一、Part One: Economics, please answer the following questions (10% each,

30%)

1、Please explain how absolute advantage and comparative advantage differ,

and give an example in which one person has an absolute advantage in doing

something but another person has a comparative advantage.

Answer:

(1) Economics use the term absolute advantage when comparing the productivity

of one person,firm,or nation to that of another. while comparative advantage is

based on the relative opportunity costs of the persons, firms, or nations.Trade can

benefit everyone in society because it allows people to specialise in activities in which

they have a comparative advangtage.

While a person, firm, or nation may have an absolute advantage in producing

every good, they can't have a comparative advantage in every good.

(2) The example : Both A and B are repairmen.

Suppose that A can fix 10 Wheat or 20 clothes one day. While B can fix 15 TV

sets or 25 washing machines one day.

The fixing opportunity of A and B

15 25 Apparently, B has an absolute advantage both in fixing TV sets and in fixing washing machines.

And now, taking opportunity cost into account.

The opportunity cost of fixing Wheat and Clothes Opportunity cost of fixing one:

3 Wheat From the table ,it is easy to see that the B ’s opportunity of fixing clothes is

superior than the A ’s opportunity of fixing clothes. While the A ’s opportunity of fixing

Wheat is superior than the B ’s opportunity of fixing Wheat.

Thus, we can draw a conclusion that A should specialize in fixing Wheat, yet B

specializes in fixing clothes.

2、What are the basic functions of national Five Year Plan?

Answer:

(1) national economy experienced sustained, rapid and sound development, and

overall national strength continued to grow

(2)Economic restructuring was extensively carried forward, and a socialist

market economy was preliminarily established

(3)We opened wider to the outside world, and the pattern of all-round opening

took basic shape.

(4)People's living standards continued to improve, and generally people began to

lead a relatively comfortable life.

(5)The development of science, technology and education was accelerated, and

other social undertakings progressed in a comprehensive way.

(6)Predictive guidance function, namely, the national Five Year Plan not only can

predict the coming direction of nation’s development, but also can guide the market

1、In your opinion, what is the single most important aspect of the definition of management? Why? Which of Mintzberg’s ten managerial roles do you think you are

best equipped to play? Explain.

Answer:

(1)Management is the process of working with and through others to achieve organizational objectives in a changing environment. Central to this process is the

effective and efficient use of limited resources. There are several reasons as follows:

a. An objectives is a target to be strived for and, one hopes, attained. Like individuals, organizations are usually more successful when their activities are guided

by challenging yet achievable objectives.

b. Some complex collective action necessitates systematic management, and organizational objectives give purpose and direction to the management process.

c. Without organizational objectives, the management process, like a trip without

a specific destination, would be aimless and wasteful.

Consequently, achieving organizational objectives can ensures that the corporate

could reasonably and automatically match up the departments to coordinate the pace

of different work, forming a unified whole.

(2)I think I can be best equipped to play the role of Resource allocator. The

allocation of human resources is to fully make use of physical strength, intelligence, knowledge, creativity and skills, and promote human resources and material resources

to achieve a more perfect combination, to maximize the social benefit and economic

benefit. Reasonable allocation of human resources is one of the basic elements of

social vitality. It not only can make the human resource structure of social organization within the reasonable. It can maximize the use, give full scope to the talents, so that each person's intelligence and potential into full play.

2、What is market segmentation all about and how could it be used in a certain business? How can a company encourage brand loyalty and repurchase?

Answer:

(1)Market segmentation is a marketing strategy that involves dividing a broad target market into subsets of consumers who have common needs and priorities, and then designing and implementing strategies to target them.

Market segmentation strategies may be used to identify the target customers, and provide supporting data for positioning to achieve a marketing plan objective. Businesses may develop product differentiation strategies, or an undifferentiated approach, involving specific products or product lines depending on the specific demand and attributes of the target segment.

(2) Brand loyalty is where a person buys products from the same manufacturer repeatedly rather than from other suppliers.Thus, encouraging brand loyalty and repurchase is dramatically for a company. And we can take some measures as follow:

①A frequent flyer program. Frequent flyer scheme is the most direct and effective way to keep customer loyalty, it can not only improve the value of a brand, also can let consumer feel, his loyalty was rewarded.

②Establishing member club. Member club is an effective method to build customer loyalty, like "frequent flyer scheme", to allow customers to truly feel that they are valued. And in contrast, it can let customers have a higher sense of participation.

③Database marketing. In this way, companies can have some details brand regulars, including customers’name, address, occupation. Through the analysis of these data, the introduction of new products and special instructions, company plan to those who may respond to "mail advertising" people. Received the advertising people will feel respected, so as to strengthen the brand loyalty.

3、Try to choose a company, and give an example of vocabulary of Strategic Management.

Answer: Strategic management involves the formulation and implementation of

the major goals and initiatives taken by a company's top management on behalf of owners, based on consideration of resources and an assessment of the internal and external environments in which the organization competes.The example as follow:McDonald’s strategic management.

(1)Strategic priorities: Continued growth, providing exceptional customer care, remaining an efficient and quality producer, offering high value and tasting products, effectively marketing McDonald’s brand on a global scale.

(2)Core elements of McDonald’s strategy. Firstly, McDonald’s set a target to add 2500 restaurants annually and promote frequent customer visits via attractive menu items, low-price specials and Extra Value Meals. Then, McDonald’s are highly selective in granting franchises and located on sites offering convenience to customers and profitable growth potential. Besides, McDonald’s also focus on limited menu and consistent quality, they also have careful attention to store efficiency. What’s more, McDonald’s have great use of Mc prefix and extensive advertising. And McDonald’s hire courteous personnel and pay an equitable wage and provide good training for all employees.

三、Part Three: Business Communication,please answer the following questions: (20% each, 40%)

1、Please name at least FIVE questions that you should ask yourself to identify your employment interests. What information should a candidate gather in preparing for a job interview?

Answer:

(1)Five questions:

a. What do you want to get from the job ,and do you think these are important?

b. Are you clear what you want to do.

c. What’s the worst that will happen if you keep going and don’t reach your goal?

d. Do you have a clear goal,and what did you do for your goal. Have you reach an achievement?

(2) Interviews are one of the most popularly used devices for employee selection. Interviews vary in the extent to which the questions are structured, from totally

unstructured and free-wheeling conversation, to a set list of questions each applicant is asked. And we need make great preparation for our interview.

First, the company's basic situation is important, and position and responsibility of this position and the job requirements.Do some background research to become familiar with the organization. Then, preparing for interview questions and preparing questions for the employers. Besides, you should also check for the company line in case of being late and leave bad impression for interviewers. Last but not least, you must to prepared to have a CV for yourself and dressed clean and tidy.

非英语专业的我如何成为一名翻译 通常一些不太熟悉的人问起大学学什么专业的时候,我一般都会简单的说英语专业。一来我确实有个英语专业的本科文凭,虽然是自考的。并且我又做了多年的英语翻译,水平也不错。另外还有一个很大的原因是这样可以避免过多的解释。其实我大学里学的不是英语专业。作为一个高中时期物理化学成绩很出色的理科生,虽然我也非常喜欢英语和历史、文学,但是在填报大学专业的时候却想都没想就惯性地全选了理工类。不得不说,当时的自己视野非常狭窄,十几年前网络信息还没有这么发达,几本厚厚的专业填报指南在同学手中传来传去,每个专业看上去都神秘而神圣。我当时没有在外上大学的亲友给参谋,父母文化程度也不高,社会经验仅限于所在乡镇最多到县城的小世界,无法给予我额外的指导和启发。而自己在多年强化学习的过程中也从未关注过自己内心的需求,从来没有想过自己真正喜欢什么,未来想要做什么。虽然学习成绩不错,也都是一路被老师和考试推着走过来的。可以说,那个时候心智尚未开启,一切都很懵懂。进入大学以后,视野慢慢变得开阔,接触的人群里有了很多思想比较先进头脑灵活行为独树一帜的人,逐渐受到震撼和启发,自己也开始无意识地寻找自己的个性和定位。后来我强烈地意识到自己以后不想做一辈子科研类的工作,

也不愿意与机器打交道,而是更愿意与人打交道。同时,也认识到英语一直是我的强项,也是我的兴趣所在。但是那个时候已经大三了,换专业已不可能。除非重新参加高考,否则我只能老老实实把本专业课程学好,不然连本科毕业证都拿不到。我不想再浪费几年光阴重新高考,但是又想以后从事英语方面的工作,觉得自己必须得有个学历证明才好找工作。后来听人说有自学考试这个东西,我就很果断地去了当地的自考中心咨询。报考条件没有太多限制,看到有英语这个专业,我当场就报了名,还买回几本专业课的课本。记得那个时候自学考试每年有四次考试时间,上半年下半年各两次。我一次报两个科目,自己买课本和习题自学。不得不说,自己感兴趣的事情做起来就特别有动力。那些纯英文版的《语言学》、《词汇学》、《英语高级语法》、《英美文学》等专业课本,里面很多理论和术语都非常枯燥。但是我不仅一本本啃完了,还做了很多笔记,比老师上课时还认真。当然这些基本都是在课余时间做的,因为本专业的课还要上,有的老师会点名的。有的时候也去英语系蹭课,因为特别珍惜老师授课的机会,所以听得也超级认真。就这样在大学毕业的那年,我把英语专业的所有自考科目都考过了。最后还要写论文并做论文答辩,主题可以是文学作品分析、语言学翻译学理论分析等。我喜欢文学,但因为一些传统的经典作品都有很多人写过,很难写出新意。我就选了诺贝尔文学奖获得
