White List
The White List (Allow list) is a subscriber administered list containing calling party telephone numbers that will be allowed to connect to the end user subscriber even in the event that the calling party is determined to be a telemarketer.
Black List
The Black List is a subscriber administered list of calling telephone numbers that will
be blocked whether they are considered telemarketers or not.
Grey List
The Grey list is a list of suspected telemar-keters with an applied ranking / scoring algorithm that determines whether or not telemarketing treatment is required on a per call basis.
Subscriber Interaction
A subscriber places an incoming calling party number on the telemarketing watch list in one of two ways, either by using the *44 after the call is completed, or by using the full range of administrative capabili-
ties accessed via *46 access code. After a programmable number of subscribers,
i.e.10, enter the same calling party’s number in Xpress Telemarketer Guard, the calling party is officially considered on the grey list and will be treated according to the Tele-marketer Guard rules. The power of Xpress Telemarketer Guard lies in an innovative design methodology called ‘crowd sourced wisdom’, which makes use of the entire subscribed population as intelligent filtering agents for identifying telemarketers. Telemarketer Treatment
The following description is based on:
? Subscriber has Xpress Telemarketer Guard activated
? The calling party has an associated valid Calling Line ID.
? The Calling line score (in Xpress TMG Algorithm) has reached a level for Tele-
marketer treatment.Black List Treatment
If the calling party is entered in the subscrib-
ers “Black List” the call will be terminated
immediately.
Non-Black List Treatment
If the calling party is not contained in the
subscribers “Black List” and the calling par-
ties algorithm score has elevated them to the
Telemarketer status the following treatments
will apply.
Subscriber has activated Telemarketers to
Voicemail:
If the subscriber has activated “telemarketers
to voice mail” the telemarketer will receive
the ant- telemarketer message. Next the
telemarketer will receive a prompt to press 1
to be sent to the subscribers Voicemail. Any
telemarketer using predictive dialers cannot
perform these steps.
Subscriber has NOT activated Telemarketers
to Voicemail:
If the subscriber has NOT activated tele-
marketers to voice mail the telemarketer will
receive the anti-telemarketer message. Next
the telemarketer will receive a prompt to
press 1 to announce themselves to the call-
ing party. In this scenario subscriber has the
following options:
? Reject the call
? Send the call to Voicemail
? Send the call to Voicemail and set
future calls to go directly to Voicemail.
If a telemarketer is using a predictive dialing
system, responding to the press 1 prompt is
not allowed by their system therefore they
are never connected to the subscriber.
Xpress Application Server TM
The Xpress Telemarketer Guard software is
installed on PT’s Xpress Application Server,
with the Xpress Service Delivery Platform.
The hardware platform ranges in size from
the X2 containing up to 4 application server
processing blades, to the X4 containing
up to 14 application server processing
blades. The Xpress Application Server
supports a highly available (HA) config-
uration using its clustering technology.
The cluster allows two Xpress Applica-
tion Servers to be joined under the
control of a network interface unit
(NIU). The NIU distributes incoming
calls across all available application
server processing blades.
