Whether pronunciation needs special attention or focus in language teaching depends on many factors, especially learner factors.

语言教学中是否需要特别关注语音取决于许多因素,尤其是学习者因素。

Factors that determine whether students need to focus on pronunciation:

①Similarities of sound system between the native language and the target

language.

本族语音系统与目的语音系统的相似程度;

②Learners’learning context—Learners’exposure to English.

③Learners’age—Adults are more likely to substitute English sounds with

Great care should be taken to the distinction between pronunciation and phonetics. Stress and intonation are as important as the sounds themselves and should be taught from the very beginning.

Actually pronunciation is an umbrella term covering many aspects besides sounds and phonetic symbols, such as stress, intonation, and rhythm, these aspects are interrelated.
