一、考试性质和目的

《英语翻译基础》作为全日制MTI入学考试的专业基础课考试，旨在测试考生的基本翻译能力，考察考生的基本语言能力和英汉互译实践能力是否具有MIT课程学习和论文写作的潜质。

二、考试基本要求

1. 具备一定中外文化，以及政治、经济、法律、社会和科技等方面的基础知识。

2. 具备扎实的英汉双语基本功和较强的理解和表达能力。

3. 具备较强的英汉、汉英互译能力和一定的翻译速度。

三、考试形式和内容

本考试采取客观试题与主观试题相结合、单项技能测试与综合技能测试相结合的方法，包括常用词语翻译、单句翻译和段落翻译以及译文评判三个部分，满分为150分，考试时间180分钟（详见附表）。

I. 词语翻译

1. 要求

准确翻译常见中英文词语。

题型

15个汉语和15个英语术语、缩略语或专有名词分别译成英语和汉语。

II. 译文评判

1. 要求

要求考生具有对译文作出对错判断的能力。

2. 题型

本部分试题共有10个英语句子及其中文译文，要求考生判断译文对错，并将其中认为错误的译文加以改正。

III. 单句和段落翻译

1. 要求

要求考生具备英汉互译的基本技巧和能力；初步了解中国和英语国家的社会、文化等背景知识；译文忠实原文，无明显误译、漏译；译文通顺，用词正确，无明显语法错误；英译汉速度每小时约250－300个英文单词，汉译英速度每小时约250－300个汉字。

题型

本部分试题分为两节，第一节为英译汉，要求考生将5个独立的英语句子和一篇英文短文或短文中的划线部分译成中文；第二节为汉译英，要求考生将5个独立的中文句子和一篇中文短文或短文中的划线部分译成英文，总翻译量英译汉为200-250个单词，汉译英为200-250个汉字。
