Thomas Jefferson told us that “every citizen is entitled to his right, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. But what is happiness and how can we get it? Will we be happy if we accumulate great wealth and win fine prestige?

There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes.Similarly, different people may have different definition for the concept of happiness. However, one thing that we can all agree on is that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more. Whitney Houston is a renowned American singer with amazing talent, whose beautiful voice has brought her so many awards and great wealth. But apparently she is not happy because she has fallen prey to drugs and ruined her splendid career herself. I n contrast, Lei Feng, the good man from China, who led a much more difficult life even than the ordinary people today does, felt happy about his life because he dedicated most of his life to helping others.

Happiness is a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction; it does not necessarily connect with wealth and fame. You feel happy only when you are willing to help others by giving what you have; because that’s the only way you see your personal value realised and feel proud of yourself.

Imagination

Mathematicians won the World War; Mathematicians broke the Japanese codes and built the A-bomb. To triumph and get results, we need people with logic like mathematicians. But to explore the unknown world and achieve broader success, we need imagination.

Without imagination, knowledge is finite and is like bird confined in the cage. It is imagination that unlocks the cage and gives the bird a chance to go free. Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Although there are many people who are far more knowledgeable than Einstein, by far, no one can be paralleled with the great inventor in terms of creativity and achievement. The impact of this great physicist’s imagination on the future of mankind is totally incredible.

Therefore, as dominator of the world, we humans shall stay curious and never overlook the importance of imagination, which is a distinctive feature that separates us from other animals.
