英语研究性学习课题:英语词汇记忆方法研究

1、初步探讨英语词汇记忆方法。

2、如何应用一些技巧来使我们高效率记住单词。

3、从单词着手来提高英语技能。

词汇量的扩大既包括认识新词的增加,又包括认识旧词新含义的增加。[关键词]

记忆、词汇、方法

1、关于英语单词的记忆。

“联系是记忆的桥梁”。孤立的东西就好比一盘散沙,怎么也抓不住;有联系的东西就好比一根链子,抓住一个环节就可带动其他环节。据统计,使用频率最高的重要英语单词约2000个。以这些单词为基础来推测由此衍生的未知词的结构,找出与未知词的内在联系,您就能发挥出比已知单词多出数倍的词汇能力。而在这2000单词中,又只有600单词最为关键,由其关联着约6 000英语常用词汇。因此,利用星火式记忆法,只要掌握这2000单词中的600单词,就可充分发挥您曾忽视的潜能, 使600单词=6 000单词!

2、英语词汇的记忆方法。

A、构词法:

一)怎样才能利用构词法记忆下列单词?

exhume挖掘;humane仁慈的;humanity人类,人性;humanitarian人道主义者;humanitarianism人道主义;humid潮湿的;inhume埋葬

二)能否用构词法记忆下列单词?

vine藤本植物;fore前面的;hind后面的可分解类词汇试一试,哪种方法记忆效果好? a)构词法词根(1)hum(人)humane仁慈的;humanity人类,人性;humanitarian 人道主义者;humanitarianism人道主义

词根(2)hum(土)exhume挖掘[ex?出];inhume埋葬[in?入]

词根(3)hum(湿)humid湿的;humidity湿度

b)星火法记忆

human这个熟词记起human人→humanity人类,人性humane人道的,仁慈的→humanitarian 人道主义者;humanitarianism人道主义

《圣经》曰:人类的祖先亚当是上帝用“泥”捏成的,human正由此而来,其原义是“泥人”。而泥不正是湿的土吗?这您早已知道,以下怎难记忆?

human泥人→hum (1)土→exhume挖掘;inhume埋葬(2)湿→humid湿的→humidity湿度在可分解词汇的记忆上,星火法克服了用构词法记忆时必须首先强记或死记词根的不足,一环扣一环,由一熟词可速记生词一片不可分解类词汇一比,哪种方法记忆范围广?

B、星火法:

不可分解类词汇无法用构词法进行记忆,然而由于熟词与生词同族而具有词形相近、词义一脉相承的内在联系,因而星火法便可帮助我们由已知通向未知,帮助记忆了用构词法无法记忆的单词。至此可见,在扩大外在词汇量方面,尽管其他记忆法同样可以帮助扩大外在词汇量,但星火法比被公认为“最佳、最快、最省”的构词法还更进一步: 在记忆起点上,星火法比构词法简易,在帮助记忆范围上,星火法比构词法广,在帮助记忆效果上,星火法比构词法好。记忆法、记忆起点、记忆范围、记忆效果、构词法、构词法陌生的词根、构词法可分解类词汇、必须首先强记词根。

C、不可分解类词汇

由熟词帮助记住了词根。另外,我们还在此基础上穿插利用了词汇之间的外在联系(种属关系、同义关系、反义关系等)来帮助记忆。

(一)种属关系如:牛cattle(统称)母牛cow 公牛bull(未阉割)ox(已阉而用于拉车或食用)→小牛calf →牛肉beef

(二)同义关系如:大学英语关于“大”的词immense指大得无法测量:The distance between the earth and the sun is immense.enormous指异常大,大得超出常规:The place is enormous—larger than any building I’ve ever seen. tremendous指大得令人震惊:The light travels at a tremendous speed.

(三)反义关系如:collect(集)←—→divide(分)----collective←—→individualn.集体n.个人,个体a.①集体的②共同的a.①个体的②独特的collectivism←—→individualismn.集体主义n.个人主义,利己主义
