《英国文学史及选读》课程建设总结

《英国文学史及选读》是外语系英语专业三年级本科生必修的专业主干课之一,总学时为72学时。通过本课程的学习,使学生了解英国文学的发展脉络,初步掌握各个时期的流派、作家、作品、文学常识等, 提高学生对文学作品的理解力和鉴赏力,并能就某一作家或品写出一般性的评论文章,从而提高学生运用英语语言的综合能力。文学是语言的载体, 通过文学的学习能使学生把语言与文学有机地结合起来, 使学生在学习语言与文学的过程中更好地了解英国的社会时尚、风土人情及人文思想等。

作为外语系理论教研室重点课程建设之一,自2004年以来,《英国文学史及选读》一直按照课程建设规划有计划、分步骤地进行着工作: 2004年被评为院级优秀课程;2005年成功发布了英国文学校园网络课程,比原计划提前两年完成,并于2006年11月成功改版;2006年被评为省级优秀课程。原计划在2005年达到院级精品课程,因学院当年尚未评选,本课程于2007年被评为院精品课程,这样,《英国文学史及选读》这门课程已经完成了课程建设规划中的全部预定目标。

1.师资状况

1.1课程带头人

课程带头人,李伟娟(副教授,外语系理论教研室主任)于1990年7月毕业于四平师范学院(现吉林师范大学)外语系英语教育专业,获文学学士学位。同年到白城师专现白城师院任教。(2007年获吉林大学比较文学与世界文学专业硕士学位。)先后担任了综合英语、听力、英国文学史及选读、口语、高级英语、英国文学简史等课程的主讲工作。近五年内,发表省级论文10篇,核心期刊论文2篇。从2002年起,分别主持了三项院级课题,一项省级重点课题,并参加了三项省级、两项院级课题的研究。主持的院重点教研课题“现代教育技术与英国文学课程整合的研究与实践”于2004年获我院优秀教学成果二等奖,同年,主讲的《英国文学史及选读》课被评为院优秀课,2006年被评为省优秀课,2007年被评为院精品课。2005年课程带头人被评为院骨干教师。2004、2005年连续被评为优秀党员。从2003年起,一直承担本课程的授课任务,并为该课程的负责人,教学效果一直优秀。

1.2 教师结构

在课程建设过程中,我们非常注重教师队伍的建设,积极吸纳年轻教师。《英国文学史及选读》课程组由7名教师组成,其中副教授3名,讲师1名,助教3人。成员具体情况介绍如下:

1)年龄结构:40岁以上2人,35~40岁2人,35岁以下3人;

2)职称结构:副教授与讲师、助教的比例为3∶1:3

3)学历结构:博士1人,硕士2人,大学本科学历4人。(其中在读硕士4人)4)主讲教师资格及职称:本课程组的6名教师都担任系内课程的主讲工作,而且均承担了2门以上的课程,担任主讲的教师均具有主讲教师资格。为了更好地将现代教育技术、现代信息技术与《英国文学史及选读》这门课程有效地整合,使之更好地为本课程的教学改革服务,我课程组与教育技术系横向联合,聘请了徐锐英老师为我课程组技术指导。

自2004年《英国文学史及选读》课程组成立以来,每位成员都能认真钻研业务,积极进行教研、科研活动,课程组其他成员共发表省级、省级以上教研科研论文近20余篇,获院优秀教学成果奖及其他奖项10余人次。同时,均主持或参加了至少一项院级或省级教研、科研课题。

2.教学改革与建设

2.1教学改革状态

本课程组围绕课程内容、教学方法、实践教学和课程特色建设等开展以本学科为主的教学改革,依据本学科特点来规划本和整合教学内容,改革课程结构,采用模块教学,把教学与提高学生素质教育紧密地结合起来;建设立体化教材,自编网络课程、电子教案,将信息技术融入课程体系的各要素中,实现信息技术与课程的有效整合,使之成为教师的教学工具,学生的认知工具。

在课程建设过程中,以教研课题为依托,积极开展教研科研活动,以科研带动教研从而促进教学水平、教学质量的提高。2006年完成了院级重点教研课题“现代教育技术与英国文学课程整合的研究与实践”,并获得了院级优秀教学成果奖二等奖; 2006年,“现代信息技术与英国文学课程整合的研究与实践”被批准为省级重点教研课题,该课题已经取得了阶段性的研究成果,其中成果之一是英国文学校园网络课程被评为省优秀教学技术成果三等奖。

为了给学生提供广阔的自由发展空间,充分发挥学生的主动性、积极性和创造性,本课程采用了实时和非实时教学,教师在课堂上系统讲授基本知识,为学生提供研究的方法和手段示范,课外开展学生基于网络教学资源的研究性学习,学生作为知识建构过程中的积极参与者,通过开展多种形式的研究性学习,极大地提高了学生的求知欲和创造欲,其信息素养得到了增强,研究能力和创新能力得到提高。主要表现在以下几个方面:

1)教学内容模块化

由于英国文学史的课时有限,我们实行模块教学,围绕《英国文学史及选读》设计课堂教学内容,设计了表格式内容提要板块、背景知识板块、作家生平板块、作品分析板块、电影(歌曲)欣赏板块、网络文献板块等项内容,并根据具体作家增设相应的板块,如文学贡献板块等。

2)教学资源立体化

本课程除了使用国内一些优秀教材外,还提供了有助于学生课外基于网络自主学习的自编网络课程、电子文字教材、电子教案、教师共享空间、教师个人网页等。

建设立体化教材,包括英国文学网络课程1部,多媒体电子教案1套,电子文字教材1部;素材料库包括作家图片库、名著插图库、经典影碟库、习题库、试卷库等。多媒体电子教案、电子文字教材以及素材库全部刻录光盘。

3)实践教学多样化

本课程重视实践教学,为学生设计各类课余活动,如名著表演、多媒体课件制作、模拟论文答辩、名篇朗诵、文学常识竞赛等,使实践教学在培养学生发现问题、分析问题和解决问题的能力方面充分发挥作用。

4)教学方法与手段最优化

围绕课程建设我们对英国文学课堂教学模式进行的深入细致的研究与探索,全程采用多媒体授课。我们将现代教育信息技术、网络与本学科的教学有机地结合起来,使之融为一体,从而改善了教与学的效果,提高了教与学的效率与质量,实现了对传统教学模式的革新,并重新定位了教师和学生的角色。

2.2教学文件及教材

1)教学大纲及教学日历

近五年来,课程组对《英国文学史及选读》教学大纲进行了多次修订,使其内容和体系上更加科学、合理,符合素质教育的要求,各位教师都具有完整的教学任务书,教学进度计划表(教学日历),教材使用说明等纲领性文件。

2)教材及其他教学资料

本课程所使用的教材先后采用了由高等教育出版社出版,王守仁主编的《英国文学选读》、商务出版社出版的陈嘉编《英国文学史》,以及东北师范大学出版社出版的黄际英等人编写的《英国文学史及作品选读》等教材,并为学生指定了外语教学与研究出版社出版的吴伟仁主编的《英国文学史及选读》、河南人民出版社出版的刘善编著的《英国文学简史》、商务印书馆出版的陈嘉著《英国文学史》等参考书。根据教学的需要,我们收集整理了大量的补充教材料,购买了百余种图书资料、音像资料,对课堂教学效果的提高起到了重要的作用。课程组每位教师都能认真备课,都有内容丰富、翔实的教案及题库等,教学档案齐全。

3 教学实施与管理

3.1教学质量与管理

各主要教学环节质量标准完善,能较科学、准确地对教师的教学质量进行评价。课程组各项规章制度健全,使得教学管理制度化、检查定期化、教学规范化。制定了相关的规章制度。主要有:

1)教学工作计划:对每学期课程组的工作做详细说明;

2)集体备课制度:对备课的含义及备课的各项要求做了明确的规定;

3)辅导答疑与批改作业制度:对辅导答疑内容、批改作业方式方法、以及教师的职责作了规定;

4)学生成绩考核制度:对命题、阅卷及如何公正地考核学生成绩作了规定;5)听课制度:规定观摩教学、教师听课次数及评课的制度;

6)教学研究制度:对教学研究的开展,学术报告会的次数,讲师以上职称教师开展教学研究的要求作了规定;

7)教学业务档案管理制度:对教学日历、教学大纲、文件等的保管及借阅情况作了规定。

课程组还具有运行良好、确保教学质量的相关机制和自我调控机制,形成了教学工作信息反馈系统。不定期组织学生进行问卷调查,整体评教。同时,以个

别沟通、测评或座谈会等多种形式开展双向交流活动;同行测评等活动。

3.2课堂讲授及辅导答疑、批改作业

1)每位教师都严格遵守教学大纲、教学设计,认真授课,每节课都能做到教学目的明确,突出重点,突破难点,方法灵活,深入浅出,教学督导和教学管理人员听课评价均良好以上。

2)作业题目适量,符合教学要求。全部教师均能做到认真批改作业,坚持每学期集体辅导答疑一、二次,个别辅导随时随地进行。公布教师电子信箱、QQ号,较好地满足了学生需求。部分教师利用电子邮件,采取网上批改作业。

3.3实践教学

教学过程中,我们十分注重学生实践能力的培养,开展了丰富多彩的第二

堂活动,如英文名篇阅读、朗读,文学常识竞赛等活动。我系学生历来擅长戏剧表演,我们倡议成立了戏剧社,我们还倡议学生成立了课件制作小组。

1)名著表演:改编英国文学名著,要求学生组成协作小组,自编自导自演。2)多媒体课件制作:鼓励学生根据所学内容利用Powerpoint, Authorware, Flash 等制作多媒体课件。

3)名篇朗诵:开展读书周活动,撰写读书心得。

4)文学常识竞赛:提高学生对文学的兴趣,各个年级学生均可参加。

5)论文写作:鼓励学生自选研究专题,通过网站学习自主阅读等撰写课程论文。

3.4成绩考核

1)学生成绩考核规范,由平时(包括出勤情况、作业情况、课堂表现情况)和期末考试两部分组成,平时占10%,期末考试占90%。

2)试卷流水批改,试题符合大纲要求,题目分文学史和文学选读两部分,形式多样,试题难易适中、覆盖面广。

3)能对学生的作业、考试做认真分析,及时了解学生对所学知识的掌握情况。4教学效果

几年来学生对课程组教师的教学效果都非常满意,在近年来学校教学质量测评中,本课程组教师测评胜任率均在良好以上。在教师授课各重要环节上学生的满意率在85%以上。

5、课程特色

围绕课程建设,我们对英国文学课堂教学模式进行了深入细致的研究,我们将现代教育信息技术、网络与本学科的教学有机地结合起来,使之融为一体,从而改善了教与学的效果,提高了教与学的效率与质量,实现了对传统教学模式的革新,并重新定位了教师和学生的角色。本课程充分利用丰富的网络资源、英国文学史电影改编视觉资源、西方美术视觉资源、西方历史文化视觉资源,以及制作语言表述的视觉图,把文字性的静态英国文学变为视觉性动态英国文学,并逐步形成具有文化性、科学性、交流性和实用性与一体的课程特色。

6、课程继续建设计划

虽然本课程已经全部完成了课程建设的预期目标,但这并不意味着课程建设的终结。我们将继续该课程的建设,在近三至五年内,将《英国文学史及选读》建成具有科学性、先进性、趣味性的省级精品课程,教学内容体现教学与科学研究的结合,跟踪研究学科前沿性的知识并不断地注入教学内容中,激发学生的探求愿望和钻研热情。为实现这一目标,我们做如下计划:

1)加强教学改革力度

教学方法上广泛吸收先进的教学经验,教学过程规范化,教学设计合理化,教学方法灵活多样,进一步提高制作和运用多媒体教学课件和网络学习课件的水平,使其成为能满足学生自主学习需要的名符其实的学院精品课程。

2)切实加强教学队伍建设

要进一步调整教师资源,形成合理的课程教学梯队。通过省级精品课程的建设,逐步形成一支结构合理、人员稳定、教学水平高、教学效果好的教师梯队。3)提高教学梯队运用现代信息技术的能力与水平

使用网络对建设课程进行教学与管理,多媒体教学课件、网络课件以及相关的教学大纲、教案、习题、参考文献目录等全部上网并免费开放,实现优质教学资源共享,带动其他课程的建设。

4)完善网络教学环境

目前,本课程在实践性教学环境方面还有待提高,现有教学条件只可以用多媒体软件授课,但教学中还不能直接与网络联接,影响教学效果。在英国文学课课程软件制作前,主讲教师对课程进行了精心设计,使教学课件不仅可以做幻灯片播放,同时将主要内容与网络联接,可随时获得网络信息,给学生提供更广泛的学习空间和领域。但现在由于网络教学环境还不健全,不能充分实现主讲教师

的设计理念,这些都需进一步完善。

5)以科学研究带动教学研究

围绕本门课程,负责人主持了“现代教育技术与英国文学课程教学整合的研究与实践”课题,并获院优秀教学成果二等奖,该课题的成果之一为本门课程的全部多媒体课件,该课件的使用实现了对传统教学模式的革新。在该课题的基础上,负责人又主持了省重点课题“现代信息技术与英国文学课程整合的研究与实践”,围绕网络课程建设,进一步改进信息技术在课程中的使用。

It was a long compasition, sometimes in verses, sometimes in prose, describing the life and adventure of a noble hero.
