When Jamie Edwards said he wanted to build a nuclear fusion reactor (核聚变反应堆), his friends thought he was crazy.

But the student from the Priory Academy in Lancashire, UK, wasn ’t joking. On March 4, he became the

youngest person in the world to build a nuclear fusion reactor – with a handmade device (装置) in his school. He did it just five days before his 14th birthday. “It is quite a great success,” Edwards said. “I can ’t quite believe it!”
