The charts below show the results of a survey of adult education. The first chart shows the reasons why adults decide to study. The pie chart shows how people think the costs of adult education should be shared. Write a report for a university lecturer, describing the information shown below.

[Answer1]

The bar chart shows the various reasons people cited when deciding to study in adulthood, and the pie chart indicates the results of a survey which asked people who should pay for such education.

The reasons for taking up further education fall into three groups. In the first and largest, students cite interest and qualifications as reasons, each being mentioned by about 40%.

The second group of reasons, cited by similar percentages of respondents, contains three reasons. Some people, 22%, feel further education will be helpful for their current jobs, others, slightly lower at 20%, feel it will increase their chances of promotion, and still others, again at 20%, simply feel they would enjoy the chance to study more.

The third group contains two reasons, namely the possibility of changing jobs and the chance of making friends, being cited by 12% and 9% of students respectively.

The pie chart indicates that 40% of people think the cost of adult education should be met by students themselves.

A slightly smaller percentage deem that employers should foot the bill. It is intriguing, however, to note that only

25% feel that taxpayers ought to pay.

[Answer 2]

Continuing education now is a very popular trend for many adults. So a survey for this phenomenon has been made. The results of it is showed before.

The two charts show the results for a research of adult education. The reasons why adults determine to study illustrated in the bar chart. And how the costs of it should be shared showed in the pie chart.

It is clear that most important reason for adults choose to study is interest. It account for 42% of all. To gain qualifications is the next largest proportion, 2% lower than the first kind. It can be noted that helpful for current job, to improve prospects of promotion, enjoying the process of learning are nearly half of the two reasons explained before. By contrast the 5 reasons above, the proportions of changing job and meeting people is much less. They only occupy 12% and 9% for each one.

For the pie chart about how the costs should be divided. Individuals is the largest part which can reach up as 40%. The employer is less and make up for 35%. The taxpayer is least and only form one quarter of all.

Conclusions can be got that people take part in education usually for more than one reason. These reasons can be classified into several kinds. The largest part is individual reason. Also, we can draw a conclusion that the sizes of three generations are based on the reasons people acceding education.

At last, we can find that Bar chart and pie chart are good ways to show the composition and characteristics of the structure of the data. They are clear and intuitive.

There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we needmusic? Is the traditional music of a country more important than theInternational music that is heard everywhere nowadays?(BAND 9score)

It is true that a rich variety of musical styles can be found around the world. Music is a vital part of all human cultures for a range of reasons, and I would argue that traditional music is more important than modern, international music.

Music is something that accompanies all of us throughout our lives. As children, we are taught songs by our parents and teachers as a means of learning language, or simply as a form of enjoyment. Children delight in singing with others, and it would appear that the act of singing in a group creates a connection between participants, regardless of their age. Later in life, people’s musical preferences develop, and we come to see our favorite songs as part of our life stories. Music both expresses and arouses emotions in a way that words alone cannot. In short, it is difficult to imagine life without it.

In my opinion, traditional music should be valued over the international music that has become so popular. International pop music is often catchy and fun, but it is essentially a commercial product that is marketed and sold by business people. Traditional music, by contrast, expresses the culture, customs and history of a country. Traditional styles, such as ...(example)..., connect us to the past and form part of our cultural identity. It would be a real pity if pop music became so predominant that these national styles disappeared.

In conclusion, music is a necessary part of human existence, and I believe that traditional music should be given more importance than international music.

The diagram below shows how the Australian Bureau of Meteorologycollects up-to-the-minute information on the weather in order to producereliable forecasts.Write a report for a university lecturer describing theinformation shownbelow.

The figure illustrates the process used by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology to forecast the weather.

There are four stages in the process, beginning with the collection of information about the weather. This information is then analyzed, prepared for presentation, and finally broadcast to the public.

Looking at the first and second stages of the process, there are three ways of collecting weather data and three ways of analyzing it. Firstly, incoming information can be received by satellite and presented for analysis as a satellite photo. The same data can also be passed to a radar station and presented on a radar screen or synoptic chart. Secondly, incoming information may be collected directly by radar and analyzed on a radar screen or synoptic chart. Finally, drifting buoys also receive data which can be shown on a synoptic chart.

At the third stage of the process, the weather broadcast is prepared on computers. Finally, it is delivered to the public on television, on the radio, or as a recorded telephone announcement.

IELTS 1 test 2 writing task 2

Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorernations by providing such things as food and education? Or is it theresponsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after theircitizens themselves?

The governments of the poorer nations have the responsibility to look after their citizens but they do not always have the ability to do so. This is why wealthy nations not only should but have to be required to share their wealth among the poorer nations by providing such things as food and education.

As human beings we are obligated to help our kind with whatever we can. Less developed African countries such as Kenya for example have thousands of people starving and many people do not have education. It is every person's right to have education and we should not let people die from starvation. It is inhumane to leave people live like this. For this people to have enough food and a sufficient education, more aid is needed from wealthy nations.

On the other hand, some people think that every government should look for its own people and should not rely on wealthier nations. It may be due to a fear that, if wealthier countries help poorer countries they will get used to being helped and won't develop themselves, but then wealthier nations could help the poor governments with ideas how to improve their people's quality of life.

In conclusion, both wealthy and poor nations should do their best for their people. Let's hope that in the future there will

be more helps from wealthy countries, so all people live normally with enough food to eat, good health and sufficient education.

Nowadays, developed countries are making an effort to assist developing countries through aid program. Personally, I believe, while they should keep doing this, it is also the responsibility of the government in developing countries to tackle the problem of poverty.

It is the demand of morality to help other nations in need. Instead of wasting huge money on unnecessary programs such as improving the movie industry, which holds recreational purpose for the society, theycould supply food and survive the lives of people from starvation. Not only poor nations but also developed countries can benefit from investing money on educational system of developing countries. Firstly, they will be able to recognize talented people in poor nations and help them to develop their skills and make them useful people for both countries. Secondly, educated people are morelikely useful for international activities such as trade and tourism and make the world a better place for living.

On the other hand, the main responsibility of tackling poverty problems goes to the government of developing countries. Since the government is the center of power and resources, they have to recognize (natural and human) resource and make a plan to overcome the problems. By hiring experts in different areas such as economists, politics politicians andother specialists, the government would be able to establish helpful long-term and short-term schemes. For example, developing sanitary facilities and improving water system as a short-term plan, and raising awareness and nurturing young generation as a long-term plan.

To conclude, I hold this view that helping developing countries is a matter of moral issue for wealthy nations, and making better standard ofliving for the citizens is a task which should be done mainly by their government.

The chart below shows the amount of money per week spent on fast foods in Britain. The graph shows the trends in consumption of fast foods. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.

The bar chart shows how much money was spent on fast foods per week in the UK over a span of 2 0 years from 1970 to 1990 while the graph reveals the trend of fast food consumption over the same period of time.

The bar chart describes the expenditure per person per week spent on fast foods in UK while the line graph illustrates the trends in consumption of that from 1997 to 1990.

As can be seen from the bar chart, expenditure on fast foods is broken down into 3 income groups—high income, average income and low income. In the high income groups, expenditure spent on hamburgers accounts for the biggest amount, reaching at just over 40 pence per person per week; while that spent on fish and chips, and pizza are nearly the same which are 17 pence and 19 pence respectively. However, the amount of money spent on hamburgers in average income category falls, reaching at around 32 pence whereas consumptions for fish and chips increases to 25 and pizza has the lowest amount only occupies 11 pence. In contrast, for the low income groups, none of these three types, however, has consumption beyond 20—hamburgers (14), fish and chips (18), and pizza (8).

According to the line chart, the consumption of hamburgers saw a gradually increase from just under 100 to over 500 grams by 1990. Unlike the hamburger trend, consumption of fish and chips in general gradually fell, from 300 to 230 over the same period. In contract, pizza gradually increases gradually from 20 to 170 over the two decades, but consistently remains the least popular option.

Therefore, it is clear to see from the two graphs that the popularity of hamburgers increases greatly in general over the period, and seems to be most popular in particular with higher income people.

News editors decide what to broadcast on television and what to print in newspapers. What factors do you think influence these decisions? Do we become used to bad news? Would it be better if more good news was reported?

It is true that editors have to make difficult decisions about which news stories theybroadcast or publish, and their choices are no doubt influenced by a variety of factors. Inmy opinion, we are exposed to too much bad news, and I would welcome a greateremphasis on good news.

Editors face a range of considerations when deciding what news stories to focus on.Firstly, I imagine that they have to consider whether viewers or readers will be interestedenough to choose their television channel or their newspaper over competing providers.Secondly, news editors have a responsibility to inform the public about important eventsand issues, and they should therefore priorities stories that are in the public interest. Finally, editors are probably under some pressure from the owners who employ them. For example, a newspaper owner might have particular political views that he or she wants topromote.

It seems to me that people do become accustomed to negative news. We are exposed ona daily basis to stories about war, crime, natural disasters and tragic human sufferingaround the world. I believe that such repeated exposure gradually desensitizes people, and we become more cynical about the world and more skeptical that we can do anythingto change it.

I would prefer to see more positive news stories, such as reports of the work of medical staff after a natural disaster, or the kindness of volunteers who help in their communities. This kind of news might inspire us all to lead better lives.

In conclusion, it must be extremely difficult for editors to choose which news stories to present, but I would like to see a more positive approach to this vital public service.

Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the nineteenth century. The map below shows the development of the village.Write a report for a university lecturer describing the development of the village.

[Answer 1]

The map shows the changes and development of Chorleywood village in Great Britain over a period of 126 years from 1868 to 1994.

Chronologically, during the first 15 years from 1868 to 1883, Chorleywood was merely a very small village with one main road to its west. From 1883 to 1922, we see that the village expanded to south, almost tripled the original scale. Besides, a railway line was built across the new area from west to east and there emerged the Chorleywood Station. During 1922-1970, Chorleywood extended both eastward and westward and almost doubled the previous size. Then during 1970-1994, the village accelerated its pace of development eastward and three new areas took shape with a north-south motorway built in 1970 as the axis, with the almost paralleled east-west main road and railway as two dividing lines, cutting this new area into five parts. This new expansion was almost twice the scale of the old village. The Chorleywood Park and a golf course separated the old and new area.

Thus, we see the fast expansion history of this small village across a span of over 100 years.

[Answer 2]

This report is aimed to describe the development of Chrolywood village between 1868 and 1994.

As shown in the map, the village was occupying a very small surface on the right side of a main road between 1868 and 1883. After 1883 the village begun to expand in parallel with the main road on its right and towards south. This type of north to south development continued up to year 1922. In the course of this development stage, in 1909, a railway crossed both the village and the main road and a station was constructed.

After the year 1922, Chrolywood stated to develop alongside the railway towards both east and north-west directions. This phase of expansion continued steadily up to the year 1970, when a motorway was built on the east side of the village. The motorway, as illustrated in the map, is in parallel with the old main road passing across the village.

The motorway was crossing both the railway and another main road located on the north of the village. Between 1970 and 1994 the village developed, infact far from its core, around these two crossings.

Nowadays, an almost considerable area at the heart of the new Chrolywood is allocated to Chrolywood Park and Golf course.

IELTS 1 test 4 writing task 2

The idea of having a single career is becoming an old fashioned one. Thenew fashion mil be to have several careers or ways of earning money and further education will be something that continues throughout life.

[Answer 1]

It is true that change is inevitable. The change is also affecting the work life. There are opinions about career, where some people think that having only one career in a lifetime is an old fashioned one. On the other hand, some people say that having more than one careers or ways to get money and advanced education will sustains throughout life. Regarding to this motion, I have some opinions to argue.

Having one career in entire life is not bad at all. In the past, this thing occurred everywhere. At that time people easily find someone who was only has one career since his young age until his retirement. There were many reasons of why could this thing happened. First, there were only a little number of companies. it was different than the present time when there are much more companies everywhere. Second, the employees were only have one skill, which pushed them

to stay as long as their position at the company. Moreover, it is considerably to say that now , having a single career is an old fashioned one.

On the other hand, having several careers or ways of collecting money will be a new fashion. Situations today are surprisingly different than the past. Now there are much more companies all around the world. It means that there are more jobs and positions available for the employees to apply. More job vacancies mean there are more career choices for employees to choose. As the situations keep continue, people in this case the employees are not worry if they cannot survive in a company. They have many alternative offices to apply. People can see the trends that there are many jobs emerging today that we could not find a few years ago. The trends predicted by career coach will continue in several years to go.

The ways how people can earn money are also increasing time by time by time for example. As the emerging of creative industry keep continue, people with any different backgrounds can get money by maximizing their passion. People can see that an anthropology bachelor provides a photography studio. In addition, further education is also will continue in the future.

In my conclusion, having a several careers or ways to collect money are not a big issue anywhere. There are many evidences in present life that those are popular and become a new fashion.

[Answer 2]

As we are now living in a modern world, it is amazing how life gets busy and people get busier. Doing multiple jobs and having additional education for all walks of life has become the latest trend, while, people with one profession seem to be out of touch in our time. Since many people prefer to earn money by doing various jobs or take further education, regardless of their age and background, they hold the opinion that having one particular work is boring. I believe that working in one chosen career is more beneficial and rewarding.

There is no denying that family, career, education and social life all together could be a case of biting off more than one can chew. Thus, having a single job will balance the time of every aspect of life as well as being more beneficial to everybody. As a result, people have more quality time to spend with family and friends, and most importantly people have more time to relax and enjoy being free from any time pressure and stress. For instance, based on my own experience, I chose to work only during weekends. So, I have enough time for myself, to communicate with my friends and of course more bonding moments with my husband and kids, which I truly love the most.

In addition, mastering one particular job is more rewarding, unlike working in different jobs where confusion and exhaustion are a common dilemma. However, going back to school to pursue an additional qualification is worth doing most especially in achieving a higher position in the near future. But, unfortunately, further education is time and money consuming, most especially for people with limited resources and a young family that needs to be taken care of. Therefore, having a single career in this world which never sleeps is fruitful, because people have more opportunity to excel and to be more efficient at work. Consequently people are bound to be appreciated and rewarded. Take the case of my friend who used to be a teacher. She told me that every time she heard a success story from her former students. She felt nothing but pride because all her effort in teaching certainly paid off.

In conclusion, people having a single career in the fast paced world we live in is logical because it is more rewarding and beneficial. I believe that working in one particular job should be maintained and continued in the future, so, people have a chance to enjoy the most essential parts of life, which are family, friendship and love.

[Answer 3]

In this modern era, there has been a plenty of career opportunities generated as a result of scientific and technological advancement. Consequently, the concept of having a single career option is going to be an outdated one. It is argued that this new trend, where people prefer to work in number of different fields, will definitely enable them to earn not only a regular income, but also empower them to excel in their area of interest.

For some people, multiple career alternatives can serve as a backup in case something goes wrong with their regular job. This may be due to any reason such as job insecurity or recessionary conditions. For instance, a very good friend of mine, who is a software engineer and an avid pianist, lost his job during economic recession in 2011. He survived only because of his musical ability and today he is one of the successful musicians in the city. Thus, it is quite evident that another career would help a person earn his daily bread.

On the other hand, for many people a different career could be a hobby or more than that. This is particularly they prefer to do because they love it and are passionate about it. There are many talented people with excellent academic background often engage themselves in teaching or coaching professions. For example, one of my colleagues teaches to commerce students on weekend. For him this career option is not just an extra income source, but it is his ardor to involve himself in a continuous education process.

In a nutshell, there are multiple aspects of choosing more than one career option. It is anticipated that people would continue to go with this trend to earn a regular or an extra income and to accomplish their hobbies and passion.

You have had a bank account for a few years. Recently you received a letter from the bank stating that your account is $240 overdrawn and that you will be charged $70 which will be taken directly from your account. You know that thisinformation is incorrect.Write a letter to the bank. Explain what has happened and say what you wouldlike them to do about it.

Dear Sir,

I am writing in reply to a letter I received from you a few days ago. In your letter you state that I am $240 overdrawn and that you will be charging me $70.

I would like to point out that the reason I am overdrawn is because of a mistake made by your bank. If you look through your records you will see that I wrote several weeks ago explaining the situation. For the last twelve months, I have been paying $300 a month for a car I bought last summer. The monthly payments were taken directly from my bank account. However, two months ago I sold the car and I wrote to you instructing you to stop paying the monthly instalments. I received a letter from you acknowledging my request, but, for some reason, nothing was done about it. Another $300 instalment has been paid this month and this is the reason why I am overdrawn.

I would like you to contact the garage where I bought the car explaining your error. I would also like you to ask them to return the money.

Yours faithfully,

P Stoft

We are becoming increasingly dependent on computers. They are used in business, hospitals, crime detection and even to fly planes. What things will they be used in the future? Is this dependence on computers a good thing or should we be more suspicious of their benefits?

Today computers are used almost everywhere, it is impossible to imagine our life without PCs, Internet, mobile phones and other computer devices. It is reasonable to think that people look forward to the future of computers. In what field will be computers used for and what role will human has in this world in future?

Besides, computers make our life easier, we can easily get information about any product we plan to buy or place we plan to visit in a second using a personal computer and Internet. Scientists predict that in the nearest future it will be possible to smell a new perfume using the Internet and watch 3D scenes at home like we do in the movie theater. According to forecasts of HR agencies machines will replace jobs of cashiers, and civil and military pilots. Some corporations in Japan are already sellinghousewife-robots, which help old people to keep their homes clean.

Despite the fact that computers help us, they make us dependent. Apparently, people spend more time behind monitors than ever before. And some of them feel a need for more time to be spent with people in live contact. In addition, a breakdown of one of the important modules of a specific computer can entail serious consequences. Suffice to mention the computer problem that occurred in the end of 1990s, a problem related to the coming year 2000 (Y2K) and catastrophes that were predicted. Fortunately imminent disasters did not happen. However, it is difficult to imagine what could be if all the predictions came true.

We live in a technological era, computers penetrated everywhere with all benefits they provide and all dangers they hide. However we are satisfied with them and sometimes we even thank them because they help us in communicating, studying, doing business, entertaining and saving lives in critical situations.

雅思图表作文TASK1精讲精练 A理论部分: 雅思小作文概论 1、文章结构:主要分三部分:i。introductory sentence;ii。body paragraph;iii。Concluding sentence 具体讲:第一段introductory sentence只要写一句话,交待图形(如the line graph, pie chart等等),描述对象(如图表描述的是the number of tourists visiting England),地点(如the US, the UK等)以及时间(如between 1988 and 1997等等);另外要注意的就是第一段不能和图表上方已给的句子太过相似!

The graph below shows the percentage of people unable to find work in three major countries from 1983 to 1992. 题目中划线的单词都能够进行同义转换: graph—figure, show—illustrate, percentage—proportion, major—key, from…to…—between…and…, 第二步:分析时态
