In particular, since the exchange visits between your Prime Minister and our Premier, our cooperation in offshore oil exploration and automobile industry has been advancing rapidly. China experienced a period of impoverishment and debility, and was actually at the mercy of foreign invaders in China’s modern history. That lagging behind is undoubtedly to be attacked is the never forgotten lesson that we Chinese people got from the tragic experience of repeated foreign invasions. A country must be strong enough so it can find its own place in the world. Over the past 100 years, we Chinese people have made great efforts to rejuvenate the Chinese nation. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, through self-reliance, reforming and opening up to the outside world, keeping pace with times, we have gained great achievements in the socialist construction, which have attracted the world-wide attention. Currently, Chinese people persist in the primary task of development and the policy of that development is of overwhelming importance, and being full of confidence, we are working together to build China into a moderately prosperous society in all aspects ad realize its full modernization.

However, we must be fully aware of the fact that China is still a developing country, our social productivity is relatively low,and we are still at the primary stage of socialism and it will remain so for a long period of time;we need decades of great efforts to build China a moderately prosperous society and rejuvenate the Chinese nation.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is our common wish to seek long-lasting world peace and prosperity of global economy.
