Stars Stars 1. Have you ever met a celebrity/superstar in real life? Yes, I have! But it was quite unintentional. It was about three years ago, my friends and I went to the cinema for the latest movie. When we were waiting outside, suddenly a sharp scream caught my attention. Then I found that there was a large group of people holding posters in their hands and among them was a famous actor. That is how I met a celebrity accidentally. 2. Who is your favourite movie star? I think Tom Cruise is probably the movie star who can attract my attention most. His appearance and acting skills are the most appealing things to me. In the movie series Mission: Impossible, his excellent performance really impressed me. By the way, his latest movie also made me more respectful to him because he did lots of extremely difficult movements although he is almost 60-

Let’s first talk about what you do.OR Let’s move on to something else. Let’s talk about sports. So, DO warm up!

A Gift That You Received I want to talk about a gift I received on Christmas Day when we were exchanging gifts. One of my friends gave me a ceramic young Buddhist monk. I was a little bit surprised to have it because it’s very unlike him. And then he told me the story behind it. He said for this gist he went to a pottery shop which offers a service through which you can make something on your own and take it home at the end of the session. And he made a Buddhist monk for me. The Buddha is beige in color, and about 10 centimeters in height. I can’t say it’s very delicately molded because it’s probably my friend’s third try. I was impressed by the facial expression of the monk. I mean, his eyes are half closed, and there is just an air of calmness which is really contagious. I place this Buddha on my desk, and whenever my work’s not going well or my computer runs very slowly, I would feel a bit anxious, and lose my patience in such situations. Then I look at the ceramic monk and mysteriously I regain my composure. So I like this gift from my friend and I am really grateful for his work.

How do Chinese people spend their holiday? What’s the most popular music in China? For most young people, they like rock or pop music. But for most old people, they like opera or folk music. What’s the most popular sport in China? For most men, they like basketball or football. But for most women, they like table tennis or badminton. Do Chinese people like to celebrate birthday? For children, birthday is everything, and they enjoy celebrating it. But for some adults, they think birthday is just a normal day and don’t like to celebrate it any more. Is teaching a popular job in China?

Q: What other types of relationships, apart from friends and family, are important in people’s lives today? Answer: I think teachers are also important people in our lives. They not only give us knowledge, but guidance when we’re not sure about life as well. When we’re in pain, they give us energy and encouragement; When we’re lost, they provide us a clear direction again. They’re the light house in our lives. Apart from teachers, your colleagues are also indispensable to you. You compete against each other, and much growth can be achieved through such competition. Your professional life is no longer lonely. And what’s more, these people can become your future friends. (94 words) Q: How relationships with neighbors where you live where you live changed in recent years? How? Answer: I didn’t want to see this happen but sadly the relationship between neighbors from where I live changed negatively over the past years. I remember when I was young, all my neighbors were like my family members. We were chatting all the time, we exchange greetings everyday, and we even visit each other home often. At that time, Chinese people lived in dormitory-style buildings. And many families share the same kitchen and same bathroom. So people were very close to each other. But in the past few years, since we’ve moved into an apartment building. We became apart from our neighbors. We hardly ever talk to each other. And we became more indifferent to each other. So, in a sense, modern people are lonely because we’re more isolated than before. (130 words) Q: How important do you think it is for a person to spend some time alone? 构思: spend some quality time with yourself 优质时间 be yourself, no requirement from others 没有别人的要求, 做自己 thinking, summarizing life总结生活
