People’s ideas on which is the best way of learning about life vary from person to person. Some people hold that the best way of learning about life is by listening to the advice from family and friends. However, other people hold that it could be achieved through personal experience. As to me, I agree with the second opinion.

For one thing, it seems to be true that from other people you can get some suggestions about life, but it doesn’t mean that others’ideas could be applied to your life situations, for each person is different from others in his background and life style. For another, it could also be argued that family and friends’ideas could be helpful, but your personal experience teaches you more about how to achieve success, how to deal with different people. It is often said that we learn something by doing it in person.

Therefore, the first idea cannot stand up to close examination. We should

learn about life in practice.

Many parents are generally prone to the belief that private tutoring can help their kids with different subjects by raising their academic scores and improving their learning skills. Children have to visit their teacher in their spare time, usually at weekends. But in fact, private tutoring doesn’t always work.

The disadvantages of private tutoring are quite obvious. First, some private tutors are college students, who have no teaching experience. dependence on private tutoring should be avoided and controlled.

Nowadays a misconception among our teachers is that students should pay more attention to their textbooks. Sometimes students are not allowed to do more other reading after class, especially when the reading material are not closely related to their textbooks. I would like to convince our teachers that learning in class could not meet all the demands for one’s education. Reading in spare time contributes to one’s personal development in several ways. First, practice reading after class can improve students’self study skills. When th

materials cover a wide variety of topics, students will be more likely to benefit from reading by forming sensible view of the world and life.

In short, students should be encouraged to do more reading after class so as to improve their both academic and social abilities.

Should Children Be Allowed to Cry?

When a child fell down and started to cry, his parents would say to him, “Don’t cry, Be a big boy.”Many of us had such experience in our childhood. With these words, parents are sending a message that big boys don’t cry and crying isn’t an appropriate response.

So far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong with children’s crying, because it can make them feel better. When parents tell their children not to cry, they are teaching them to keep their sensitive feeling inside. This will lead to children’s inability of expressing themselves on subjects that deal with emotions when they grow up. Besides, according to the recent findings, when people cry, tears carry some toxic substances from their body. This might be a possible explanation for why women enjoy a longer life than men, who they cry far less than females.

In short, crying is useful way of self-expression. Crying with an acceptable reason is natural part of our life for it is beneficial to us both physiologically

and psychologically.

The other day, I heard a case on the radio about a schoolboy who broke a window. His parents blamed the teacher, saying that the teacher had not been able to teach the child not to do so. Many parents share the same idea with this one, who believe that teachers have more influence on children so they have to be responsible for the children’s wrong doing.

I do not agree with it at all. Many social and family factors contributes to the children’s development. Among them, parents play a more important role. Before children go to school, they spend most time with parents. During this period, parents are responsible for not only the nurture of their young children but also their early education. Furthermore, because of kinship, children can never escape from the influence from the family. Parents are always the closest persons tot hem. Last but not least, if a child has got positive influence from his parents, it will be easier for him to follow the teacher’s instruction and achieve success in his study or work.
