The levitating Lightbulb

The US artist and scientist Simon Morris got the idea of making lightbulb float from hoverboards(悬浮滑板).But the floating is not the most amazing part.It was done simply by putting magnets in the bottom of the bulb and in the wooden base. The rejection force between the opposite ends of the magnets does the job.

What's new here is a technology called induction(电磁感应).It allows the ligtbulb to get power from the base even when they aren't in contact.

Shoes that tie themselves

They're not what you think﹣shoelaces that tie themselves in the way we tie them.Instead, the new shoes have small motors that control their laces. When you step in them, your feet will hit a sensor in the shoes and the motor will automatically tighten the laces. There are also two buttons on side of the shoes to tighten and loosen them so you can control the laces by yourself. They could actually give athletes an advantage during competitions. They are also useful for people who cannot move their arms or fingers easily.

The no﹣touch thermometer

Maybe,it's an impossible task for little kids putting a thermometer in their armpits and staying still for minutes.

Now,using infrared(红外线) technology, scientists have invented thermometers that take the body's temperature without contacting the body.Users can simply put the thermometer 2.5 centimeters form a patient's forehead and press the button, and it can get the reading in two seconds.

Not touching the body also means cleaner processes, since patients needn't worry about whether someone else has used the thermometer before.

28."Freelance retail consultant"refers to daigou in Chinese,or overseas people who buy goods for customers in the Chinese mainland.

It's estimated that there are 40,000 daigou in Australia, most of whom are young migrants or international students looking for ways to help cover their rent and university cost.

These freelance retail consultants have created thousands of trading routes, both small and big, into China.

Shops in Australia sold out of instant formula(婴儿配方奶粉),leaving many Australia parents unable to buy their preferred brands. The Sydney Morning Herald reported last year that half of Australia's infant formula sold went to China through customers selling to other customers.

Because of this, daigou have received criticism from Australia media. The Sydney Morning post even suggested that the Australia government should put a limit on instant formula exports.

However, not everyone dislikes daigou."We think daigou are good for both the local economy…and they are very good for our business,"Peter Nathan, the chief executive of A2 Milk,a New Zealand infant formula maker, told Reuters."We clearly believe they are a positive force."

Others agree that nothing is wrong with the practice."People are buying these products legally on the Australia market…they're not illegally being exported to China,"Tim Foulds, head of research at Euro monitor Australia and New Zealand, told The Washington Post.

28.Why do most daigou in Australia buy goods for Chinese customers?

A.To improve living conditions.

29.According to the passage, which of the following is right?

A.Australian parents criticize daigou.

B.Consumers prefer milk made in Australia.

C.Australian government has limited exports.

32.Famous people have a lot of influence on cultural trends, like it or not. When Amal Clooney wears a Stella McCarney dress, sales go way up.However, one trend that seems harmless﹣﹣﹣but is actually damaging﹣is the pressure on stars to have their photos taken with rare animals.

Famous people who are asked to have photos taken with wild animals for a magazine spread or who do so while on vacation always have good intentions and even love animals. This makes them easy targets for the often greedy amusement parks and fake animal centers. These businesspeople love the thought of sharing pictures of a star hugging a baby tiger or a whale.Kind people are naturally drawn to places that claim to offer rare animals safety and are eager to see elephants paint,to hug baby bear or to swim with dolphins. However,it has shown that many of these businessmen are breeders, dealers or exhibitors that are using Hollywood's goodwill for their own ends.

In some Asian countries, elephants are kept in camps.A few camps are working to help elephants in trouble, but the vast majority are not,and training methods are barbaric. As soon as the cameras are gone after someone like Prince William takes a photo with an elephant, the chains go back on.

Fans, tell the stars:Stay away from rare animal photos, and the animals will be grateful.Of course, you don't have to be famous to make a difference.Whether right here at home or at a place abroad, every one of us must fight the temptation to take a photo with an elephant or hug a baby tiger.

This trend, which was started by the medical community(医学界)61 a method of fighting heart disease, has had some unintended side 62(effect) such as overweight and heart disease—the very thing the medical community was trying to fight. Fat and salt are very important parts of a diet. They are required 63(process) the food that we eat, to recover from injury and for several other bodily functions. When fat and salt 64 (remove) from food, the food tastes as if it is missing something. As 65 result, people will eat more food to try to make up for that something missing. 2017届高三二轮复习英语精品资料【练案】 专题7 阅读理解Ⅳ:篇章结构题 1.[2016·北京卷] D Why college is not home The college years are supposed to be a time for important growth in autonomy(自主性) and the development of adult identity. However, now they are becoming an extended period of adolescence, during which many of today's students are not shouldered with adult responsibilities. For previous generations, college was a decisive break from parental control; guidance and support needed to come from people of the same age and from within. In the past two decades, however, continued connection with and dependence on family, thanks to cellphones, e-mail and social media, have increased significantly. Some parents go so far as to help with coursework. Instead of promoting the idea of college as a passage from the shelter of the family to autonomy and adult responsibility, universities have given in to the idea that they should provide the same environment as that of the home. To prepare for increased autonomy and responsibility, college needs to be a time of exploration and experimentation. This process involves “trying on ” new ways of thinking about oneself both intellectually(在思维方面) and personally. While we should provide “safe spaces” within colleges, we must also make it safe to express opinions and challenge majority views. Intellectual growth and flexibility are fostered by strict debate and questioning. Learning to deal with the social world is equally important. Because a college community(群体) differs from the family, many students will struggle to find a sense of belonging. If students rely on administrators to regulate their social behaviour and thinking pattern, they are not facing the challenge of finding an identity within a larger and complex community. Moreover, the tendency for universities to monitor and shape student behaviour runs up against another characteristic of young adults: the response to being controlled by their elders. If acceptable social behaviour is too strictly defined(规定) and controlled, the insensitive or
