剑IV/G类TestB/2

题目:On Receipt of your deposit, Wessex Cottages will confirm your booking by telephone.

原文:When we receive your booking form and deposit, your reservation will be confirmed -- we will send you a Booking Confirmation, together with advice on how to reach your holiday cottage and the telephone number of a local contact should you require further details on the cottage before leaving home.

IV/Test 2/12

题目:National Governments could do more to protect endangered languages.

原文:Quite often, governments try to kill off a minority language.

(剑V/TEST1/26)

题目:Milgram’s experiment solves an important question in sociobiology.

1.From paragraph 4 we can infer that. / What can be inferred from the passage? / From the last paragraph we can infer that . 2.We can infer from the text that…/ What can we learn from…? / We can conclude from the passage that… 3.The last sentence of the first paragraph most probably implies that. 4.The author implies that by the year 2080, . 5.To solve the present social problems the author suggests that we should. 6.The author mentions the fact that…to show. 7. This passage would most likely be found in _________? 8.The author’s attitude toward …is _________? 9. The tone of the passage can best be described as _________?

2019届高考英语二轮复习阅读理解推理判断题专练(三)观点态度 类 (2017·河南、河北七所名校联考) When it comes to writing work emails, there are many rules to follow. In the past, people always wanted to come across as someone who's calm and professional, which workplace manners experts say means they wanted to hold back their love for emoticons (表情符号) while on the job. But language is always changing, and a recent national survey in the US found that 76 percent of Americans said that they had used emoticons in digital communication at work. The most popular emoticon is the happy face. Lindsey Pollak, a US career coach who works with Millennials (千禧一代), has also noticed that emoticons have gone from being inappropriate for the workplace to being accepted. The reason behind this, according to her, is largely due to the changing of people in a particular age group of the workforce. Millennials are now the biggest generation in the American workforce. “A few years ago, emoticons were absolutely seen as very young and very personal,” Pollak said. “Over the past few years... I've seen emoticons become more acceptable. I see them more frequently not just from Millennials but from all generations at the workplace.” “People tend to use emoticons to just add that little bit of extra change in the tone when there's something awkward or potentially offensive, or when they might take in things in the wrong way,” explains Lauren Collister, a sociolinguist. In life and work, many of us have used emoticons to send positive atmosphere or soften statements. Pollak, however, warns against being too casual at work. Her advice is to be aware of who the audience is. “Frankly, I wouldn't use a happy face with any CEO in the US. I wouldn't use a happy face with the people of a certain level no matter how commonplace and acceptable it has become,” she said. “You can make or break a relationship with one email these days.” 1.What does the author say about past working people? A.They were calm and professional. B.They used more serious emoticons.

The parents of top athletes have often been successful athletes themselves。 定位词是The parents of athletes,考点词是successful athletes,在题干中作表语。 2. Not all of the assistants survived to see the publication of the Dictionary。 Johnson has become more well known since his death。 定位词是since his death,考点就是more well known。 4.

{温馨提示} Yes”,“No”,“Not Given”和“True”,“False”,“Not Given”只是考试形式的区别,在判断方式上并没有本质不同。 Computers are gaining in popularity, despite their cost. 题目:Computers are more popular than they used to be. The majority of lecturers find their jobs very rewarding. 题目:Many lecturers get satisfaction from their work. 解答:TRUE rewarding来自reward,表示“有意义的工作”,即get satisfaction; 而原文的the majority of(绝大部分)完全能够包含题目的many(很多)。 Frogs are losing the ecological battle for survival, and biologists are at a loss to explain their demise. 题目:Biologists are unable to explain why frogs are dying. 解答:TRUE 题目中的are unable to与原文中的are at loss to是同义词,题

其中True/False/Not Given 多见于General Training Module, Yes/No/Not Given 则多见于Academic Module, 因为Yes/No/Not Given最初是为学术类设计的。 1:It rained heavily everywhere in North China. Q: It rained in Beijing. 例2. Many people believe that the IELTS candidates must attend an IELTS training course before sitting the test. Q: The author believes that the IELTS candidates should attend an IELTS training course before sitting the test. 1. It rained heavily everywhere in North China. Q: It rained in Beijing. 2. By trying to do a better job of teaching, computer scientists may learn quite a lot themselves. Q: Computer scientists are likely to learn a lot from teaching. You can go to Shanghai by train or by plane. Q: You must fly to Shanghai. It rained heavily in most areas in North China. Q: It rained in Shanghai. 或It rained in Beijing. You can go to Shanghai by train or by plane. Q: You must fly to Shanghai. You can go to Shanghai by plane. Q: You must fly to Shanghai. You can go to Shanghai by train or by plane.

在这种情况下,答案的选择是“YES”“NO”或者是“NOT GIVEN”。 这里要特别说明的是在考试中“YES”“NO”“NOT GIVEN”和“TRUE”“FALSE”“NOT GIVEN”只是考试形式的区别,在判断方式上并没有本质区别。 Academic Test 1 Reading Passage 1 3.题干:It has been suggested that children hold mistaken views about the "pure" science that they study at school. 原文:Many studies have shown that children harbour misconceptions about "pure" science, curriculum science.

(A) A typical lion tamer(驯兽师)in people’s mind is an entertainer holding a whip( 鞭) at a chair. The whip gets all of the attention, but it’s mostly for show. In reality, it’ the chair that does the important work. When a lio n tamer holds a chair n front of the lion’s face, the lion tries to focus on all four legs of the chair at the same time. With its focus divided, the lion becomes confused and is unsure about what to do next. When faced with so many options, the lion chooses to freeze and wait instead of attacking the man holding the chair. How often do you find yourself in the same position as the lion How often do you have something you want to achieve . lose weight, start a business, travel more)—only to end up confused by all of the options in front of you and never make progress This upsets me to no end because while all the experts are busy debating about which option is best, the people who want to improve their lives are left confused by all of the conflicting information. The end result is that we feel like we can’t focus or that we’re focused on the wrong things, and so we take less action, make less progress, and stay the same when we could be improving. It doesn’t have to be that way. Anytime you find the world waving a chair in your face, remember this: All you need to do is focus on one thing. You just need to get started. Starting before you feel ready is one of the habits of successful people. If you have somewhere you want to go, somethin g you want to accomplish, someone you want to become…take immediate action. If you’re clear about where you want to go, the rest of the world will either help you get there or get out of the way. 1. Why does the lion tamer use a chair A. To trick the lion. B. To show off his skills. C. To get ready for a fight. D. To entertain the audience. 2. What is the author’s attitude towards the expert mentioned in Paragraph3 A. Tolerant. B. Doubtful. C. Respectful. D. Supportive. 3. When the world is “ waving a chair in your face”, you’re advised to _____ A. wait for a better chance B. break your old habits C. make a quick decision D. ask for clear guidance

Coastal erosion occurred along Egypt‘s Mediterranean coast before the building of t he Aswan dams. The fertile land of the Nile delta is being eroded along Egypt‘s Mediterranean coast at on astounding rate,in some parts estimated at 100 metres per year. In the past, land scoured away from the coastline by the currents of the Mediterranean Sea used to be replaced by sediment brought down to the delta by the River Mile, but this is no longer happening. Air Traffic Control started after the Grand Canyon crash in 1956.
