Unit3 What Are You Going To Do?

A、Let`s try Let`s learn

Teaching aims:

1、To enable the students to master the four skills sentences: What are you going to don on the

weekend? I`m going to visit my grandparents this weekend.

2、To enable the students finish the exercises of Let`s try.

Teaching important points and difficulties:

1、To enable the students to use the sentence pattern of “be going to …”to describe

themselves plans and communicate that with others fluently.

2、To enable the students to master the four skills sentences as : What are you going to do on

the weekend? I`m going to visit my grandparents this weekend.

Teaching aids:

The multi-media player

1、Warm-up

Show a magic cube which has verb phrases,time phrases and places on each side., throw the magic cube and have students make dialogues by the phrases on it as following: Ss: What are you going to do …?

S1: I`m going to …

2、Preview

T: The National Day is coming. I have a friend in Shanghai. What is she going to do? Let`s listen to the tape and find out .

Have students listen to the tape recorder for three times and finish the exercises themselves. Then ask :①Where is she going? ②How is she going there? ③What is she going to buy?

Show the sentences by media-player.

3、Presentation

Let`s talk

①T: OK, my friend is going to Beijing on National Day, so what are you going to do this

afternoon/ next week/ tomorrow?

Show some pictures of places and have students answer the question by the places on the pictures as “ I`m going to the theme park / the Great Wall / the zoo this afternoon/ next week /tomorrow.

Teach students how to read “theme park”“the Great Wall” ,and explain them.

③ Show a map with some places on it and make dialogues with students as following:

T: What are you going to do on the weekend?

S1: I`m going to …

T: Is it far?

S1: Yes.

T: So how are you going to get there?

S1: I`m going by…

To teach students answer the question by the sentence of “I`m going by…”

④T: OK, now I know the plans of someone of you. So what is John going to do on the

weekend, and how is he going there? Listen.

Play the recorder of Let`s talk, have students try to read the dialogue for the second time, then practice it in roles and read the dialogue in class.

⑤T: Suppose you are walking on the road, and you meet your partner, you want to know

what your partner is going to do on the weekend, so what will you say? Now, let`s make a new dialogue according to the dialogue of Let`s talk, show it in class for competition. I will record the scores and judge the best group. Are you ready? Go.

Choose the best group after the conversation, give them some rewards.

⑥Game : Mary, Mary, what are you going to do?

Explain the rules of this game to students briefly, then play this game.

4、Summary

To summarize this class by showing the pictures on the media-player.

5、Homework

①Have students practice the dialogue in their daily life;

②Write the four skills words on their exercise books.
