After China joins the World Trade Organization, average Chinese consumers will start to find more choices in their shops, including many new items from overseas. But, will they buy them? It isn't something that can be taken for granted.

As far as the pay rise of public servants is concerned, there are two contrasting views. Supporters maintain that increasing the salary of public servants can stimulate consumption and economic growth, and contribute to keeping public servants honest.

反对者们则认为，与公务员相比，下岗人员的收入更低，很多人生活困难。工资的提升将进一步拉大这两个群体之间的收入差距。

Opponents argue that, compared with public servants, laid-off employees have an even lower income and many live in difficult conditions. The wage increase will further widen the income gap between the two groups.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only international organization dealing with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible.

世界贸易组织是唯一制定国家之间贸易规则的国际性组织。它的主要功能就是保证国际贸易能够平稳、顺利的进行。The result is also a more prosperous, peaceful and accountable economic world. Trade friction is channeled into the WTO's dispute settlement process where the focus is on interpreting agreements and commitments, and how to ensure that countries' trade policies conform with them.

英语口译学习心得 我的日子滴在时间的流里，没有声音，也没有影子。转眼间一个学期就这样匆匆过去，让我恋恋不舍。在期末的时候写一份总结，回顾这几个月学习，甚是有幸。 首先，明确自己学习口译的目的。我记得 The Seven Habits of Successful Person 一书中有一句 With ends in mind，以始为终，我非常喜欢。学习口译首先要问清自己为什么学，对于我来说一方面是兴趣使然，另一方面是今后谋生手段，所以选择这个专业。如果真正弄清楚了意义，那么就会努力去学习，在困难的过程中不断实现自我激励，才会有可能成功做成事情。 其次，对于学习来说，没有放之四海而皆准的规则，英语口译更如是。通过跟着老师学习，上网查阅资料，阅读一些翻译书籍，向翻译前辈请教，与同学们交流，我觉得口译学习更多的是要找到适合自己的方法。以自己现有的实力为基础，查缺补漏，吸取他人之长，结合自己的兴趣，统筹安排时间，制定出学习计划，按部就班地提高口译水平。 谈到具体的学习方法，我觉得首先要选好与自己水平相适应的书籍来做练习，在学校上完课自己还要做一个单元的配套练习，增加自信的同时提高英汉互译水平。这是一个艰巨的目标，需要坚定的自制能力，不过效果是显著的。另外，增加单词的积累也是非常重要的。我在做翻译练习的过程中发现有很多中国特色词汇，习语谚语等，这就需要大量记忆。做口译练习的时候自己也常常总结一些经验，发现会议口译是有规可循的，把握规律，然后反复练习、记忆最终达到脱口而出的效果。还有让我受益良多的就是扩大自己的知识面。增大自己的阅读量，每天手机上网读些中文的材料，政治财经地理历史军事等都要阅读；我还订阅economist这个杂志，锻炼自己用英文获取信息的能力，了解西方主流媒体对世界热点问题的舆论态度，以及全球政治经济走向。这对自己今后从事翻译工作奠定了夯实的基础。 除了正确的方法，还有一样东西也很重要，持之以恒的精神。这听起来像是大白话，但真理往往是很朴素的。通过这次的英语口译学习，我更加认识到语言的学习是一个循序渐进的过程，在平时的学习中一定要贯彻持之以恒的思想意识，想在短时间内突击取得什么成绩的想法基本就是白日梦。课堂上老师讲的都是方法性、启发性的东西，是引领你学习方向的一些指导思想，如果不能通过持之以恒的实践将这些指导思想内化为自己的营养，进步也不会太大的。语言是文化的近亲，要想学好永远都不够，这是一个需要终身学习的东西，当学到一定的阶段的时候会发现学习没有止境、乐趣也是无穷的。 最后，特别庆幸自己报了选择了这个专业，有万老师给予我们建设性的指导和建议，让我少走了很多弯路，口译水平也提高了许多。这个学期没有虚度，甚是开心。
