Describe a kind of food people eat during a special event
You should say:
What it is
What event people usually eat it
How it is cooked/made
Explain why it is for the special event
1. 此题为17年part 2 老题describe a kind of foreign food you had before的一个变化题型,依旧是雅思口语考题中比较高频而常见的食物话题。
(Zongzi, a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice ),生日蛋糕或是圣诞节的Mulled Wine, Turkey, gingerbread。
A kind of food which is eaten during a special event must be Xizhoubaba, which is kind of combination of pancake and pizza.
It is a must-take delicacy that Bai People, a typical ethnic group in China, take in their traditional Spring Festival. It’s a traditional Chinese festival which occurs on the 30th of December of the lunar calendar. On that day, they usually first have a big family dinner, and then they sit outside the house and enjoy X with different fillings, and various kinds of fresh fruits and local snacks.
As for the steps of cooking, it’s not very complicated. First, the yeast, warm water, sugar, salt and lard are mixed well in a bowl, then the dough is kneaded for 3 to 4 minutes on the chopping board. When it is ready, some spring onions, meat, green peppers and salt are sprinkled over the top and it should be cooked in the oven for about 20minutes. When it is done, you can enjoy the appetizing pancake.
As for the reason why it’s for the special event, I guess it’s mainly because of its round shape, which really carries positive meaning, in Chinese’s culture, roundness symbolizes family reunion that gathering together is a big deal here. No matter where you are, with or not with your families, on this day, you could just have a bite of X, the taste would be a spiritual comfort to heal your homesickness.
Why do some people grow their own food these days ?
Nowadays more and more people tend to grow food by themselves mainly because they have realized the drawbacks of purchasing food from supermarkets. Normally the ingredients bought in grocery store or supermarkets are far from fresh or less organic, let alone the nutrition value. But supposing that when people are eating food grown by themselves, not only will them have a sense of achievement but also will get rid of the risks of having genetic modified food. In a long term, growing food in person would be an unstoppable trend.
What kinds of food are good for a party ?
I think it depends on the theme of the party. When it comes to birthday party or farewell party where people have to spend a lot of time eating by the table and catching up, some meat , salad, various desserts can’t be ignored. But when it comes to costume party or beach party where participants need to frequently walk around or dance or swim, they probably won’t want to eat anything heavy, under such a circumstance, maybe some light snacks like potato chips or nuts will be good enough.
Do you think people should eat every meal with their family ?
For the majority of people, having a meal on a daily basis with family is a luxury since it is really hard for us to squeeze time to get together with family members without the time occupied by heavy workloads or being distracted by mobile phones. For most of us, it’s not important what we eat, but it’s more important that we can completely unwind and escape the reality for a short while, enjoying family quality time. Despite the difficulty, I think everyone should try every means to have two or three meals with families each week since this can strengthen our family bonds and create harmonious domestic atmosphere.

Public Holiday
Part 1
题目:
1. How many public holidays do you have in China?
2. Do you think people need more public holidays?
3. How do you usually spend your holidays?
4. Which holiday is your favorite?
惯,比如补觉,一般说get more sleep而不是 sleep more。
1. How many public holidays do you have in China?
We enjoy 7 public breaks a year. We have just celebrated Chinese new year,The year of the Pig, and we are about to celebrate Lantern Festival. But for students, they have two more holidays. summer break and winter break.

3. How do you usually spend your holidays?
If I have a holiday in winter, I may just stay at home, read more and get more sleep, spend more time being with my family. In summer, I may go for a trip or play some sports, like swimming and hiking.

Handwriting
Part 1
题目:
1. Do you often write with a pen?
2. Is your handwriting easy to read for other people?
3. Do you like to receive cards with hand-written words?
4. Can we tell someone’s personality from his or her handwriting?
5. What’s the difference of writing with a pen and typing on a computer?
第三题read这个动词需要注意,书写能够被看懂就是can be read 或者是handwriting is legible。
第四题一定要注意like doing 和like to do的用法。
1. Do you often write with a pen?
I write with a pen basically every day because I’m still a student, our homework has to be submitted in written form, so I write a lot. But sometimes, I type as well if I send a email or chat to friends online.
2. Is your handwriting easy to read for other people ?
I think others can read clearly of my handwriting, my handwriting is quite legible. But it is not very legible if I’m writing Chinese in cursive style.
3. Do you like to receive cards with hand-written words?
Yeah, I like to receive cards with hand written words. I have received a card with handwritten words from my friends on my birthday, and I thought it was a really great gift.
4. Can we tell someone’s personality from his or her handwriting?
I think it will be really difficult to predict a person’s personality trait by just looking at his handwriting, but if a person practice the art of calligraphy, he may show a bit of artistic personality.
5. What’s the difference of writing with a pen and typing on a computer?
It is a lot quicker to type on a computer, and computer spots typos and correct that for you, but writing with a pen is the only way to develop quality penmanship. So, I think modern people should develop both skills.
the art of calligraphy 书法

A. Learning theory is rooted in the work of Ivan Pavlov, the famous
scientist who discovered and documented the principles governing how
animals (humans included) learn in the 1900s. Two basic kinds of learning conditioning occur, one of which is famously known as the classical condition. Classical condition happens when an animal learns to associate a neutral stimulus(signal)with a stimulus that based on how closely in time the two stimuli are presented. The classic example of classical conditioning is a dog’s
ability to associate the sound of a bell(something that originally has no meaning to the dog)with the presentation of food(something that has a lot of meaning for the dog)a few moments later. Dogs are able to learn the association between bell and food, and will salivate immediately after hearing the bell once this connection has been made. Years of learning research have led to the creation of a highly precise learning theory that can be used to
understand and predict how and under what circumstances most any animal
will learn, including human beings, and eventually help people figure out how to change their behaviors.
B. Role models are a popular notion for guiding child development, but in recent years very interesting research has been done on learning by example
in other animals. If the subject of animal learning is taught very much in terms of classical or operant conditioning, it places too much emphasis on how we allow animals to learn and not enough on how they are equipped to learn. To teach a course of mine I have been dipping profitably into a very interesting and accessible compilation of papers on social learning in mammals,
including chimps and human children, edited by Heyes and Galef.
C. The research reported in one paper started with a school field trip to Israel to a pine forest where many pine cones were discovered, stripped to
the central core. So the investigation started with no weighty theoretical intent, but was directed at finding out what was eating the nutritious pine seeds and how they managed to get them out of the cones. The culprit proved to be the versatile and athletic black rat (Rattus rattus) and the technique was to bite each cone scale off at its base, in sequence from base to tip following the spiral growth pattern of the cone.
D. Urban black rats were found to lack the skill and were unable to learn
it even if housed with experiences cone strippers. However, infants of urban mothers cross fostered to stripper mothers acquired the skill, whereas infants of stripper mothers fostered by an urban mother could not. Clearly the skill had to be learned from the mother. Further elegant experiments showed that naive adults could develop the skill if they were provided with cones from which the first complete spiral of scales had been removed, rather like our new photocopier which you can word out how to use once someone has
shown you how to switch it on. In case of rats, the youngsters take cones
away from the mother when she is still feeding on them, allowing them to acquire the| complete stripping skill.
E. A good example of adaptive bearing we might conclude, but let’s see
the economies. This was determined by measuring oxygen uptake of a rat stripping a cone in a metabolic chamber to calculate energetic cost and comparing it with the benefit of the pine seeds measured by calorimeter. The cost proved to be less than 10% of the energetic value of the cone. An acceptable profit margin.
F. A paper in 1996 Animal Behavior by Bednekoff and Balda provides a
different view of the adaptiveness of social learning. It concerns the seed catching behavior of Clark’s nutcracker(Nucifraga Columbiana)…

Describe a time you enjoyed a free day off work or school.
You should say:
when it was
where you were
what you did
how long the free time lasted
and explain how you felt about it.
Part 2

2. 题目问的是“enjoyed”,所以在回答时需要注意过去时态的使用;
It was during the New Year’s time not long ago when I enjoyed a free day off school.
I began my day late, which meant that I got up really late in the day. In the usual days, I needed to get up early to attend my classes which usually began at 8.00 am and thus I needed to reach there before the class hour. Therefore I chose to stay in bed on my free day off for a little longer than usual before getting up.
Then I got up at about 10am and enjoyed a really hearty breakfast, which seemed to be a luxury during my usual busy schedule. When I had classes in the mornings, I would grab something to eat on the go so I decided to sit down and enjoy some nice foods and a cup of tasty coffee to kick start my free day.
After finishing my breakfast, I went to the Xiaoyushan Park where I could find some serenity. The park was situated on top of a hill by the beach so I sat there, looked at the city and thought about my 2018, which just passed. Then, I went to a cat cafe nearby so that I could cuddle and stroke some cats while I enjoyed my lunch. I had always wanted to keep a cat as a pet however I still lived in the school accommodation where we were not allowed to keep a pet. By chilling out with the cats in the cafe, I felt that all the confusion and annoyance from my study flew away. I stayed in the cafe until dust, when I walked to the beach down the hill. The beach provided a very nice view and actually, I was fond of enjoying the sunset on a beach. So I picked a spot and sat down, watched the sun disappear and left the beach after it was totally dark. I took a bus back to my dorm, took a hot bath and ended my free day by enjoying some TV programmes before going to sleep.
I found my free day off quite healing. My regular days were extremely intolerable because as a student of undergraduate, I needed to remain busy round the day. I had to participate in multiple activities related to my academic studies while sparing some time for extracurricular stuff such as being involved in the Students’Union. Therefore, when I had the free day off, I didn’t want to set an agenda for it. I just wanted to take the time to really relax and refresh and in fact, I did feel emotionally and physically ready for new challenges ahead after my one day off.

I would say no to this question. To me all children are independent individuals who should be empowered to plan their own time. Besides, by making plans of their time, children can achieve the ability of time management which will be beneficial to them in the long run.
