Good morning, everyone. The topic of unit one is “changes in the way we live”. Compared with our life in the past, the way we live today has already changed a great deal. When it comes to the factors that change our life, I think the most important is technology. So today my topic is”Technology Is Changing Our Life”. From the comparison between the life now and the one in the past, we can find out how great technology has changed and improved the way we live.

Whether you are aware of it or not, every day at every time technology is greatly influencing the way we live and work. Computers, new technology in the 21th century, are the best examples. Asone of the greatest inventions of human beings, they are being used more and more extensively in the world today. Especially when their functions are amplified with the help of the Internet, computers may even make everything convenient and possible.

You can do shopping on the net instead of going to the physical store. If your family wants to buy a TV, you can see a picture of the model and find the store with the best price through your computer. You need only to send a message to that store and the right amount of money will be taken out of your bank account and put into the store. In this way,you can buy anything you want without going out of the room.

Rather than going out early and coming back at dusk, you can work at home through computer. The Internet, the main trading tool, makes

SOHO(small office, home office) possible. This will make the workplace more comfortable and reduce transportation time and hence potentially boost actual work hours.

Besides, you canacquire a lot of information from the Internet. The Internet presents a vivid world tous. Sitting in front of your computer, only by clicking the mouse, you can acquire the up to the minute news, the latest development in politics and science and the most peculiar customs and cultures in the world.Technology offers us a close and convenient access to the changing information.

Furthermore, the Internet also shortens the distance between people. Owning a computer, you can communicate with your relatives or friends by sending e-mails no matter how far they are from you.We no longer need letters to keep in contact with each other.

In summary, modern technology has a great influence onour life. Our lifestyle has been changed due to the improvement of technology.The society is developing and I’m sure in the near futuremore and more changes will take place in our life.
