welcomed by our home-stay families. Soon we went to different families where we had traditional English food and chatted happily. Later we went to Westminster College to attend a presentation about the school. A professor gave us a vivid and interesting introduction and we learned a lot about that college. In the following days we visited some famous scenic spots such as Big Ben and London Eye. We took many photos there. On the last day we had a farewell party at which students from China and Britain gave fantastic performances including songs and dances.

From the study tour, we have improved our speaking skills, and also we’ve got a better understanding of British culture.

三、Possible versions

1.立意:团结

As can be seen in the picture, some people are standing hand-in-hand, forming the shape of a heart. They are all smiling happily.

This picture conveys the message that sometimes we need to be united. There are basically two ways to accomplish things: working alone or working together with others. We are born with all kinds of ambitions, to conquer the world, for example. Yet very often we are awakened up by the plain fact that there are certain things we cannot accomplish alone. Therefore, it is essential for us to work in a united way. United, we stand; divided, we fall.

We should bear in mind that we cannot survive alone and frequently we need to unite with others to achieve our goals. (124 words)

2.立意:爱心传递

As can be seen in the picture, many children are standing merrily in a circle, hand-in-hand. The circle is heart-shaped.

The simple picture conveys a deep message that the world will be full of love when everybody passes their own love to others. Love is important for us. Just as the picture above, only when love is delivered from person to person can we sense each other’s trust, concern, warmth, friendship, etc, which are vital for everyone’s happiness.

In a word, if every one of us can devote a bit of love to others, our lives will be more beautiful. (100 words)

M: I think so. When I ride, I don’t have to see through the grey car windows. It is as if I could see the true life story going on around us.

Text 10

Once you get onto the stage, you may feel nervous. It seems your brain stops working. You forget your lines, or sometimes, just start laughing or shake all over. This is what stage fright can bring. There are tips on how to overcome these reactions.

First of all, practice your part. Practice in front of family, friends, and toy animals and even in front of empty chairs. By doing these, you can get used to performing in front of people.

Gain confidence in yourself by reciting your lines in front of a mirror.

When you are on stage, concentrate on what you are about to do. Forget about the audience. Take a deep breath. If you are tense and anxious, this process helps the body get into a relaxed state. And you need to be confident in the knowledge that what you are about to perform has been learned well.

At last, remember, have a good attitude. Be happy and smile with the eyes.

All in all, through performing, you are sharing your gift. As an actor, you are touching the lives of the audience. As a musician, you are inspiring your audience. A performance can always motivate the audience.

But Julia says she loves chocolate so much--once she starts eating it, she can’t stop. Julia isn’t the only one who loves chocolate. It is a favorite food for people all over the world. People prefer chocolate over ice cream, cakes and cookies. The idea of eating chocolate didn’t begin until the 19th century. Before that people drank chocolate. The habit began in Central America where the Aztecs drank bowls of chocolate to stay watchful. When the liquid chocolate was brought to Spain in the 1500s, people thought it was medicine because it had a medicine taste. In fact, the people who made chocolate into drinks were doctors. Then people discovered that mixing chocolate with sugar made a wonderful drink. King Ferdinand of Spain loved this drink so much that he put out an order: anyone who talked about chocolate outside the court would be killed. For about 100 years, chocolate was a secret in Spain. People finally found out about chocolate, and it became a popular drink in Europe, The Swiss mixed milk and chocolate. Today most Americans prefer milk chocolate, while Europeans prefer dark chocolate. New research shows that chocolate is actually good for us. “Chocolate has more than 300 different chemicals. One chemical works on the parts of the brain that feels pleasure. People who feel good when they eat chocolate are actually healthier. Feeling pleasure is important for health and can protect against illness.”“Good chocolate doesn’t have much fat or sugar. That kind of coordination(协调) between fiscal and monetary authorities is as exceptional as it is both swift and impressive. Sure, the Cassandras are disobeying the Fed‘s actions. Bernanke has been criticized f or everything from catering to Wall Street traders to still being behind the curve. But opinions are like a nose—everybody has one. The current noise of criticism against Bernanke is a lot like baseball fans, screaming ―throw the burn out‖ at the game or l etting out their depressions on post-game AM radio talk shows. But it‘s a lot easier to criticize than to step up to home plate and swing the bat. The reality is that few of Bernanke‘s most bitter critics were even smart enough to make it into an introductory economics class taught by Bernanke at Princeton—let alone to run the world‘s most influential Central Bank. And to assume that Fed policy is based on responses to such criticism would be as ridiculous as for baseball star Alex Rodriguez to walk over and hand his bat to an unpleasant critic in the seats of Yankee Stadium to take his place at home plate. Thankfully, airline pilots guiding a plane through rough instability play to a less noisy crowd. Here‘s the reality. Neither Bernanke‘s interest rate cu ts nor the federal stimulus package likely will hit the policy nail right on the head. But no real-time decision making is perfect. As John Maynard sKeynes, himself an academic with plenty of real world experience, observ ed: ―It‘s better to be nearly right than exactly wrong.‖ The Fed can‘t stop a decline, but it can help it be short and shallow. This is a complex, fast-changing situation. Let‘s give the Fed and the U.S. government some credit for acting swiftly and firmly.
