by tale or history, The

course of true love never did

run smooth; But either it was

different in blood-

HERMIA. O cross! Too high to be

enthrall’d to low.

LYSANDER. Or else misgraffed in

respect of years-

HERMIA. O spite! Too old to be

engag’d to young.

LYSANDER. Or else it stood upon the

choice of friends-

HERMIA. O hell! To choose love by

another’s eyes.

LYSANDER. Or, if there were a

sympathy in choice, War,

death, or sickness, did lay

siege to it, Making it

momentary as a

sound,Swift as a shadow,

short as any dream, Brief

as the lightning in the

collied night,That, in a

spleen, unfolds both

heaven and earth, And ere

a man hath power to say

‘Behold!’ The jaws of

darkness do devour it up;

So quick bright things

come to confusion.

HERMIA. If then true lovers have ever

cross’d, It stands as an edict

in destiny. Then let us teach

our trial patience, Because

it is a customary cross, As

due to love as thoughts and

dreams and sighs, Wishes

and tears, poor Fancy’s

followers.

Lysander: You are right, my love. Therefore, hear me, HERMIA. Tomorrow night, I’ll wait for you in the wood a few miles outside the city. If you really love

me, gets far away this sad city with me.

HERMIA: I will because I love you so.

Lysander: Keep promise, love. Here comes Helena and I have to go. See you tomorrow night!

(Helena 上)HERMIA: I’m so glad to see you, fair Helena. Helena: You call me fair? That fair again unsay. Demetrious loves your fair. Oh, tech me how to attract his eyes, please?

HERMIA: Take comfort, he no more shall see my face. (激动的说)Tomorrow night Lysander and myself will fly this place. We’ll meet in the wood.

Please pray for us and don’t tell others, farewell.(从左侧下)明晚莱赛

HELENA(在廊柱绕行)How happy some o'er other some can be! Through

Athens I am thought as fair as

she.But what of that? Demetrius

thinks not so; He will not know

what all but he do know. And as he

errs, doting on HERMIA's eyes, So

I, admiring of his qualities. Things

base and vile, holding no quantity,

ove can transpose to form and

dignity. Love looks not with the

eyes, but with the mind; And

therefore is wing'd Cupid painted

blind. Nor hath Love's mind of any

judgment taste; Wings and no eyes

figure unheedy haste; And therefore

is Love said to be a child, Because

in choice he is so oft beguil'd. As

waggish boys in game themselves

forswear, So the boy Love is

perjur'd everywhere;For ere

Demetrius look'd on HERMIA's

eyne, He hail'd down oaths that he

was only mine; And when this hail

some heat from HERMIA felt, So

he dissolv'd, and show'rs of oaths

I will go tell

him of fair HERMIA's flight; Then

to the wood will he to-morrow night

Pursue her; and for this

intelligenceIf I have thanks, it is a

dear expense. But herein mean I to

enrich my pain, To have his sight

thither and back again.(飘下去)有些人比起其他的人来是多么幸福!

ACT II. SCENE I

A wood near Athens

Puck)

Aside:The wood was a favorite meeting-place of those little, beings known by the name of fairies. Between this little king and green of spirits there happened, at this time, a sad disagreement.

Oberon: I’ll meet by moonlight, proud Titania.

Titania: What, jealous Oberon! Fairies, run hence; I have left his company.

Oberon: Wait, foolish fairy, why do you oppose me so? Give me that little boy to be my slave.

Titania: Set your heart at rest, your whole fairy kingdom will not buy the boy from me.

Oberon: Well, go your way. Before the morning dawns, I will make you suffer for this injury. Come

here, my gentle Puck.

Puck: I’m here, my lord.

Oberon: Fetch me the flower which maids call Love-in-Idleness; the juice of that little purple flower, laid on the eyelids of those who sleep, will make them, when

they awake, love madly the first thing they see. I have showed you

before,GO NOW!

Puck: I’ll do that very well. Believe me.

OBERON: Having once this juice, I'll

watch Titania when she is asleep, And drop the liquor of it in her eyes; The next thing then she waking looks upon, Be it on lion, bear, or wolf, or bull, On meddling monkey, or on busy ape, She shall pursue it with the soul of love. And ere I take this charm from off her sight, I’ll make her render up her page to me.(传来嘈杂的

But who comes here?

I am invisible; And I wil overhear their conference

Demetrious: I love you not, therefore pursue me not. Where are Lysander and fair HERMIA? You told me they are there, but I can’t meet my HERMIA. Go away and follow me no more.

Helena: You draw me, you hard-hearted adamant.

Demetrious: Do I speak you fair? Tell you, I do not, nor I cannot love you.

Helena: And even for that do I love you the more. Please let me follow you even I am like your dog.

Demetrious(甩开Helena): I am sick when I do look on you!

Helena: And I am sick when I look not on you.

Demetrious: Let me go. Cause I’m so hate you!

Helena: Don’t leave me alone. Please stay, though you kill me.

Oberon: The poor girl! I have to help her. Welcome, wanderer, has you get the flower? (Puck

Puck(跑上来): Ay, there it is.

Oberon: Thank you, my cute spirit. Take a part of this flower: there has been a sweet lady here, who is in love with a cruel youth. If you find him sleeping, drop

some of the love-juice in his eyes. But see that you do it when he awakes

maybe this lady. You will know the man by the Athenian garments he wears.

Puck: Fear not, my lord, your servant shall do so.

SCENE II

The other part of the wood (仙女们忙著做事,此时泰妲尼娅进来) Titania: Fairies, sing me now asleep; then to your offices and let me rest.

仙女唱歌跳舞: Weaving spiders, come not here;

Hence, you long-legg'd spinners, hence.

Beetles black, approach not near;

Worm nor snail do no offence.(使用电影里的配乐)(然后散去,奥伯龙上,将汁液涂抹在泰妲尼娅的眼皮上。)

Oberon: What you see when you do you awake, do it for your true love take. Love and languish for his sake.

ACT III. SCENE I

Another part of the wood

Lysander: Fair love, you faint with wandering in the wood; if you think it good, and tarry for the comfort of the day.

HERMIA: Be it so, Lysander. Good night, sweet lover.

HERMIA. No, good Lysander. For my sake, my dear, Lie further off yet, do not lie so near.

Hermia

LYSANDER: Come on,sweet, take the sense, of my innocence! Lovers should sleep side by side

HERMIA: But, gentle friend, for love and courtesy, Lie further off, in human modesty; So far is OK,(用手指着另一边,再次做出“请”的动作)and good night, sweet friends.

I wish sleep give you all his rest!

LYSANDER(不情愿的走到另一边,看着Hermia):I wish share with you.(躺下) 两人同睡,Puck上

PUCK. Through the forest have I

gone,

But Athenian found I none

On whose eyes I might approve

This flower's force in stirring love. Night and silence- Who is here?

Weeds of Athens he doth wear:

This is he, my master said,

Despised the Athenian maid;

And here the maiden, sleeping sound, On the dank and dirty ground.

Pretty soul! she durst not lie

Near this lack-love, this kill-courtesy.

Churl, upon thy eyes I throw

All the power this charm doth owe: When thou wak'st let love forbid

Sleep his seat on thy eyelid.

So awake when I am gone;

For I must now to Oberon.

狠心地欺负那美貌娇娃;
