为什么中国学生写不出英语好作文？

在教材编排和实际教学安排中，存在一种“蛇尾”现象。在在现行的中学英语教材中，写作内容是依据各单元的话题，散插在每个单元的最后一课，往往被视为对话、阅读教材的附庸部分。这种安排本身就导致写作内容的支离破碎，缺乏系统的框架。教师似乎很难窥其全貌，更不用说学生了。郑树棠先生也曾指出，英语教材中的微技能部分，如写作技巧，“编写得不尽科学，有许多值得商榷之处”。另外，在实际的教学中也存在着“蛇尾”现象，绝大多数课时都被用于讲授语言点、语法等内容，写作练习常常是在要下课时被一带而过，布置为课后作业，而且也很少有学生在课后认真地按要求去完成。

高考英语书面表达没有起到预期的良好导向作用。首先，高考测试形式的缺乏多样性。不少省份的《考试说明》把高考英语作文定义为100字左右的“情景表达”。由于提供情景的形式不外乎于图画、图表、提纲、短文等，多年考下来，高考书面表达题形式雷同的现象很严重，没有质的突破和飞跃。高考英语命题人员考虑到中国学生的英语表达水平有限，就对作文的内容、人称、时态、文体、字数等方面做了有关限制。这些束缚思维的限制，圈定了学生自由发挥的空间。不过，这几年高考英语作文命题正在悄悄地在改变。其次，高考测试内容的片面性。目前高考书面表达的命题中存在着一个不可忽视的问题就是题材较偏，不具有普遍性。有些省市的高考英语作文题就对农村及边远地区的考生就十分不利。

再者，高考英语作文阅卷评分的不可靠性。一方面高考书面表达的评分标准本身常不详尽，常带有较强的命题人的主观色彩，再加上评分的人常有不同的看法，故导致有一些问题往往难以取得一致认可；另一方面由于作文阅卷时间紧任务重，不少阅卷老师没有足够的时间和精力去认真研究考生的作文，甚至是秒杀，打出一个中庸的分数，既保证自己不被仲裁，也准时保量完成阅卷任务。

教中学英语教师在写作教学方面缺乏科学、系统的理论指导。目前，有关英语写作方面的教材大多面向高等英语教育，严重缺乏基于中学英语作文特点的理论研究资料和教材。即使有一些面向中学生的也存在许多问题。如：⑴写作材料的形式单一，内容陈旧，难易程度不一；⑵过于强调遣词造句，而忽视语篇能力的培养；等等。因此，大多数中学英语教师在作文教学中都是在“摸着石头过河”，随机性较大。

教学者策略不当，也不利于英语作文教学，主要体现在：未能基于写作本身的特性和学生写作能力的现状，设置一套完整的、系统的和科学的写作教学计划。而是遇到什么就让学生写什么；没有注意到写作也是一种认知活动，往往不能正确、科学地引导学生对作文时的

各个要素进行分析、讨论；未能把学生的写作视为一种交际活动。如在批改时，只注重订正学生的语法错误，而没有从语篇层次上看是否“言之有物”，是否达到交流思想的目的，等等。

学习者策略对写作教学的影响也不可忽视。部分学生（尤其农村中学的学生）对英语表达有畏惧心理，视之为“难之最”，害怕写不好；也有不少学生认为高考英语作文题是“下得了手却得拿不到高分”的试题，则不予以重视；误以为写作水平的提高无非在于多写几篇而已，没有用英语记日记、笔记的习惯；写作时常常是中文构思，再译成英文，很少找范文进行仿写，也不注意对自己写成的作文进行修改；在老师批改之后，不注意思考老师为何对自己的作文作某种修改和评注，也不能主动反思并调整自己的写作方法。

此外，学生缺乏对目的语语篇模式的了解，对写作教学也造成了影响。按照Robert Kaplan的调查和分析，中国人的思维模式不同于被使用广泛的“直线型”的英语语篇思维模式，而是属于螺旋型，也就是学生作书面表达时，往往不是从主题入手，却倾向于采用意合法衔接手段，先围绕主题外围阐述评论，然后再以反复又发展的螺旋型形式对某一思想加以展开。故导致中国学生英语作文语篇水平上存在着两大缺陷：即“重点不突出”和“缺乏连贯性”。例如：’有一年书面表达让考生写一篇参观一个农场的日记，很少有考生在开篇时写“Today we visited a farm.”类似的开篇交代句，以至使文章读起来很突兀，不自然；也有不少考生不能抓住要点，东拉西扯，节外生枝的东西太多，以至表达重点不特出，不切题意。

正像整个语言学习过程一样，英语写作是一个十分复杂的社会和心理活动。因此，导致高中英语书面表达能力滞后的因素可谓多种多样，要彻底改变这一落后面貌，还需要广大英语教师设法加强平时的英语写作教学,并使之与实践相结合；另外，我们也要进一步改进和完善高考英语书面表达的测试方法和评估目标体系。如：题型设置的灵活化，包括写作形式、体裁等的多样化；作文的计分方式及分值的调整，等等。

总体来说，近几年的高考英语作文命题体现了开放性作文的大方向，主题力求贴近学生的生活实际，贴近时代的脉搏；提示信息越来越少，提示方式越来越灵活，发挥的空间也越来越大，不但让考生易于动笔，乐于表达，而且要说出真情实感。
